The Halloween That Almost Wasn't (1979)
I remember this dumb little family movie
Lol, when I saw this movie listed on imdb.com, it made me laugh. I have this movie lying around my house somewhere, under the title "The Night Dracula Saved the World" I dont know why I watched it all the time as a little kid, I guess because it was sorta kinda funny. I laugh now thinking of the corniness of the short little crappy 70's video, like the disco dancing and the cheap special effects and the really bad acting, especially those damned kids. If you ever come across this little oddity, and I doubt you will, view it for a good laugh
Cheats (2002)
unfortunately went direct to cable
I work at a mall, in a store across from a movie theatre. I remember, about a year or so ago, maybe longer, that the trailer for this movie was displayed on the tv that the theatre set up. I remember it specifically because I remember thinking,"they should change the title, there's already a movie called cheaters." After that, I heard nothing more of the film. Until, that is, about three weeks ago, when I was walking out of another movie theatre after seeing "Ghost Ship." I saw the "Cheaters" poster in the lobby. This time I remember thinking,"its about time, it's finally coming out." Flash forward to today, about three weeks later. I just got done watching a movie on Cinemax called "Cheats." I had a feeling it was the same damn movie, and after visitng imdb.com, I realized I was right. The movie probably got plucked out of theatres so fast,I wouldn't be surprised if the poster for it is still hanging up at my local theatre's lobby. The question is....why? I thought the movie was hysterical, I really don't understand it. New Line Cinema has a habit of turning down good movies, such as Overnight Delivery, Campfire Tales, Happy Campers, and now Cheats,as well. I really think this movie would have done good at the box office,it was much better than some of the crap New Line puts in theatres.Oh well, hopefully everybody will check it out and give this film a much better fate on home video(whenever it gets there, it's currently not available.)
Cruel Intentions 2 (2000)
Great guilty pleasure
I really like this movie, despite how awful it may actually be. The actors give fine performances, and the story was quite clever. The main reason I disliked the film was because of the low budget and plot holes.
The dubbed in curse words were cheesy at best, they should have just refilmed certain scenes instead of taking that route. I had the same problem with the dubbing of Danielle and Cherie's names. If they could go back after the show was cancelled to shoot some steamy sex scenes, then they should have just refilmed the scenes involving any mention of those characters. The dubbing was just soooo lame and it took away from the film. It's not hard to see why the television show was cancelled....what kind of direction were they going? Why would they introduce Cecile and Annete as sophomores when they were introduced as high school seniors in the first film? And wouldn't there come a point in the tv shows path when the movie would have to be repeated all over again, leading to Sebastians death? Obviously, they were planning on ignoring the 1999 film altogether, but why? The cheesy trailer for the film on the dvd included mostly scenes from the tv show which weren't even put in the film. Sarah Lancaster, a very promising actress, had all of her scenes cut out of the film, yet was shown so vigorously in the trailer. They should have left her in. On a final note, if you click on Kerri Lynne Pratt in the talent files section of the dvd, her character is listed as CECILE CALDWELL!!!!Whats wrong with these people, dont they spot these mistakes? How stupid....one final thing, this one takes place about 2 years before the first film, in about 1997.However, in one scene, when a woman at a store shows Katharine a designer dress she responds by saying'How 1998 of you" implying that the dress is old. But since this movie takes place before the first one, when Katherine is a sophomore, 1998 hasnt even happened yet. All in all, I liked this film(though it may not sound like it)
Desperate But Not Serious (1999)
Great film. You can't keep a straight face all the way through
As a big Christine Taylor fan, this film rocked. In her first starring role, she totally captivates the audience. She plays Lili, a clumsy romantic, who comes to LA for one night, to visit her b/f at a wedding. She stays w/her old friend,Francis, a party girl alcoholic. They go to a Hollywood party before the wedding, but lose the address. What ensues is a bunch of hilarious mishaps as nothing goes right and EVERYTHING goes wrong. Will Lili be able to get to the wedding on time and find her boyfriend? Will Francis sober up long enough to think straight?Rent this funny, fantastic flick and find out for yourself
