Lily Collins has given some of the most undisputed performances in almost all of her projects, with the viewers being stunned not only by her exceptional acting charms but also by her irresistible beauty. That said, her portrayal of Ellen in her 2017 thriller/drama film with Keanu Reeves, To the Bone, was nothing short of the perfect proof of just how dedicated she is to her work as well.
Lily Collins in Emily in Paris.
However, her movie was booed down and deemed a controversial project that should be banned because it could trigger strong, unwanted emotions in the people actually suffering from anorexia nervosa. But the movie itself was a real masterpiece that needed to be created, and the response that Collins received for her tremendous physical transformation only further proved its necessity.

France’s first lady, Brigitte Macron, will be the subject of a biopic series produced by French mini-major Gaumont.
The six-part show is being penned by Bénédicte Charles and Olivier Pouponneau, who previously teamed on the thriller series “J’ai menti.”
Titled “Brigitte, une femme libre”, the series will chart the life of French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife. Gaumont is keeping the plot of the show under wraps and will be announcing the cast in the next few weeks.
Brigitte Macron’s life story surely provides plenty of material for a TV series. She met Emmanuel Macron while teaching theater at the Catholic high school Providence in Amiens. Macron was then 15 years old, while she was 40 and married with three children. In a recent interview with Paris Match, Brigitte Macron talked about her anxiety over their age gap, saying that her “head was in a mess” after she fell in...

Production on MaXXXine, the sequel to director Ti West‘s films Pearl (watch it Here) and X (watch that one at This Link), wrapped way back in May of 2023, and we still have a few months to wait before A24 gives it a theatrical release on July 5th… but the folks on the Motion Picture Association ratings board already had the chance to watch the movie, and they have picked their rating for it. MaXXXine has earned an R for strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use. Sounds like a good time at the movies to me!
MaXXXine is written and directed by West. Mia Goth reprises the role of X survivor Maxine Minx, a burlesque performer and adult film actress with the goal of being a star. The film has the following synopsis: In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break.

Darren Star is on the move.
The creator of hits including Netflix’s Emily in Paris and TV Land’s Younger has departed his longtime home at Paramount Global’s MTV Entertainment Studios for a rich overall deal with Universal Television.
Star has a carveout in his new eight-figure deal and will remain showrunner on Emily in Paris should Netflix continue the show beyond its upcoming fourth season. Beyond that, Star will create and develop new series for NBCUniversal’s broadcast network and streamers as well as for outside platforms.
“Darren is a singular voice who has created signature shows for multiple networks and platforms since the beginning of his career, from the hills of Beverly to the streets of NYC to the Champs-Elysees,” said Pearlena Igbokwe, chairman of Universal Studio Group. “As we think about the talent we want to bring to the studios, Donna [Langley] and I often talk about brand-defining storytellers,...

Exclusive: After a decade at Paramount Global and its predecessors ViacomCBS and Viacom, Darren Star is making a move. In a competitive situation, the prolific TV creator of such shows as Beverly Hills, 90210, Sex and the City and Emily In Paris, has signed a big multi-year overall deal at Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. No one is commenting on the size of the pact, but I hear it is in the eight figures and in the top tier of premium overall deals; certainly the biggest we have seen since the end of the strikes.
Under the pact, Star will develop and produce new series projects for broadcast and streaming through his Darren Star Productions exclusively for Universal Television. Outside of the deal, he will continue as executive producer/showrunner on his popular Netflix series Emily In Paris, which is currently filming Season 4, if it is renewed...

Exclusive: Uncoupled is not getting saved after all. Showtime has decided not to proceed with Season 2 of the comedy series, from Emily in Paris creator Darren Star and Modern Family veteran Jeffrey Richman, Deadline has learned. A rep for the network could not be reached for comment.
The reversal comes a little over a year after Showtime stepped in to pick up the MTV Entertainment Studios-produced Uncoupled following its cancellation by Netflix after one season. Showtime’s creative team was to put the project into redevelopment to tailor it to the network’s sensibilities, and the decision not to do a second season came after months of work on that, sources said.

In a push to bulk up a library of adult-skewing dramas and to expand the brand identity beyond family fare, Disney+ has ordered a raft of scripted originals out of France, Germany and Spain.
Out of Gaul, the streamer has commissioned “The Lost Station Girls,” a true-crime thriller about a two-decades-long inquiry into the murders of four young women in the south-of-France. “Emily in Paris” star Camille Razat will topline the investigation drama produced by Itinéraire, the same outfit behind Disney’s BAFTA nominated “Oussekine,” while Gaëlle Bellan (“Tout Va Bien”) oversees the project. Production is already underway in the city of Perpignan.
In Germany, the period comedy “Vienna Game” will reframe the 1814 Congress of Vienna as a “a seven-month-long party” that takes an irreverent view of European diplomacy while paying deference to women behind the scenes who really got the job done. Bettina Kuhn of Satel Film is set to produce,...

To combat the ominous atmosphere of the Ides of March, Netflix has another Lindsay Lohan film, “Irish Wish,” which is now streaming. The follow-up to “Falling for Christmas” in Lohan’s deal with the streamer to make two films, “Irish Wish” focuses on love, luck and a little bit of magic in the rom-com that arrives right before Saint Patrick’s Day.
Lohan portrays a smart book editor, except when it comes to matters of her heart. It takes a wish granted by a mystical woman out in the beautiful Irish countryside to get Maddie to realize that what she hopes and dreams for might not be what she wants or should want in life.

