Therefore, it goes without saying that when fans spot the actor out and about in the city, they wouldn’t want to miss the golden opportunity of interacting with him. Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t turn out how we expect them to. This is the story of a fan whose interaction with Anthony Mackie didn’t go quite how she had hoped, causing her to label the man as the ‘Rudest Human Being Alive.”

We all know that Kurt Russell is a true acting legend. The legendary actor made a name for himself as Dexter Riley in films such as The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969), Now You See Him, Now You Don’t (1972), and The Strongest Man in the World (1975), and later continued the success by starring in John Carpenter’s films as hero-turned-robber Snake Plissken in Escape from New York (1981), its sequel Escape from L.A. (1996), the horror film The Thing (1982), and the kung-fu comedy action film Big Trouble in Little China (1986). And while this is just a fraction of Russell’s amazing roles, it is a good indication of how big of a star he was in the 1970s and 1980s.
But, another member of his family, his son Wyatt Russell, is also becoming a popular acting name since his appearance as John Walker / U.S. Agent in the The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) series.

Throughout the development of ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ the updates we received were mostly concerning. Reports suggested extensive reshoots were required due to subpar action sequences and lackluster chemistry between the lead and the love interest.
However, during the 2024 CinemaCon, footage from the film was unveiled, depicting Sam Wilson as Captain America working to rebuild the Avengers and facing off against Harrison’s Ford Thunderbolt Ross. This revelation has sparked excitement for the movie.
In the clip, Sam Wilson meets President Thunderbolt Ross at the White House, who suggests reassembling the Avengers with Sam as their new Captain America. However, there are suggestions that Ross might have hidden intentions. A meeting is interrupted by a mysterious villain who takes charge, resulting in intense action scenes where Sam defends himself against Secret Service agents. Sam and Joaquín Torres join forces in these sequences, leading to a climactic showdown between Sam and Ross.

For most of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ development, the only thing we’ve heard about the movie was troubling updates. The movie underwent massive reshoots due to unsatisfactory action scenes and poor chemistry between the love interest and the lead (according to rumors).

When it comes to protecting his IPs, Kevin Feige is no less than a clucking mother hen, and Captain America might just be the biggest egg in the basket. After Chris Evans’ swan song moment in Avengers: Endgame, the IP became as invaluable as first-edition art – treasured enough to be left as is but popular enough to be replicated.

The Captain America: Brave New World star, Anthony Mackie, recently stated that the long-overdue sequel is hoping to offer a “clear reset” for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s currently chaotic creative direction. Presumably, this aims to maintain the franchise’s reputation amidst its continuous quality decline.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly after Marvel’s first official screening of movie footage at 2024 CinemaCon, the Brother to Brother actor offered his viewpoint on his first full appearance as the Star-Spangled Avenger. As the MCU prepares for a major reset following the events of Avengers: Endgame, fans have high hopes for seeing how Mackie’s Captain America shapes the franchise’s future.

Sebastian Stan has proven, time and time again, that he knows how to immaculately deliver what he signs up for, irrespective of the character (or even person) that he has to play. His perfect portrayal of Bucky aka the Winter Soldier in the MCU is the true evidence of this claim, among others. That being said, his next film sees him effortlessly slip into a different avatar as well.
Sebastian Stan in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
As most die-hard fans must already know, one of Stan’s next performances would see him embodying the former president of the United States, Donald Trump. Yet, even though his first look in character makes him look like a scarily accurate version of Trump, fans can’t help but point out that it is not as accurate as all of his previous masterpiece portrayals.

Since the film’s initial announcement back in 2023, quite a few fans have been doubting if Anthony Mackie’s Captain America: Brave New World would actually live up to the legacy that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers left behind. Well, turns out it just might, as Mackie clarified through his most recent statement on the 2025-release window scheduled film.

According to the Sam Wilson portrayer’s statement, the upcoming would be a lot different than what fans are expecting, considering how it is a “clear reset.” Then there’s the fact revealed by Mackie that the film would be “10 times bigger” than his series with The Winter Soldier, which just makes Harrison Ford’s MCU debut film all the more interesting.

Marvel Studios has been quiet for a little while, but Kevin Feige and company made a splash at CinemaCon 2024 by showing off several minutes of footage from one of their next big movies.
One of the most astonishing things about the 15-year-long cultural phenomenon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that they managed to get a mass audience to care about limp characters like Thor and Captain America. As a comics reader in the 1990s, I recall that those who read Thor and Captain America books were snickered at; the X-Men, Batman, Spider-Man, and the then-rising Image Comics characters were considered way cooler. Thanks to the MCU, however, Captain America (previously played by Chris Evans) was now hip, and his movie "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is often vaunted -- rather debatably -- as one of the best films in the long-running series.

