No turning back now... HE is here
GomezAddams66622 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A few years back when I heard of this series the idea sounded weird to me, a Batman show without Batman? What's left, a police procedural with Batman's rogue gallery?

But this show is so much more than that, it has truly become an origin story for Gotham's villains and heroes, including James Gordon, Oswald Cobblepot and now we finally have the Dark Knight's greatest foe, the Joker.

Ever since Cameron Monaghan appeared as Jerome Valeska back in season one audiences had been clamoring for the show to recognize him as this universe's Joker, but this was not meant to be. It turns out Jerome was a proto-Joker or a predecessor to the infamous Clown Prince of Crime, at the end it would be his twin brother, Jeremiah Valeska who would carry the most terrifying mantle into these streets of Gotham.

The show runners have been denying Jeremiah was the Joker, but there is no turning back now.

In this faithful episode, Jeremiah has kidnapped Alfred and two innocent people to recreate the night when Bruce Wayne's life changed forever, why? Because Jeremiah had twin obsessions, transforming Gotham (which he accomplished), and bringing to the surface the darkness inside of Bruce; after all, one bad day can turn the sanest person into lunacy, right?

So he recreates the dinner and movie, which happens to be "The Mark of Zorro", followed by an inevitable murder in the alley, because if Bruce won't be united with him by friendship they will be united in hate.

But with the help of Jarvis Tech (The Mad Hatter) and Ecco, Jeremiah has hypnotized Jim Gordon and Leslie Tompkins so they become the lambs of this slaughter, but Selina Kyle interrupts this moment and Bruce chases Jeremiah into Ace Chemicals where the battle ensues and the rest is comic book lore.

David Mazouz is amazing as a young Bruce Wayne who has transformed into the Dark Knight in front of the audience's eyes over the years, and so have all the talented cast that have brought to life this story, especially Camren Bicondova as Selina and Cameron Monaghan as Jeremiah.

After Jeremiah falls into the batch of chemicals, he is seen one last time in a hospital bed supposedly without any brain activity but we know the rest, don't we?

There is no turning back now, no other character will ever come close to have a connection with Bruce like Jeremiah and this episode now confirms what fans have been waiting for, we have THE JOKER!

Do I even have to rate this? 11 out of 10.

Best episode yet!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was absolutely amazing and is the best episode of Gotham put out so far. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I knew Jeremiah was going to make clones or something along the lines of that of Thomas and Martha Wayne, but it blew my mind when they actually came on screen. This episode sent me through a tunnel of emotions. The Ace Chemicals scene was so well choreographed and acted, and I swear I got goose bumps. I had to bite my hand quite a few times during this episode. I'm still dumbfounded.

They promised an epic showdown and that's what we got, extraordinary episode
Holt34422 February 2019
Set and production design are great, best of the season. All the sets are just beyond perfect, being influenced by sets from Batman across the media. The episode was filled with small and big easter eggs. The story is influenced by Death of the Family but in its own sinister, original and great way. From start of the episode to the end we get to follow through Bruce's eyes in an psychological torture plan that Jeremiah has in store and he doesn't let down, one of the most epic and extraordinary moments of the show. The showdown between Bruce and Jeremiah was predictable but still amazing as we know too well of how Joker became The Joker, it never gets old as it's one of the most iconic scenes in comic books.

Cameron Monaghan is once again the highlight of the show, he shines and portrays Jeremiah in such a Joker fashion, his portrayal are among the best Joker performances I've seen. The writing team has to be thanked for that as without them we wouldn't have had the storyline and dialogue, with him executing everything to the screen makes us see how much big potential Cameron has when he grows older as that is on a quality level.

John Stephens have been a director for the show since the first season, he knows every single character and with the knowledge he has we finally got to see among the best Jim and Leslie scenes and one of the best Jim Gordon scenes, amazing. He directed this episode and it's honestly one of the series best episodes and possibly the season's best. He was the right choice.

Jeremiah is the JOKER!!! 100%!
yannis_bal23 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
WOW!!!! What a performance.... What an evil plan! All Jeremiah did in this episode was 100% JOKER! The plan, the facial expressions, the NEED to gain Bruce's/Batman's attention, to become his archnemesis!

Cameron Monaghan is the best actor of the show, hands down! And he is that, by portraying 2 different characters, with many similarities, but differences as well.

And of course... If this is not the origin of the real JOKER, I don't know what is...

The Mr. J episode we deserve, but not the one we needed.

Ace Chemicals is another fantastic Gotham episode, unfortunately though I don't think it lives up to the hype. I'm going to keep this short because I did really enjoy this episode and it's definitely one of the highlights this season, but I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty disappointed. The main section of the episode with Bruce and Jeremiah is everything I wanted, except it's barely over half of the episode itself. I mean I can't be the only one who was expecting it to be at least like 80-90% of the episode. A lot of that storyline just feels kinda rushed. It spends too much time on other sub plots and characters that could've easily been condensed to another episode. I know this season is much shorter, but this wasn't the episode we needed to truly catapult Gotham's final season to the top.

Overall this was an excellent episode, and I really enjoyed it, but it felt a bit too rushed, and it focused too much on side plots, instead of the main part with Jeremiah.

The Joker was Born
emobandtrash24 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was very excited for this episode. It was the most anticipated one for me. I loved all the humor throughout the story, the plot Jeremiah did, the love-hate relationship between Bruce and Jeremiah, and the Ace Chemicals lab scene. That one had me become very emotional as I've been waiting for this for months! I'm so excited for Gotham to continue on with these next final episodes. I still hope we can get another season or another network can pick it up.

Welcome the joker
markq-7565431 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This was the best episode of Gotham ever. Jeremiah is the best live action joker. His obsession with Bruce is great. He gets people to look exactly like his parents, messes with Alfreds mind and takes them back to Wayne manor. Then blows up Wayne manor, and him and Bruce fight in ace chemicals. Suck and epic episode.

A fitting tribute to the 90's
asb_deutsch10 March 2019
Gotham has been going exceptionally strong so far in its finale season, and "Ace Chemicals" seems to continue this trend. What this episode did very well was establishing prominent directions for certain characters, while leaving some reasonably in the dark for future development. One flaw is that like some episodes of the past tried to weave too a plot thread too many at times. David Mazouz and Camren Bicondova have interesting arcs, nonetheless. The signature mature themes and high-production budget was evident, and aside from rushed narrative's to properly catch up, Gotham returned with a great edition to an already stable season.

A fitting tribute to classics like Batman (1989) and Batman Begins (2005). I can still recall the scene in the original classic where the Joker falls in the slurry. Though the spill was looking fake in this episode, but this is what you can expect in a TV production. Though I give enormous credit to Cameron Monaghan for incorrigible acting, whether it is Jerome or Jeremiah. I thought that no one could beat Heath Ledger's acting skills but Cameron displayed exemplary skills. WB wouldn't have had the required script/dialogue delivered had it not been for Cameron!

This episode =7.5/10 This Season: 48.5/7 = 6.93
