“Stranger Things” star Finn Wolfhard is the co-writer, co-director and star of the upcoming horror-comedy slasher Hell of a Summer, and the official trailer has been unleashed.

Neon will release Hell of a Summer in theaters on April 18, 2025.

Finn Wolfhard wrote and directed the upcoming movie alongside Billy Bryk (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), with both actors also starring in the film. The cast also includes Fred Hechinger (Fear Street 1994), as well as D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai (“Reservation Dogs”), Abby Quinn (“Mad About You”), and Pardis Saremi (“Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem”).

Hell of a Summer follows 24-year-old camp counselor Jason Hochberg (Hechinger), who arrives at Camp Pineway thinking his biggest problem is that he feels out of touch with his teenage co-workers.

Shadyside's curse may have been broken in Fear Street Part 3: 1666, but there is even more terror on the horizon in Fear Street: Prom Queen. Following the wildly successful Fear Street trilogy on Netflix, the project was originally pitched as the start of a greater anthology franchise, and there are plenty of R.L. Stine books to draw from. Directed by Leigh Janiak, Fear Street's story is told over three movies that take place in 1994, 1978 and 1666, respectively, and pays homage to horror classics like Scream and Friday the 13th.

Variety has learned that both Jessica Henwick and Ashley Zukerman are set to appear as series regulars in the upcoming third season of the Apple TV+ post-apocalyptic drama based on Hugh Howey’s “Wool” novel trilogy.

Zukerman will play Daniel, described as a “young and hungry congressman,” while Henwick will play Helen, said to be a “whip-smart reporter.” Both actors recently appeared in the Season 2 finale and will continue in the same roles in Season 3.

The casting news comes roughly one month after Apple renewed the show for both Seasons 3 and 4, with Season 4 set to be the final season.

Henwick’s previous TV credits include “Game of Thrones,” “Iron Fist,” and “Silk,” while she has also been in films like “Glass Onion,” “The Matrix Resurrections,” and “The Royal Hotel.” She is repped by CAA, imPRint, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Zukerman will star as ‘Daniel,’ a young and hungry congressman, and Henwick as ‘Helen,’ a whip-smart reporter.

From creator and showrunner Graham Yost, Silo is the story of the last ten thousand people on Earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built, and any who try to find out face fatal consequences.

Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer, who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles into a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.

Silo is produced by Apple Studios and based on the novels by Hugh Howey.

“Silo” is growing its Season 3 cast with the additions of Ashley Zukerman and and Jessica Henwick.

Netflix is heading back to Shadyside with Fear Street: Prom Queen, the latest addition to the Fear Street movie franchise based on R.L. Stine’s beloved teen horror novels. This new installment, directed by Matthew Palmer (Calibre), continues the legacy of the 2021 trilogy, and has been officially rated R by the MPA. The rating is due to “strong bloody violence and gore, teen drug use, language, and some sexual references.”

Set in 1988, Fear Street: Prom Queen revisits Shadyside, where prom season at Shadyside High takes a dark turn. The movie introduces a fresh storyline inspired by R.L. Stine’s 1992 book The Prom Queen. In the story, a group of girls campaigning for prom queen begins to mysteriously disappear after a gutsy outsider is nominated.

The students of Shadyside High quickly realize this is no ordinary prom night—it’s a fight for survival.

Fear Street: Prom Queen now has an official age rating, and it continues a trend for the Netflix horror movies. Based on the book by author R. L. Stine, the fourth installment in the Fear Street franchise takes place in 1988, chronicling a Prom Queen competition at Shadyside High School in which participants begin to disappear after the emergence of an unusual nominee. Though no Fear Street: Prom Queen trailer has been released just yet, the movie, which hails from director Matt Palmer, is confirmed to release on the streaming service at some point in 2025.

As the wait continues for a trailer, FilmRatings.com now confirms that the MPA has given Fear Street: Prom Queen an R rating for "strong bloody violence and gore, teen drug use, language and some sexual references." All other installments in the franchise have also carried R ratings, and all for similar reasons, though there is some variation between films.