Netflix is doubling down on Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The streamer has renewed the lavish live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon series for two more seasons.
The order will conclude the story of Aang’s journey to become the Avatar in fantastical world.
Since the show’s Feb. 22 debut, the series has been Netflix’s top English-language TV show with 41.1 million views, according to the streamer.
While the first season was eight episodes, there’s no word yet on the episode count of the final two seasons. Netflix has done double-season renewals before (on shows like Emily in Paris and Stranger Things), but this might be the first time the streamer has ordered two seasons to close out a series. Production on MaXXXine, the sequel to director Ti West‘s films Pearl (watch it Here) and X (watch that one at This Link), is said to have wrapped last May, around the time that production company and distributor A24 unveiled a first look image from the movie that shows franchise star Mia Goth alongside singer Halsey. (That image can be seen at the bottom of this article.) Things have been pretty quiet on the MaXXXine front since then, aside from news of a lawsuit being filed by a background actor – but now, thanks to the YouTube interview show What’s Under the Bed?, we have a bit of a status update from West, who also happened to show off a prop from the film during his interview.
At about the 26:37 point of the What’s Under the Bed? interview, West is asked about the props he has kept from the movies he has made.

“Barbie” is a cultural phenomenon, grossing nearly $1.5 billion and racking up eight Oscar nominations, all while launching scores of catchphrases and memes.
So it’s understandable that Mattel, the company behind the iconic doll, is looking to capitalize on its cinematic success by developing dozens of movies based on its games and toys. Moviegoers can look forward to Barney, Bob the Builder and He-Man hitting the big screen in the not-so-distant future.
But as Hollywood raids toy store shelves to feed its insatiable hunger for IP, it’s worth noting that when it comes to this type of film, for every “Barbie”-sized smash there’s a “Battleship”-like bomb. With that in mind, here are some of the movies that Mattel has in the works.

The treasure trove of young talent that emerged from The CW’s “Riverdale” is truly astonishing, and Camila Mendes is no exception. Her star power as both an actress in and executive producer of the immediately classic rom-com “Upgraded” takes the New York University alum to new heights.
While Mendes’ former “Riverdale” costars are flying high in their respective lanes, with Cole Sprouse stealing scenes even as a mute zombie in the Diablo Cody-penned “Lisa Frankenstein” to Charles Melton’s haunting, award-winning (yet Oscar-snubbed) performance in “May December,” Mendes has proven her own visionary chops in recent years. The star had a standout role in frothy high school dark comedy “Do Revenge” opposite Maya Hawke, and now holds her own alongside iconic actress Marisa Tomei in “Upgraded.”

Mira Sorvino confirms that she and Lisa Kudrow are finalising contracts for Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion 2. More here.
It was all the way back in 1997 that out of the blue, Hollywood gave us a pair of impressive high school reunion movies. First up, in the UK at least, was Grosse Pointe Blank, starring John Cusack. That had the better reviews and initial response at the time. Yet since then, it’s Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion that’s come far more to the fore.
Starring Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow, and directed by David Mirkin, the original film – as discussed in an old Film Stories podcast episode here – was penned by Robin Schiff. She based it on a 1988 stage production called Ladies Room, and it was revealed a little while back that she was cooking up a Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion 2.

“One Piece” has some of the best characters in anime, but a select few stand out more than the others (Photo Credit – IMDb)
The 1997 internationally acclaimed manga/anime, “One Piece,” holds no less than a godlike status for the Shounen community in the anime world. It’s one of the longest-running series in history, and even as of now, both its anime and manga are ongoing, going head-to-head with the latest modern legends in the industry like “Jujutsu Kaisen,” “Demon Slayer,” “Chainsaw Man,” and “Vinland Saga.” This is precisely why the massive fan following, and the hype surrounding it is completely warranted and prove “One Piece’s” impact on anime.
The characters in “One Piece” are nearly as iconic as the series. Most of them have substantial individual fanbases owing to their larger-than-life, comically exaggerated personalities and equally over-the-top powers and character designs. Some characters, however, stand out more than the rest.

Oh mon dieu! There was a time when it looked as though Netflix was poised to become the streaming world's answer to HBO.
Like the network that brought you The Sopranos and Deadwood, Netflix created its own niche, and at first, the streaming giant seemed to be focused on supplementing its movie library with a wide array of prestige original series.
But in recent years, the Og streamer abandoned that strategy in favor of an approach that's less ambitious and -- well, more depressing.
These days, there's a pervasive feeling that Netflix is more TBS than HBO.
The platform that delivered Orange Is the New Black, The Crown, BoJack Horseman, and Narcos is now churning out far more pedestrian fare -- basically, the sort of stuff you'd find on basic cable.
The list of series recently renewed by the famously cancel-happy streamer includes:
Outer Banks, Blood & Water, Sweet Magnolias, Hearbreak High, and Savage Beauty.

Netflix has unveiled the slate of TV series set to release new seasons in 2024, and some of the streamer’s biggest series are not on the list, delayed by the writers and actors strikes.
Stranger Things‘ fifth and final season, which just started production earlier this month, will not debut until 2025, making for a three-year gap between both Seasons 3 and 4 (due to the pandemic) and Seasons 4 and 5.
Given the extensive VFX work involved in the series, which was originally slated to start filming Season 5 in May, the delay is not surprising.
Ditto for the series that dethroned Stranger Things as Netflix’s most popular series, Wednesday, which is not scheduled to begin production on Season 2 until late April in a new location, Ireland, and breakout new 2023 drama One Piece, which also is yet to start filming on its second season.
