Per Collider, Sinners is now among the top 100 highest-grossing horror films in history, thanks to the $55 million it's made domestically since its premiere on Apr. 18. Following an exceedingly positive reception for its live-action How To Train Your Dragon remake at CinemaCon, Universal Pictures brought out the main cast during its afternoon presentation to officially announce a sequel: How To Train Your Dragon 2.

Today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Universal Pictures revealed the teaser trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and announced a live-action adaptation of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Opening in theaters on December 5, 2025, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 begins a blood-chilling new chapter of animatronic terror. Anyone can survive five nights. This time, there will be no second chances.

Based on Scott Cawthon’s blockbuster game series, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is directed by acclaimed returning filmmaker Emma Tammi. The first film opened to a record-shattering $80 million and went on to earn almost $300 million worldwide.

The film followed Mike, a troubled young man who reluctantly takes a job as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, hoping it will help him retain custody of his young sister. That fateful decision instead drags him into the black heart of a supernatural nightmare.

Universal Pictures dialed up new details on The Black Phone 2 from the CinemaCon stage in Las Vegas.

While filmmaker Scott Derrickson couldn’t make it to Sin City as he’s still in production, Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum had the honors (he even wore a Grabber mask for the occasion) and was joined by one of the franchise’s stars Madeleine McGraw. Jason Blum’s house runneth over at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Horror label Blumhouse brought four new films to tantalize global theater owners on Tuesday, which will roll out steadily through 2025.

The titles feature homicidal robot girls, murderous animatronic mascots, a jacked and terrifying (and undead?) Ethan Hawke and a sentient sex doll. It’s what we love and expect from the producer of “Whiplash” and “BlacKkKlansman.”

This is the first time Blumhouse has presented to exhibitors since merging with horror company Atomic Monster, founded by “The Conjuring” and “Insidious” mastermind James Wan.

The trailer opens with a ringing black phone somewhere in a cold weather area. Pictures of three boys are seen. The Grabber’s lair from the first film is then revealed. “You of all people know that the dead is just a word,” the Grabber says. An older Mason Thames appears in a phone booth and the Grabber is revealed behind him.

The sequel is apparently “the launch of a sinister new franchise.”

Update: Universal’s live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon is already a major hit with members of the entertainment press, and now the studio is proud to announce that How to Train Your Dragon 2 is in the works for a June 11, 2027 release! Bosch star Titus Welliver's Dracula sequel, Abraham's Boys, just received an exciting update. The film has been acquired by Rlje Films and Shudder.

Per Variety, Abraham's Boys is written and directed by Natasha Kermani (Lucky) and based on a short story written by horror legend Stephen King's son, Joe Hill. The film will premiere at the Overlook Film Festival, a four-day celebration of all things horror taking place in New Orleans between April 3 and April 6.

Abraham's Boys follows Max and Rudy Van Helsing, the children of Dracula's legendary Abraham Van Helsing. After learning about their father's history with Dracula, Max and Rudy's worlds are turned upside down as they uncover the reasons for their father's unhinged and violent behavior. Welliver stars alongside Jocelin Donahue (The House of the Devil), Judah Mackey (The Young and the Restless), Aurora Perrineau (Westworld) and Brady Hepner (The Black Phone).

About four years ago, we heard that Tea Shop Productions, the company behind 47 Meters Down, had hired Imitation Girl and Lucky director Natasha Kermani to write and direct a feature adaptation of Joe Hill‘s short story Abraham’s Boys. Now, we finally have an update on the project, as Variety reports that Rlje Films and the Shudder streaming service have acquired the worldwide distribution rights to the film.

The Abraham in question here is vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing as Hill’s action-horror story is described as a “follow-up of sorts” to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The story tests the relationships Stoker formed in his original novel. The plot follows Max and Rudy Van Helsing, who know nothing of their father Abraham’s past and cannot understand his overprotective attitude and strange behavior. Disney’s “Snow White” is sinking fast at the box office, so much so that Amazon MGM’s “A Working Man” has taken No. 1 from it this weekend with a $15.2 million opening from 3,262 theaters compared to a $14.2 million second weekend for the Rachel Zegler-starring remake.

Heading into the weekend, “Snow White” was projected for a second weekend of $16-18 million, with some optimistic projections topping out at $20 million. “A Working Man” was projected for $10-12 million.

Instead, “A Working Man” has nearly matched the $16 million opening of star Jason Statham’s last film, “The Beekeeper” in January 2024. As expected, the film skewed 60% male and, while getting mixed critical reviews, has earned mostly positive reception from audiences with a B on CinemaScore and an 84% overall positive rating on PostTrak.

The film will now try to match the $66.2 million domestic/$162.6 million global total of “The Beekeeper” against its reported $40 million budget produced by Black Bear.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the hit filmmaking duo who most recently served as producers on The Gorge are slated to bring author Christopher Golden's 2022 novel Road of Bones to the silver screen for Sony Pictures' Screen Gems. Director Scott Derrickson is returning to horror for his next project. The filmmaker behind movies such as Marvel's "Doctor Strange" and the Apple TV+ original "The Gorge" is working once again with his creative partner C. Robert Cargill on an adaptation of the 2022 novel "Road of Bones," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project has been set up at Sony Pictures' Screen Gems, where Derrickson and Cargill's production company Crooked Highway has a first-look deal.

Derrickson is set to direct the film. He will also co-write the screenplay alongside Cargill, whom he's worked closely with ever since 2012's breakout hit "Sinister." The duo will also produce the movie, which is based on Christopher Golden's novel, which was published by St. Martin's Press. There's no word yet on who will star in the adaptation, or how soon production will get underway.

Bones is a supernatural thriller set in Siberia along the Kolyma Highway, a real highway that was built in Stalinist Soviet Union using the labor of prisoners from the region’s gulags. Lore has it that hundreds of thousands of inmates perished during the construction of the 2000 km road and due to the permafrost, it was judged easier to just built atop of the bodies.

As we first reported on Toonado.com, Universal Pictures has released six new character posters for the live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie. While the movie's leads are featured, the spotlight is put squarely on the remake's main dragons.

The approach to bringing these beloved fantasy creatures to life is certainly unique; while they're photorealistic, they've also kept the same cartoonish designs we first saw on screen a decade and a half ago. Had they all been given the House of the Dragon treatment, it just wouldn't have felt right (particularly in the case of Toothless).
