A dozen years later, India was celebrating its emergence as a global economic super power. Set in 2004, in the midst of a nationwide 'India Shining' campaign, the film Mantra tells the intimate story of a family and its travails, and through it, the story of the New India. The protagonist of the film is Kapil Kapoor, the founder of an iconic Indian snack brand in the 'License Raj' old India. But today - in 2004 - he is fighting a losing battle against a multinational that has taken over the market. But it is not just his company that Kapil is desperately trying to save; it is also his own wife and children who are battling their own crises. But for Kapil to hold on to everything that is dear to him - professionally and personally - he must confront himself; what he will save, and what he will lose, depends on the extent he is willing to face ... A Well thought, well acted and well told story
13 May 2020 | by cseabhiSee all my reviews

Nicholas Kharkongor has given us a well thought and well told story. Set from a business owner point of view, how he manages to keep his business afloat and at the same time keeping his family together. All the characters have their own problems and dilemas in life and its just about how they cope with their problems.

Rajat Kapoor, Kalki Koechlin and Shiv Panditt were great in their respective roles but it's Rajat Kapoor who stands tall as the soul of the movie. He is very convincing as a business icon who is struggling.

Obviously this film has a different target audience and not made for the masses, it involves some business and economic terms which many of the audience won't understand but for the target audience it is well intended and well narated film.

It's not a long film and sticks just to the main story and does not deviate. This is a good thing.
