Not bad for a second episode
Sabalon25 May 2020
I enjoyed the pilot, and see this as more of a part 2 of the pilot. Luke Wilson, while a sidekick role, is turning out to be a favorite in this show. His character adds some needed humor, but is still done with some heart of a husband/dad/step-dad that cares. A couple characters seem so much a stereotype trope that I'm not looking forward to seeing more of them, but overall the way they are putting the pieces together work so far. I do fear it's going to devolve into cartoony, mustache-twirling bad guys eventually, instead of multi-faceted characters. But of all the DC shows, this is up there pretty high so far.

Keeps up the pace from the pilot
KookShanty27 May 2020
This episode continues the pilot's trend of being a lot of fun. Brainwave felt like a cool entry type villain and multiple scenes with him were unique and entertaining. This episode also packed in several moments that made me like both Courtney and Pat better, which is important to establish likeability so early. Can't wait for next week, as Brainwave was cool, but we have many more Injustice Society members to meet. :)

The story continues, a great follow up episode to the incredible pilot.

S.T.R.I.P.E. stands for Special Tactics Robotic Integrated Power Enhance and it's the suit that our hero, Pat Dugan wears which he created himself. The show's version actually looks pretty good.

For what we have seen in the first two episodes Brainwave is looking like a good villain, great even and I can't wait to see the others of the The Injustice Society of America. How the storytelling makes us follow the villains aswell as the heroes is nice as it makes them more fleshed out and believable. Brainwave is played Christopher James Baker and the performance he gave in this episode were terrific, simply superb. Pat Dugan have his own inner struggles and they're realistic ones but with that he's still everything a hero is and I'm excited to see his whole story arc this season, as I said in my previous review, he's my favorite character as he's just so likeable and relatable. Brec Bassinger is like the character she's playing slowly but surely growing into the role of Stargirl. It's rightfully cast, I see the potential. The rest of the cast all seem to be good.

This was kinda a second part of the pilot and I'm fine with that. It isn't really as good as the first episode but it had its moments, lots of good ones. The CGI and effects weren't as good for example Stargirl's movements but I think it will get better. I have high expectations for the next episode and rest of the season, it looks bright with more villains that have and will be introduced. So far, Geoff Johns have done a good job!

Great episode - Brainwave and S.T.R.I.P.E steal the show

Warning: Spoilers
Is true, the "hype" of the pilot have passed, but here they focus on the "side characters". Brainwave is amazing. He really got the "mean villain" spirit. Specially seeing how everyone in the Injustice League fear him (Except for Icicle) . Luke Wilson is the winning card of this show. He is a great actor with the magic of balancing humour and drama. I bet he will be our earthlink for this show. If someone asked where was Groundy, well, now we know. And i bet he wouldn´t be happy after his release in the upcoming episodes. This episode was more an origin story for Pat and S.T.R.I.P.E and to set the game of the Injustice League vs The New JSA.

The fights so far were great and the acting feels real so, at least this far, this has become my favorite comic series. So do yourself a favour and watch this.

Outstanding guest performance

Warning: Spoilers
This second episode continues the positive momentum from the Pilot, but I think I liked the Pilot just a little bit more. Episode 2 slows things down, but not too much. Also, unlike the Pilot, this episode actually has a standout character other than Courtney and Pat and that would be Brainwave, superbly played by Christopher James Baker. Brainwave is appropriately clever and intimidating, but he also has depth as we see his complex relationship he has with his son Henry, the high school bully who got into a couple of scrapes with Courtney in the Pilot Henry is obviously being set up to be a key player as the season progresses.

It's becoming very obvious based on the first couple of episodes that the cast for this show is going to be HUGE and maybe this is a reason for my 1 less star in this episode. Two episodes in, and I'm not yet feeling a huge chunk of the cast, but that's mainly because the writers haven't given most of them enough to do. In particular, they've done NOTHING with the prospective group of Courtney's high school friends and enemies, with the exception of Henry of course, who looks very promising.

One thing that I hope this show continues to do and even expand on is the slice-of-life and comedic elements because it really nails those. I'm not a comic book aficionado and I couldn't care less about action movies anymore, so I'm a lot less interested in stuff like adhering to canon and action scenes and a lot more interested in strong character development and telling a good story. I've seen shows pile on with a ton of canon/comic book characters that, but also FAIL at telling an actual coherent and good story. The Flash and Once Upon a Time are prime examples of this where they had good storytelling in their first couple of seasons, only to degenerate to time-wasting exercises into tedious fan-service storytelling in the later seasons. Let's bring in all these famous characters just to elicit oohs and ahhs, but do absolutely nothing substantive with them. Thankfully, Episode 2 did something substantive. Keep with this type of storytelling and don't cater to fans and Stargirl could have a strong multi-season run of quality entertainment.

Not as good as the pilot
notar0b0t25 May 2020
I liked the pilot but this episode wasn't as good. The acting, everyone's acting, was better last episode. Obviously the show is still trying to find its footing but this was not it. Maybe it'll be like Batwoman and it takes a little while to find that sweet spot. I'm hopeful and I'll keep watching because it's still promising. On another note, I'm rooting more for Pat than I am for Courtney. To be honest, from what we've seen, I don't like her much. Maybe once the story gets a little further I will like her more.

Could've been better
aboalhyjaa2 June 2020
Sometimes in the episode you can feel that it is rushed, and other times you can hear the clock ticking because it was slow and boring. But to sum up as all of the episode. It was good, not as good as the first episode of course but it was fine.

Episode 1, the staff comes to find Stargirl. Episode 2, the staff can't function out of her hands? How long does it take to break continuity? One episode.
