The Hunting
claudio_carvalho2 December 2018
The new king of Kattegat Ivar is hunting down Lagherta, Bjorn, and Ubbe. Out of the blue, Rollo visits Kattegat to propose a deal to Ivar. The he goes to the place where Lagherta, Bjorn, and Ubbe are hidden and offers shelter to them and makes a surprising revelation to Laguerta and Bjorn. However Lagherta decides to accept the offer of Bishop Heahmund and go to England with him.

"The Revelation" is the episode of the return of "Vikings". It is not a great episode but entertains. The fate of Lagherta, Bjorn, and Ubbe is the cliffhanger of this episode and Rollo´s revelation is kind of corny. My vote is eight.

Great episode this show came back after the summer stop with a bang
moviehigh8129 November 2018
First off al I don't agree with all the this show died with Ragnar comments this show is still great in so many ways (alex hogh) really is a talented actor and the way he portraits Ivar is just PERFECT.

So I also don't get all the negative comments about the Character Ivar of course everybody seems to be a EXPERT on Viking and Danish history now are days because everyone has read the Sagas ....(yeah right) and everyone is a archeologist now are days . No this show probably is not accurate but hey if you think any of these shows have a 100 % accurate story telling then I am sorry but its time for you to wake up (nothing from that time period is 100 % accurate) they have to build a story around little pieces of sagas combined with the knowledge of historians and archeological findings. In my opinion Ivar definitely is the best character and the most evolved one as in character trades also his smiles giggles and voice is what sets him apart from the rest of the cast (HE SEEMS GENUINE) everything seems to go natural with him even the changes in his voice he really plays his part and lives up to his ROLE everything he was supposed to be according to historians and the sagas is portrait in a believable way his intelligence his anger his rage his insecurity's and above all his EVIL side and weak side.

So my opinion on this show has not changed its a great show with a great story and more then enough plots and twists everything you would expect to see from this type of show it delivers.

only negative criteria I have is the actors their real accents tend to pop up now and then ...(the guy who plays bjorn) sometimes I can hear a American like accent ...with some actors I can hear a Australian accent ...

Cant wait for the next episode !

The show isn't dead

Warning: Spoilers
When Ragnar died, I also thought the show will die. In episode 10 of this season i was really annoyed to watch that, but my mind has changed. Its really intresting that Lagretha and Bjorn and Ubbe went to wessex. It can resuscitate the show. Not only their travel to England, but also that Bjorn has known his father is Rollo can do that job.

This episode could have better rate. Fairly it was better than the previous one. Let's see other episodes.

Did you really believed, like me, that Bjorn is not a son of Ragnar? But...
officialman21 August 2020
... when Ragnar was killed, a one-eyed man (Odin) came to the sons of Ragnar to inform them that their father had been killed by serpents. Including Bjorn. When he and the Hvitserk were on a journey. He then asked the Hvitserk if he saw the same thing as he did.

Idk, who will look at this comment in 2020, but I hope I corrected your mood ;)

Man this is a great start i love the way Bjorn talk about his farther

Maybe Rollo is a real farther we never know that, but for him Ragna is always his Farther and he never betray him again and again.

More Jennie Jacques Please
AntoineMDevine25 December 2018
It's weird seeing her play the quiet matriarch behind the throne. It's as if they are not sure what do with her. Why is she not using her wiles to advise Alfred? Doesn't she have spies amongst the staff watching out for the inevitable plots against her son, especially in light of the contentious atmosphere brought about by the arrival of the Norse people? I hope to see her role expand so we can enjoy watching her wield her magic. Side note: If there is ever to be a young Agent Carter story, Jennie's my pick.

Ivar is still as insufferable as before
MoistMovies29 November 2018
The First half of the season and what looks to be the rest of it, will still be weakened by the acting of Ivar. The rest seems to still be good enough to hold me as a viewer for now. I hope they Focus much more on Bjorn, and develop King Alfred significantly, but that'll rely on character progression and the actor taking the reigns of developing him into a evolving figure.

And just forget the Floki nonsense, or wrap that up quickly. He was a good character in the earlier seasons, but they truly blew it with that later on in my opinion. And the supporting cast around him are extras with no personality who they give way to much screen time to. It's a shame rolo doesnt look to be making any significant return.

All and all very mixed bag, and compared to earlier seasons.. well, i could rate this much more harshly if i was making that honest comparison. Replacing Ivar's actor wouldnt bother me at all at this stage, it could save the series in many ways. I don't blame a lot of viewers for giving up on this show based just on him. The history of his character is so nonspecific that he could have played the part in so many ways, why did the actor and show runner have to go with irritating, smiling, insecure - annoying psycho. Could have been brooding, quiet, cunning, cold - relentless tactician. In my opinion that would suit the master strategist that he's supposed to be according to folk lore history.

6 1/2 for this ep

It's Over - Vikings is Jumping the Shark
jjmorrison-154-17723510 December 2018
Overall, Vikings is a great show.

Jump into the 2nd part of the 5th season and it's a mess. The story is digressing, they're throwing in thoughtless twists, and, as a result, I don't care about any of the current characters.

Disappointing
Tr-u-mpbilly2 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Vikings was great the first couple seasons, then turned into tolerable. This episode was all over the place.

I am a proponent of all the social issues being brought about here - equal rights for disabled, mentally ill, and women, as well as, improved education for the disadvantaged, and rights for adoptive parents. But, it seems they've forgotten this is a show about vikings.

I'll continue to watch, but I don't give it much hope unless they bring back Ragnor and the viking ways. We never actually saw Ragnor's dead body - only an empty pit.

So that's that, then?
lennholm8212 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A couple of episodes back we were teased the return of Rollo but got the complete cop out of "Rollo was too busy to come here himself". Then we got a proper tease by seeing him approaching and now here he is... but this is it.

Back when Rollo settled in France I was really hoping we would get to see a parallell storyline with the establishment of Normandy and the Norman people. We obviously didn't get that and instead he disappeared from the show and we got lame attempts at copying characters and plot twists from Game of Thrones. And now Rollo is back for a small cameo. He's obviously speaking directly to us viewers when he says "you'll never see me again". Great... thanks...
