This season takes place in Michigan. However, the background for the news anchor announcing election results shows Chicago. Chicago news stations wouldn't usually give air time for the results of a Michigan senatorial race, particularly if it doesn't have impact on Illinois or have significance at a national level. Smart hard-hitting social satire and yes, cerebral Horror
15 November 2017 | by CarsonTrentSee all my reviews

Season 7 will leave gore-lovers unsatisfied while others will marvel at its lucid dissection of our current historical cycle and our nature as humans. This season is NOT aiming at scaring adolescents with see-through ghosts and puddles of blood. It's a social commentary which also dares probing into our psyche as a species. There are some others commenting about the "outcome" of the season. They haven't grasped the point of season 7. This season was made to scare us by putting the very monsters hidden deep into our collective unconscious on screen. Politics, society and TV reflect our collective unconscious. We are the only species fighting for gender equality. This season plays out an exaggerated, paranoid scenario which aims to denounce the ground which seems to actually be fertile enough that the realization of it seems NOT that far fetched. Kai is not a fantasy. He is "real" in the sense that his appearance wouldn't surprise us. THIS would be his time. And more than that: Who knows who may come after a barking dog to reap the benefits? Therein lies the Horror of this season.

This is introspective social-horror gutting our most inner demons as a species and our society as a whole, not just the USA. And in this respect there's never been a scarier AHS season. 10+

P.S.: Let's not forget that all monotheistic religions started out as cults and spread like wildfire, and that they ALL preach of a Messiah. We ARE a civilization organized in a hive-like fashion.
