Frightening & Intense Scenes

- An Elephant Sitting Still will be one of the most dark, depressing, and lonely films you will ever watch. There isn't a single happy or positive moment in this entire film, and it is especially long. Many consider it to be like reading a suicide note, which technically is true because Hu Bo, the writer/director, killed himself sometime during or after post-production.

- A teen boy shoots himself in the head. It happens offscreen so nothing is shown
- Two teen boys get into a fight on a staircase, resulting in one of them falling down on the pavement below, knocked out. It's later revealed he's dead.
- A boy goes to visit his grandma only to realize she's dead
