George Eads: Jack Dalton

Quotes

  • Jack Dalton : [Jack is in an office of I.T. techs in Oklahoma City, trying to find the person who's controlling Bruno]  Riley, this place is absolutely ginormous. Any chance you chance you can tell me how to find this scumbag?

Riley Davis : Sorry, Jack. I can tell you where he is on the network, but not in the real world. You're just gonna have to search that place one I.T. tech at a time.

Jack Dalton : [sees the fire alarm]  Or... I could use an old high school trick.

    [pulls the fire alarm]

Jack Dalton : OK, PEOPLE, EVERYBODY OUT! BIG FIRE COMING THIS WAY!

    [I.T. techs don't move]

Jack Dalton : HEY! HEY! IS MINIMUM WAGE WORTH DYING FOR? I DON'T THINK SO. NOT LAST TIME I CHECKED. SIR, YOU LIKE BEING ON FIRE? NO, NO, NO. THAT'S RIGHT.

    [singing-like]

Jack Dalton : It's getting hot in here.

    [normal voice]

Jack Dalton : No time for eye contact, sir, think of your family.

[every I.T. tech clears out but one, Jack notices him, and walks over to him]

Jack Dalton : And then there was one. What's up, dude?

[takes a picture of the man with his phone, which auto-sends to Riley]

Jack Dalton : Riley, coming you're way. Hey, wait a minute. Don't I know you? Did you go to my high school or something?

Riley Davis : [recieving Jack's auto-sent picture]  No, Jack, you didn't go to school with him, but you have seen him before. That's Martin Korman. Founder of the Korman challenge.

Jack Dalton : The geek from the Robo-apocalypse contest? Why would you sabotage your own thing, man?

Martin Korman : 'Cause it's not my thing. Not anymore.

Jack Dalton : What do you mean?

Martin Korman : I wanted to build unmanned ambulances to save wounded soldiers, but the government just wanted another weapon. They want to take the human element out of war.

Jack Dalton : Well, mister, I was the human element in war. Believe you me, it's not pretty. Anything we can do to get the soldiers off the battlefield is a good thing, right?

Martin Korman : Not if we can't control what we put in there place.

    Jack Dalton : Touche.

Martin Korman : Robots can be hacked. Human soldiers can't. When I tried to explain this to my superiors, they pulled my security clearance. Forced me out. I had to make them see the mistake they were making. And since violence seems to be all they understand...

Jack Dalton : What did you program that thing to do?

Riley Davis : Unfortunately, I can answer that. I just got into Korman's computer. He sent Bruno commands to fire everything it's got at the Pentagon.

Jack Dalton : Well, if you're at Frankenstein's computer, Riley, can't you just shut the monster down?

Riley Davis : No, I can't. He sent his final command, then severed his connection to Bruno, making the drone fully autonomous. And I can't hack Bruno remotely. I've tried.

Jack Dalton : Ok. Ok. Ok, Dr. Frankenstein, on your feet.

[Korman gets up from his chair]

Jack Dalton : Don't mess around, I'll put one in you. Let's go.

  • Jack Dalton : [Matty is calling him, he answers his phone]  Don't tell me, let me guess. You started the robot apocalypse.

Matty Webber : Yes. We have a runaway robot.

Jack Dalton : Well, I called that one, didn't I?

Matty Webber : But a human is in control. Someone hijacked a fully-loaded military drone, and we believe it's heading for the Pentagon.

Jack Dalton : Does this someone have a name yet?

Matty Webber : We're working on it. Riley traced his signal to a network in Oklahoma City. And you're my closest agent. By the time you get there, we should have exact coordinates.

Jack Dalton : Ok, I'm on my way.

[hangs up, looks at the school banner on the wall behind him, and makes a hook 'em horns sign with his fingers]

    Jack Dalton : GO LONGHORNS!
