Hugh Grant at his best!
globalisationana16 November 2020
I have enjoyed this episode more than the three previous, I found the mothers at school terribly superficial and annoying and Elena herself empty and strange, with inquisitive looks. Nicole more interesting yet mysterious. I think only Hugh Grant could save the play. In this episode her giver a TV Interview where he is juman and relatable and humble and less strange and irritating than the remaining characters except Nicole, who has been much better in other roles. At times the story doesn't matter anymore and it's pleasant to watch the panorámic views of New York. The city itself is charming and worth a look. I also noticed they all want to earn an award, except Hugh, so that's why he seems better at it, haw works on creating a real. character and personality, not a performance seeking an award. That helps!

so far the best episode

Warning: Spoilers
Okay, i have mixed feelings with the show right now. i knew the lawyer was going to be a bomb for the show since i first saw her but i still do not buy this is going to be an easy answer. i feel like the two last episodes are going to have to be fully charged to compensate the slow path the show has chosen for the first FOUR episodes. my suspects are on sutherland's character but as i said before, i don't think this is as easy as a "he did it. jail. lets all go home". david e kelley has managed to make unexpected plot twists that change the whole thing into another one. im hoping it takes the path that Sharp Objects took at the end and drop a big ending cliffhanger. or at least to be as round and fair as Little Fires Everywhere's ending was. the performances are still great. donald sutherland has entered the room and he's hungry for some emmy nominations. hugh grant really does well too, specially at the tv scene. and i'm hoping they consider lily rabe for an emmy nomination even though this is not her best work at all. also, noah jupe does really good and the other kid who plays the victim's son miguel. also a point for the cinematography and directing that managed to take more risky shots and scenarios (like the snow scene). now, about nicole kidman. i know she's a great actress and her performance is much more believable than if any other actress would have played this character. but in a kidman-range parameter, i would say this is (so far) a poor character for her to portray and subsequentially, not her best performance at all. i feel like david e. kelly loved her work in big little lies and gave her a very similar character with a different hairstyle and a way less interesting storyline. she can do better but most importantly, she can be offered better. i would've loved if the roles were inverted and kidman played rabe's character and viceversa. to sum up, a great episode but i want to see way more than that in the last few episodes remaining. i want more action. more david e kelley. more nicole kidman.

Becoming a whose who done it theory.

After 4 mysterious episodes , See No Evil is so rivaling , and it seems just maybe the star could be the killer who doesn't know which is the present , she seems to be driven in the past , during her walks , so maybe she has a sleepwalking condition and when asked upon by the police , she takes a harsh position in not knowing what is happening in the present. But she says , she is not weak...........

Suspicions.

Why was this episode great? It touched on white privilege like I have never seen before. The way it turned the murder into a conflict of white privilege was astonishing. Although we don't know if it was a member of the Fraser family, I have a suspicion with someone outside the family that I will keep to myself. This episode really was great cause it still manages to be entertaining, filled with great acting, and intrigue. The final 5 minutes were great as it always is with every ending in every episode this season. Can't wait for tonight's season finale after I watch the next episode.

What the hell were you thinking?
safenoe24 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In 1995 Hugh Grant, after being arrested for lewd conduct with Divine Brown, appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The host famously asked, "What the hell were you thinking?"

In See No Evil, Jonathan (Hugh Grant) is persuaded by his attorney to participate in a TV interview, where in fact he proclaims his innocence. There was no temptation for the interviewer to do a Leno, but still.

Hugh Grant as Jonathan steals this episode with his English charm, and we learn that he also had an affair in addition to that with Elena. Seeing Jonathan cradling his infant daughter by Elena could be one to make the heart melt, but still make you wonder whodunit?

Meh

There are some characters behaviour that I did not get, they were quite unnatural. There are also some scenes that I did not get too. They had not so many sense.

I hope that this show is not sinking.

[7.6] In the center of public's attention

A slower episode with more than average unrealistic scenes as fillers, sort of aggravating Jonathan's case. That's my opinion and others may not agree. At 6 episodes only, the episodes shouldn't slow down and what is deemed as development should have been properly and ultimately developed by mid-series, giving place to more thrilling turns of events, pushing the show forward.

Donald Sutherland is the one who truly shines in this episode with an undeniable charisma.

Episode 4

Warning: Spoilers
A little slower than the last one, but after a bad pilot this show is starting to round into form.

We saw a different side of Franklin here. Red herring? Perhaps, but at least they have us invested in the mystery.

Gratuitously Tedious!
Easygoer1017 November 2020
This show is becoming more and more tedious for no reason. The ultra low lighting makes everything worse. I understand why it's done: To enhance tension and sow mistrust of all. I find the casting of Edgar Ramirez as a detective just plain wrong. On the other hand, Donald Sutherland is perfect as the pain-in-the-rear wealthy and very unhappy father. However, no matter how hard I try I cannot picture him as Nicole Kidman's dad! Oh well.

Leaning into the shark jump

Warning: Spoilers
This was the episode which began my eye rolling.

First, the good. Donald Sutherland is so amazing in this episode. Noma Dumezweni is also incredible. Her role as the defense attorney saves many a scene. I'll give Grant some praise for the first part, especially with his scenes with Sutherland, but it's in the second half where the plot literally and figuratively get lost.

Which brings me to the bad. When Henry goes to the house of the murder victim, I literally exclaimed aloud: "Oh, COME ON!!!". That ENTIRE sequence was some of the worst writing I've seen, in a long time. I mean, it aggravated me so much, I decided to write this review, lol

I have personally never been a fan of Kidman, so I'm not going to over criticize an actor who I expect nothing from. That said, I just don't find her performance to be believable. To be fair, the writing/direction for this character is all over the place. In the first episode, she comes across as highly intelligent and aware. And it's her strongest performance.

But in every subsequent episode, her character shows none of that, and instead she's portrayed as either naive beyond belief, on the verge of a breakdown, or falling for Henry's psychopathic behaviour. It's a bizarre choice.

It's a shame Sutherland's strong performance was overshadowed by such lazy writing.

Slips a bit here
chunkylefunga23 December 2020
First 3 episodes were decent enough but this episode falls apart a bit.

Far too many basic errors that no intelligent human being would ever make.

Hopefully in the next episode the characters have a bit more of common sense.
