Sex & Nudity

  • Tony is filmed in the shower. As such, some characters make sexual references.
  • Throughout the series, Matt's therapist talks about his various sexual encounters in explicit detail. It is for comedic effect, but he goes into graphic detail on occasion.
  • Two characters are seen having sex. No nudity is shown, and it's mainly played for comedic effect.
  • When characters are having sex, you do not see it and it is rustling under the sheets. However, it only lasts for a couple of seconds.

Violence & Gore

  • Two teenage boys are trying to rob Tony and threaten to kill him. Tony attacks one of them and his nose starts bleeding.
  • Tony hits a potential mugger in the face with a tin of dog food. Also, two muggers threaten to hit a woman with a hammer.
  • Tony is constantly speaking about killing himself. Especially in episode 1.

Profanity

  • The main character, Tony, keeps insulting people constantly, using profanity.
  • The word "cunt" is used throughout the series. However, it is never used as a vulgar reference to the female anatomy. The word is used only in the British slang sense referring to someone who acts stupidly or offensively.
  • Pretty Incessant strong language. Words like "fuck" and other words are used throughout each episode.
  • 1 use of "cocksucker".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There are scenes involving buying and consuming drugs such as marijuana and heroin.
  • Use of alcohol and narcotics is featured heavily.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Themes of death are featured heavily throughout., Also, Tony is shown contemplating different means to end his life, and the content may be upsetting for some viewers.
  • A man gives another man money knowing he will use the cash for drugs to commit suicide. The man does indeed commit suicide - we see him inject heroin into his arm. The man who gave the cash for suicide presents no real moral or ethical responsibility, shame, or guilt for what he's done.