Review: Growing up, I was slightly too old to enjoy Goosebumps. While I was graduating from Christopher Pike novels and R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series to the more mature novels of Stephen King, tons of kids entered the gateway horror of Stine’s fun brand of scary stories to tell in the dark. The anthology series was a hit with kids looking for a good scare, and the big-screen films starring Jack Black amped up the comedy for a big-budget adventure. Disney+ and Hulu’s reboot of the franchise was a successful, scary take on the source material back in 2023, and this year’s sophomore entry is equally good.

R.L. Stine, the author of the beloved “Goosebumps” series, praised the new installment, “Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” as being really scary and predicted that “people are going to love it.”

The series, which premiered Friday on Disney+ and Hulu, stars David Schwimmer as botanist Anthony Brewer, whose kids Devin (Sam McCarthy) and Cece (Jayden Bartels) come to visit for the summer. When Devin delves into the mystery of how his uncle vanished in the ’90s, new dangers — including some particularly nasty and grabby vines — stalk them all.

That’s according to the master of middle-grade horror, R.L. Stine, who revealed just how many more adaptations of his popular young adult horror novel series are currently in the works while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter ahead of Disney+ Goosebumps: The Vanishing premiere, coming Jan. 10.

“The writers are working,” Stine shared. “So I’ve got my fingers crossed.”

Man on Fire star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II suffered an injury while filming Netflix's thriller remake. It was announced in June that the Emmy-winning Abdul-Mateen II, known for his roles in HBO's Watchmen, the Michael Bay film Ambulance, and Nia DaCosta's Candyman, would star and executive produce a television adaptation of the Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill novels by author A.J. Quinnell. The novels had been previously made into a 2004 movie starring Denzel Washington.

Deadline confirms that Abdul-Mateen II suffered a minor hand injury on December 5th while filming Man on Fire in Mexico City. The injury forced production to pause. However, filming is expected to resume on Monday and Abdul-Mateen II is scheduled to return to work before production wraps for the holidays on December 20. According to the reporting, the filming schedule has been readjusted to work around the actor's absence.

Hold onto your butthole, there’s a new killer dino flick in town. Well Go USA has released their horror-comedy The Invisible Raptor in select theaters and on Digital outlets today.

In the film, “After a top-secret experiment goes wrong, a hyper-intelligent invisible raptor escapes the lab and begins wreaking havoc in the surrounding neighborhood. When the creature’s identity is uncovered, it soon becomes clear that a disgraced paleontologist—alongside his ex-girlfriend, an unhinged amusement park security guard, and a local celebrity chicken farmer—is the town’s only hope for surviving the raptor’s ravenous rampage.

There's no doubt that 2024 was an excellent year for Netflix movies. No matter what your favorite kind of movie is, whether it's romantic comedies or action movies or award seasons dramas, the streaming service had something for everyone. “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda is giving his official thumbs up on Season 2 of the Netflix original. The creator visited the set in Cape Town, South Africa, and shared his thoughts with fans.

At one time, Watcher director Chloe Okuno was attached to direct the fourth entry in Netflix’s R.L. The triumphant return of the slasher movie, a subgenre that had been mostly dead and buried for far too long, arrived with key caveats. Those that were now being made were either part of a legacy franchise (updates to Scream or Halloween or next year’s I Know What You Did Last Summer) or were hinged on a goofy gimmick. We had time loops (the Happy Death Day series), time travel (Totally Killer), timeline jumping (the excellent Fear Street trilogy), alternate realities (It’s a Wonderful Knife) or body swapping (the underrated Freaky), brash genre-bending variations that all seemed a little reticent to rely solely on the base pleasures of the formula.

The first poster for Fear Street 4, titled Fear Street: Prom Queen, has been unveiled, confirming the release date of the Netflix horror sequel while teasing details for the movie. The streaming platform released the Fear Street trilogy in July 2021, three movies adapted from R.L. Stine's book series of the same name with an interconnected storyline. Stine later announced in January 2024 that the next book would be an adaptation of Prom Queen, the 15th book in the series. It was later revealed to be a standalone sequel to the original trilogy.

Now, Netflix has released the first poster for Fear Street: Prom Queen, confirming a 2025 release window for the upcoming horror sequel. The poster reveals the return of Shadyside High from the original trilogy, with a sign that reads "Senior Prom '88." However, the sign is splattered with blood, while an axe is sitting beside it, also drenched in crimson.
