Sex & Nudity

  • Teenage sex is shown in many episodes. Female breast.
  • A woman is shown performing oral sex on another woman.
  • Female breast nudity is displayed of a topless woman viewing & caressing her bare breasts in a mirror. During several marital & extramarital sex scenes, most frequently female nudity is seen.
  • Less than 10 minutes in, an extramarital sex scene displays lengthy female breast nudity during the act & lounging in bed.
  • Extended female breast nudity of a naked teen girl wading in a lake.
  • A transgender character is heavily implied to be a prostitute.
  • A character is falsely accused of a violent sexual assault. The fabricated assault is then described to a police officer. Nothing is shown.

Violence & Gore

  • Several children are shown with the area around their eyes burned beyond recognition in a number of episodes.
  • Autopsy on goat's head, and of birds too (the bird's autopsy is less graphic), some mild blood scenes.
  • Two men are involved in a car crash. One is dead and another is wounded, blood covering his face. Can be upsetting to some.
  • A man is seen smashing in a child's skull in a bloody and tense sequence.
  • In the first episode of the second season a man is killed with a pickaxe. There is little blood shown.
  • A man hangs himself in the first episode. It is shown briefly and you can hear him struggling. It may seem disturbing to some viewers.
  • A woman is shot with a shotgun, her body is shown later, not graphic
  • Overall not a very violent show, the show focuses more on story rather than violence.

Profanity

  • There are 4-5 uses of fuck per episode and there is a single use of cunt throughout the entire show
  • However if you watch it in german with english subtitles the f words are more frequent and there are more c words

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Occasional brief weed use in season 1.
  • Teens meet to pick up drugs, the drugs are not shown.
  • A man looking for his son comes across a drug stash, they're never shown being taken but a man mentions selling them to high school students.
  • Lot of smoking and not shown in a negative way.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In The first episode a man hangs himself with a rope (frightening for younger viewers)
  • The show has a very dark atmosphere (no pun intended) characters are consistently in danger, with some deaths. Especially the 3rd season and finale are very intense and emotional.

Violence & Gore

  • In the second season an older man falls, hits his head and is left to die
  • In season 3, a girl kills a man with a fire hydrant with repeated hits. The man she killed had previously stabbed a man's neck. Not much blood shown.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Incredibly distressing deaths of main characters occur throughout this series in increasing frequency.
