Nicely Nicely done!
LNPhoto12 December 2018
The plot was predictable, but it was the telling of the plot that made this episode so entertaining. I loved the special effect used to convey Nolan's confusion and Nathan did a great job of showing the remorse and isolation of an event like this. The cliffhanger was the bow on top of the package: the last shot of the episode taken from Castle S4 E15 "Pandora". What I didn't like was that ABC chose to show the resolution of the cliffhanger in the previews for the next episode one commercial later.

This episode is so stunning...

Nathan totally nailed the gravity of the things happening... I was emotionally on the edge of my seat for the whole time.

So many emotions

This was such an intense episode! So many emotions: from fun, funny, drastic, overwhelming, sad, scary, anxious..cliffhanger! This was by far the best episode yet! Nathan Fillion nailed it and I'm so appreciative of all the actors.

The Internal Affairs
claudio_carvalho17 October 2021
While attending the call of a robbery of a convenience store by two criminals, Talia arrest one of the men and Nolan pursues the other on foot. The thief breaks in a house and flees to a room. Nolan saves the family and when he enters the room, he is face to face to the criminal with a gun. He shoots the man in self-defense and his decision affects his life in the police department and the internal affairs. Meanwhile, detectives Wolfe and Vestri decide to use unstable Isabel to help them to capture a powerful drugdealer and Talia and Tim are invited to join the rescue team.

"Time of Death" is so far the best episode of "The Rookie". The plot is dramatic with the situation of Nolan and tense with the plot of Isabel. Looking forward to see the conclusion of this intense episode. My vote is nine.

More garbage writing

Warning: Spoilers
Early on in the episode, the cops respond to an alarm, finding that a shop owner has performed a citizen's arrest and apprehended two shoplifters. They demand (at gunpoint) that the clerk puts the gun down, which she reluctantly does. The teens, now with two guns trained on them (rather than the one previously) decide that NOW is the time to run - and do so in idiotic ways. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Nathan then runs down an individual and corners him when he runs into a random family's house. He gets a gun pulled on him and drops him. His partner then tells him that this is now a "homicide" - which is completely ludicrous. In anything else, they'd bring in forensics, maybe, but really, they'd just look at the bodycam, call it self defense, and put him on paid leave while they investigate a little - then again, they are in California, so it's possible that their laws are that idiotic there - but I don't think even they're this bad.

Far from realistic

This is not what happens in reality, Hollywood perpetuating an image that the public thinks what really happens.

Yet another "mid-season finale" fiasco
gdump13 December 2018
Why do networks do this? They contrive some stupid plot twist to create a "cliffhanger" to justify a two-part episode split over Christmas. Invariably, it compromises the production values of the show and makes it much less likely that I'l continue watching in the new year

I don't want to give away anything, but there is absolutely no suspense in the cliffhanger as anyone with a brain will know exactly what happened. The fact is that there is absolutely no way that the bad guy would be granted bail given the charges he is facing so the entire premise of the cliffhanger is preposterous.
