Great show

Warning: Spoilers
In this interview series watch host Sean Evans interview a wide variety of celebrities from sports legends, famous actors to hip hop's greatest, comedians and more.

Normally I would not particularly care for a series which interviews famed people but there is something about the show that makes it unique. Whether its the humble host, the well researched questions or the impressive line up of vicious hot sauces, Hot Ones always seems to deliver.

The show is very down to earth and has an informal vibe. Somehow the hot sauce makes most guest drop their guard making for some unique and enjoyable interviews and memorable moments, such as Coolio emptying a full bottle of Blair's Mega Death Sauce with Liquid Rage over a wing and cleaning it.

Overall very recommended and surprisingly high quality show, despite the occasional mocking regarding the location of the set.

Longevity of the show will probably be decided by the variety in sauces and guests in future seasons and episodes.

Rates High on Scoville Points

Warning: Spoilers
HOT ONES is a simple yet perfect idea for a show: celebrity guests ingest increasingly hot food while an amiable and well prepared host asks them thought-provoking questions.

Watching the stars sweating, dribbling (from nose and mouth), getting red lipped and red faced is part of the charm here. Although some handle it with a lot less charm or consideration than others. Skip the Kevin Hart, Joe Budden, DJ Khaled, Shaq, Taraji B. Henson, Post Malone, and Charlie Day episodes, unless you want to witness how privilege and fame makes one unkind, entitled, and clueless.

Unlike the rancid pap of morning, midday, and late night chat shows, where every appearance is cynically and dully commercial, with HOT ONES you get the sense that you've learned something about the person being interviewed.

This is not just because they are disarmed by their physical discomfort, but also because great interviewer and genuinely funny host Sean Evans asks excellent, not-throwaway questions.

One more plus: This show is fully aware of what it is and never tries to be more than that.

Best way to get to know one

Ten wings. Ten questions. With every question the wing gets hotter.

Big celebrities opens up ways you never thought 'em would. This show is no main stream red carpet show. Seans guests let their guard down as they dive deeper into the abyss of scoville and share their personal thoughts and feelings you'd never see on regular talk shows.

It should not go unsaid, Sean is very a competent interviewer, who digs up questions beyond expectations. Guests have the tendency to compliment Sean on this many times.

When eating hot food, something wonderful is happening to your body and mind. You loosen up. You bond over hot food. It's beautiful.

Me and my friends eat hot wings while watching this show. Like Whiskey, beers, wine or whatever - there is an endless stream flavors and impressions to sense out in the world of chili.

Hats down for making this show Sean - I would love to eat hot wings with you!

Warning: Spoilers
My favorite thing about this show is when the guest is in tears and on the verge of dying and Sean is like "so what do you like to eat in New York?" Guest *exhales fire* 🤣🤣🤣

Great show

This is an entertaining channel. Sean Evans is a great host/interviewer. The twist of getting his guest to eat hot wings makes this show very different. All the celebrities he interviews is very surprising for being a YouTube channel. This show needs to be on Netflix or Hulu if already not. If you don't like talk shows with the Hollywood BS, watch Hot Ones on their YouTube channel First We Feast.

Great idea executed perfectly!

A new and different approach to classic interviews. At first, an idea of eating chicken wings with hot sauce during an interview on Youtube doesn't sound revolutionary, but I think it's truly a innovative way of doing it. Add one of the best interviewers around on stage along with extremely well selected guests every episode, and you get a show that has grown well over it's own limits. I hope they stay on Youtube though, since it feels right for the show.

A show with an interesting premise
bcprabhu2 January 2023
The base idea is that they do a celebrity interview while both of them eat increasingly hotter spicy wings. At first this seems like a prank-show* but it leads to enjoyable situations because it is hard to control yourself while your mouth is on fire. Also it maybe makes the interview subjects more honest with their answers and behavior. This probably gives a glimpse into the real personality of these famous people.

Although I definitely recommend this for watching there are some negative things too. Lately they seem to be doing too much promoting and they also invite unlikable celebs with fake attitude. Otherwise it is good.

Staged But Competent Questions
andrewrye-0653511 January 2023
I was going to give this a 6 but a few recurring themes troubled me.

Great questions and asked very eloquently shows that serious thought was put into what to ask the guest, but you can't tell me they weren't forewarned. Their answers are consistently just as thought out and answered. Also, no controversial items are brought up, at all which is probably why he has had such a good range of guests. However, that doesn't make for an interesting interview and most are forgotten as soon as the the show is finished. It also reeks of self promotion on behalf of the guest.

The other consistent theme is Sean Evans always copies the guests reaction, whether it's the portion sampled or the reaction to the heat. If the guest is struggling so is he, if they sail through without much of a reaction, so does he. Once even the crew mopped his dry forehead as the guest was sweating bullets. He eats so much of this he has to be comfortable with the heat level by now. This gives it a feeling of being disingenuous. That along with repetitious introductions and ending which could be altered to be more interesting mark this as a 4. Shame really, it could be a 6 with better production values.

Stupidest idea for a show
scoobydoobydoo-263993 April 2020
There's nothing like dumbing down America even more than they already are. This is absolutely one of the stupidest ideas for a show I have ever seen. Come on guys, come up with some good ideas for shows, instead of just pulling stuff out of your, well you know, like it seems you did for this show.

Too staged
susansundaisy10 February 2024
I think it used to be more honest and fun but now it's just a commercial for whatever they are selling. I stopped watching after Margot. Robbie was interviewed for her movie where she was Harley Quinn. They didn't really seem to care anything about her and just asked her things like, "would your character eat this?" Whereas the men seem to get a better deal and get to talk more and make themselves seem interesting. It's definitely a staged and I hate that you have to say so many words to post a review. Here I go. Let me just say it again. I think it's fake like between two ferns only it's not supposed to be.
