I'm René Verweg from Harderwijk, the Netherlands and I joined IMDb in Jan 2000. Since then, I've watch and rated around 2500 movies & tv-series and made some IMDb lists that count down some of the greatest and most memorable movies, actors and movie scenes to date.
I am a real melomaniac, audiophile and videophile. I love the sound of good music but the starship blasting into another galaxy leaves my breathless. I extoll the virtues of watching and listening to true hidef. It's just becoming one of the most expensive hobbies of mine. But can't help it. I want everything to be perfect, both in audio and video world. I find the audio can make the film more immersive than the image personally. A great score or convincing sound field can really carry me away. Think of your favorite scary film. Mute the sound and watch the image alone and not much feeling IMO. Now flip that, and close your eyes but hear the building string instruments, the sound of rustling leaves behind you as the villain sneaks up from behind . . . For me, great sound alone can give me goosebumps.
And imagine watching Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars or Mad Max Fury Road without the score and incredible sonics. I don't care how good the film is, the score and sound effects are at least 50% of the experience in my opinion. Pair that with good story telling and solid acting and I'm good to go. BTW, I love Al Pacino movies, especially my faves Heat and Scarface.

Very well done...
About the flight of a Norway resistance fighter fleeing for the Nazi's and being helped by the ordinary Norway citizens. Essentially it demonstrates well how humanity can survive in the face of war and cruellest inhumanity. Maybe a little bit too long but very inspiring and therefore i highly recommend this movie.
The Godfather (1972)
One of the all time greatest and a unforgettable masterpiece.
The Godfather was in 1973 a masterpiece and it still is and always will be.
This movie is rightly considered one of the greatest films ever made.
The Godfather continues to influence producers of films, television shows, and video games more than 45 years after its release. This movie has become a huge part of popular culture. Nino Rota's score, the sumptuous set design, and Brando's raspy pseudo-whisper have become part of our collective cultural memory. I can watch it over and over again with great pleasure....
