Strange Sub-Plots
AJ_Blanc13 November 2023
Not as good as season/series 1 IMHO but still a decent storyline. The problem is the plot doesn't seem to be enough to carry the season on its own, so there is at least one side-plot in every episode. This one is about a fake paramedic, but they can't arrest him because apparently it's not illegal to impersonate one. Dressing up as an EMT is one thing, but this guy was providing medical assistance without a license/certificate. Between that and driving an emergency vehicle there has to be something illegal. Speaking of his car, where did he get it? He probably didn't steal it, or else fitting him up would be easy, so did he pay somebody to put on all those decals and light bar, or buy it outright? Who has that kind of money, or would sell a fully functional ambulance? It's a silly thing to write a review for, I know, it was just a strange situation that seemed to contrast with everything else is going on this season.

Third episode in and this time they have rammed up the secondary story more than the previous week's instalment.

An old man is committing an armed robbery in a pub, he suffers from Alzheimer's. The pub once used to be a bank and that is what he thinks he is robbing. PC Jonah Mitchell ends up reviving the robber after he collapses with his stun gun after the advice of the paramedic. PC Mitchell later realises that the paramedic was bogus who preys on vulnerable older people.

Viv finds out that Manni may not be Nora's husband's son and and Viv decides to work on him starting with a game of pool.

A remark by the survivor of the fire in the hospital gives Hayley some cause for concern.

I liked the cocky bogus paramedic but I really think the main warring gang story is becoming convoluted.

Warning: Spoilers
Good at times, boring at others. A little ridiculous how Viv somehow "distracted" the man who had an easy shot to win at pool, but whatever. There was a good twist at the ending, although the idea of someone close to the female cop being behind the crime on a UK show has been done to death before.