It’s official: Donald Trump — or at least a fictionalized version of him — is heading to Cannes.
The prestigious French film festival unveiled its 2024 official film selection Thursday in Paris, and Iranian-Danish filmmaker Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice was among the titles revealed for the event’s main competition.
The biographical drama stars Sebastian Stan as Trump and explores his career as an aspiring real estate tycoon in the New York City of the 1970s and 1980s. The film is described as a mentor-protégé narrative that documents the start of an American dynasty and tackles themes including power, corruption and deception. It delves into the relationship between Trump and Roy Cohn, the New York City prosecutor oft-remembered for working with Sen. Joseph McCarthy during the Second Red Scare.

Joe Simon and Jack Kirby created Captain America in 1940 as a symbol of American propaganda. Enhanced by a powerful steroid, Steve Rogers was given over to the American military, given a colorful, American flag costume, and ordered to pummel Nazis. Indeed, on the cover of "Captain America Comics" #1, Steve can be seen punching Adolf Hitler in the face. After WWII ended, Captain America has been adrift in Marvel Comics, only finding usefulness as the leader of a ragtag group of other superbeings. It's astonishing how successful the character has been in the last 60 years or so, given that he clearly exists as a still-living relic of the Greatest Generation.
In 1944, Captain America first appeared in cinemas as the star of a 15-part Republic Pictures serial starring Dick Purcell. The character was altered dramatically for the serial, however. Instead of a weakling soldier named Steve Roger enhanced by steroids, Captain American...

The best (and worst) part of writing for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that your movie/show is almost never just a self-contained story. It's part of a larger world, one where pre-existing characters can veer in and out of the narrative at seemingly any moment. But that's part of what made "Loki," the Disney+ series that began in June 2021, so fun. The main character was already established by several previous movies, so viewers knew who this guy was from day one, ad the first episode had a whole lot less work to do than a typical TV pilot.
So far, "Loki" hasn't involved any major characters from the main MCU, but part of the fun for fans is knowing that it could do so at any moment. It's hard to imagine a version of the series that doesn't at least have Loki somehow reconnect with his brother Thor, for instance,...

Anthony Mackie has been a stalwart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since debuting as Sam Wilson/Falcon in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The actor’s superhero tenure has included “Avengers” movies and the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Now, Mackie is taking on the mantle of Captain America in the upcoming theatrical tentpole “Captain America: Brave New World.”
While promoting his latest series “Twisted Metal” in the United Kingdom, Mackie compared the project to his experience making Marvel movies and told Radio Times there was a lot more storytelling freedom to be had outside of the MCU.
“I would say the Marvel thing is completely different, just because it’s such a space of controlled entertainment. Like, there’s only so much you can do,” Mackie observed. “There’s only so much creativity you can bring to the table, because Stan Lee gave us so much content.

Can you accept that Anthony Mackie did what he thought was right? Mackie – who has played Sam Wilson aka Falcon (aka Captain America) across six films and one series – has close ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having first played the character a decade ago, but even with his place in the MCU, he knows that pretty much any creativity he wants to bring to Wilson will most like be stifled.
Speaking with Radio Times, Mackie said, “I would say the Marvel thing is completely different, just because it’s such a space of controlled entertainment. Like, there’s only so much you can do. Fans were curious about what was in store for the Winter Soldier when Sebastian Stan’s character, Bucky Barnes, was prominently absent from the recent announcement of Julius Onah’s Captain America 4. However, a new theory suggests that his absence from the upcoming flick may allow Bucky Barnes to fully embrace his Wakandan superhero identity.
Despite the disappointment that Bucky was left out of Captain America: Brave New World, the decision actually makes sense. Well, Captain America 4 perfectly justifies his absence, as he moves from a supporting role to a more significant one (White Wolf) in Thunderbolts.

Actors are often faced with walking a tightrope between their creative ambitions and the strict guidelines laid down by the all-powerful Marvel Studios. One such actor, Anthony Mackie, who has played the iconic character Falcon / Sam Wilson / Captain America in several MCU films, recently opened up about the creative constraints that actors face behind the scenes.
Mackie has made a name for himself as an action star thanks to his work as Captain America. Of course, because of his success as Sam Wilson, the actor, 45, has been able to venture outside of the comic book industry. This includes his starring role (John Doe) in the Twisted Metal series. How was his time working away from MCU, then?

