As of February 2018 the BBC have cancelled 'Porridge'.
Fletch's cell mate is called 'Lotterby'. Sidney Lotterby was the Director on the original series.
Joe Lotterby mentions that he served a sentence at Slade Prison in the 1970s, and knew Fletcher's grandfather while there. Porridge (1979) features a character named Lotterby, played by G.B. Zoot Money, who works in the kitchens at Slade Prison alongside Lennie Godber.
Fletch's full name is Nigel Norman Fletcher, grandson of Norman Stanley Fletcher portrayed by Ronnie Barker in the original Porridge (1974)
