- Upon learning during her sixth month checkup that her unborn baby has Down Syndrome, both Astrid and Markus are optimistic that they will be able to handle the challenge. However, when another checkup reveals that the baby has a heart defect and will require surgery after birth, Astrid begins to have doubts. She has to make the decision on whether to terminate her pregnancy or risk her baby being borne into a life filled with suffering.