Anthony Mackie’s standout role to date is undoubtedly as Falcon/Captain America in the MCU. He’s appeared in six films and one TV show so far. He’s also set to star in the upcoming movie ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ but there are some development hiccups reportedly due to unfavorable test screenings.
Mackie recently talked about his latest project, ‘Twisted Metal,’ with RadioTimes. He highlighted the contrast in working on a franchise like that compared to the MCU, which has a well-established lore.
I would say the Marvel thing is completely different, just because it’s such a space of controlled entertainment. Like, there’s only so much you can do. There’s only so much creativity you can bring to the table, because Stan Lee gave us so much content. Whereas with this [Twisted Metal], it was like, ‘There’s a guy and a girl… go!

Captain America: Brave New World is going to be released on February 14, 2025, as things stand now as one of the first movies of the MCU’s Phase Five. The movie will star Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, taking over from Steve Rogers, who was played by Chris Evans in the earlier movies. Now, while Mackie will be joined by some old and some new faces, it seems that MCU veterans Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl won’t be returning as Bucky Barnes and Baron Zemo, respectively. The news comes from a recent interview Mackie gave to RadioTimes.

Among the slew of upcoming MCU projects, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ stands out for its tumultuous production journey. Originally slated for release in 2024, a combination of the SAG-AFTRA strike and extensive reshoots has pushed its debut by a year. Details regarding the plot remain scarce, with only a brief synopsis released thus far. Initially, Serpent Society & King Cobra were set to appear as minor villains, but recent rumors suggest their removal from the movie entirely.
Despite the fluctuating lineup, some characters from previous ‘Captain America’ projects are confirmed to return, including Joaquin Torres, portrayed by Danny Ramirez. Joaquin, who debuted in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ served as Sam Wilson’s Air Force liaison and later proved instrumental in aiding Wilson’s endeavors, eventually stepping into the role of Falcon himself.
A well-established character in the comics, Joaquin Torres’s portrayal in the MCU is eagerly anticipated.

On the heels of What If…? season one’s warm reception, Marvel Studios head of streaming Brad Winderbaum knew that now was the time to pursue his longtime dream of reviving the beloved Fox Kids show X-Men: The Animated Series. The series aired from 1992 to 1997, and Winderbaum, as executive producer, is on the verge of releasing X-Men ’97, which picks up right where the original series left off as the classic X-Men characters are forced to find a way forward without the leadership of Professor Charles Xavier.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige required only two conditions before giving his blessing on the latest Disney+ animated series.

"Star Wars" fans have a bit of a good news/bad news situation to contend with today. The good news? It was confirmed that 2022's "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series is finally getting a 4K and Blu-ray release nearly two years after it finished its run on Disney+. Unfortunately, that very same physical media release has also quietly confirmed that the show is not getting a second season and is instead going to remain a limited series. That's not good news for those who wished to see Ewan McGregor suit up one more time as the beloved Jedi.
The upcoming Blu-ray release was announced alongside similar releases for Marvel's "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" and "Moon Knight," as well as the "Star Wars" series "Andor." Several Disney+ TV shows, including Andor, are getting physical releases and in 4K too! More on those below.
In the age of streaming, physical media has become a bit of a hot topic. On one hand, digital libraries and streaming services mean that you’ve got an almost endless amount of films and TV shows at your disposal.
However, as Guillermo Del Toro noted, you only truly own a film if you own it physically. There are plenty of great TV shows and films on streaming services that are not available on physical media, but four Disney+ shows are getting 4K Uhd Blu-ray releases so there’s still hope.
Andor, Moon Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier have been confirmed for 4K Uhd Blu-ray and will be available from 30th April. At the time of writing, it looks like this is US only, with a UK release pending.

Last year, Disney+ started sending some of its original programming to physical media with limited edition SteelBook releases for the first two seasons of "The Mandalorian," as well as the Marvel Studios shows "WandaVision" and "Loki." This year, the House of Mouse will continue sending "Star Wars" and Marvel shows to 4K and Blu-ray with a whole new roster of SteelBook releases.
The Walt Disney Company has announced that the first season of "Andor" and the limited series run of "Obi-Wan Kenobi" are among the second wave of releases coming to physical media from Disney+. Interestingly enough, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is referred to as the "complete series," which would seem to put a damper on any hopes that we might get a second season of the series with Ewan McGregor.
On top of that, the first seasons of both "Moon Knight" and "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" will be arriving...
