From the way Rosé sings Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” you would think she actually used to rule the world. The Blackpink member premiered her latest cover of the classic record in the Season Two trailer for Pachinko, the drama series returning to Apple TV+ on Aug. 23.
There’s only about a minute of the recording included in the trailer. Most of the clip centers on a family’s fight for survival in 1945 Osaka during World War II. Fitting the tone of the series, Rosé’s rendition of the soaring pop record is darker,...

The first series of Apple TV+'s sweeping yet somehow incredibly intimate, multiple generations spanning trilingual family saga Pachinko blew us away with its bold, intellectual, emotional, and incredibly cinematic brand of serialised storytelling. And if the first trailer for the second season of the streamer's Min Jin Lee adaptation is anything to go by, then showrunner Soo Hugh is set to take us on another incredible timey-wimey journey as the Baek family's story continues with S2. Here we see lovers Koh Hansu (Lee Min-ho) and Sunja (Minha Kim) reunite in war-torn Osaka, Japan in 1945 as businessman Solomon (Jin Ha) continues to wrestle with his identity in 1989 Tokyo. Check it out:
How about that 'Viva La Vida' cover from Blackpink's Rosé? That's sweeping, epic, bold, and emotional right there! And the trailer ain't half bad, either. The first series of Pachinko introduced us to Baek family matriarch Sunja,...

I’m really excited for the new season of “Pachinko” coming to Apple TV+ this summer. The show is all about a Korean family living in Japan for generations. It moves between different times in history and uses Korean, Japanese, and English which makes it super interesting to watch.
The trailer for season 2 was just released and it looks like it’s going to be another emotional rollercoaster. They used a cover of “Viva La Vida” by Blackpink’s Rosé that gives me chills. That same song will also play during the very last episode too.
Season 2 starts on August 23rd and will have 8 episodes come out one by one each week until October. Some parts of the story will be in 1945 during World War 2 in Osaka, Japan where the main character Sunja has tough choices to make to keep her family safe. Other parts will be in 1989 Tokyo following...

A Korean family’s generational struggles with war, forbidden romance and business survival continue in the second season trailer for Apple TV+’s Pachinko, which dropped on Monday.
Parallel storylines in the latest series teaser have Minha Kim starting in Osaka, Japan, in 1945 as younger Sunja making dangerous decisions to ensure her family’s war-time survival, before Minari Oscar winner Yuh-Jung Youn as an aged Sunja, now a grandmother, is shown with her Western-educated grandson Solomon Baek (Jin Ha) in 1989 in Tokyo.
The time-hopping, trilingual Pachinko trailer sees financial whiz Solomon wrestling with his family roots and the biggest deal of his career as an American-educated, Japanese businessman pursuing his own fortune and future.
“Do not forget who you are. Can you do that?” Sunja, now the older family matriarch, asks Solomon at one point in the trailer. After all, the story of the Baek family across four generations — and told in the Korean,...

The trailer for Season 2 of Pachinko has arrived (above), and so has the end of World War II in the multigenerational saga that spans decades.
“Your grandfather, he always wanted me to fly,” Sunja (Minha Kim) tells her son Noa Baek (Kang Tae ju) in the clip as a kite flies out in the fields where Sunja and her sister-in-law Kyunghee (Eunchae Jung) work. Sunja and Kyunghee look up to see bomber plans flying in droves toward their hometown of Osaka, Japan.
Rosé of Blackpink’s cover of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” starts up as Koh Hansu (Lee Minho) confronts Sunja after 14 years, telling her he never lost track of where she was. In addition to featuring in the trailer, the cover will also play in Season 2’s finale.

The historic Super Bowl 50 showdown kicked off to a fittingly cutthroat start (ads and all) on Sunday. Not to be outdone, Coldplay delivered a colorful halftime show that included a medley of "Viva La Vida ," "Adventure of a Lifetime," and "Fix You," among others tunes and nods to the past. (It was kind of like School of Rock met a California kaleidoscope.) Oh, and as promised, Chris Martin thankfully shined the Beyoncé and Bruno signals, which led to an "Uptown Funk"-"Formation" showdown that ended too soon. Roll the clip above to witness (or relive) the ephemeral slayage, and read our critic's take here.

It truly was a triple threat. Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars performed during the 2016 Super Bowl Halftime Show and absolutely killed it the only way a combination like that could crush one of the most watched performances of the year. The British band kicked off the festivities with a snippet of "Yellow" and then transitioned into Viva La Vida ," where was accompanied by a group of kids playing an orchestra. Lead singer Chris Martin then sang "Paradise" before launching "Adventure of a Lifetime." Mars and his group then took the stage in matching black leather outfits and performed an epic "Uptown Funk." Beyond epic. The dance moves, spinning by Mark...

James Corden is nothing if not a good friend. The “Late Late Show” host saw Coldplay’s Chris Martin hitchhiking to Super Bowl 50 from the side of the road and graciously offered to drive his fellow Brit all the way from Los Angeles to San Francisco in time for Sunday’s big halftime performance.
