Ek Phool Char Kante (1960)
Interesting Movie and funny too !
Get nostalgic and watch this movie from 60s if you can find it. Vahida Rahmaan with her four uncles gives us a very funny romantic comedy. This movie can be compared to 'Dekh Kabira Roya". The music by Shankar-Jaikishen has variety ranging from Bhajan to Elvis style Rock and Roll.
Raju Chacha (2000)
This movie is a bakwaas Trash.
This is the most corrupt copy of Hollywood Classic " The Sound Of The Music." Ajay Devgan is totally wasted in the role. The kids are annoying and look like artificial flowers made to look natural. Watching Rishi Kapoor proves to be a painful experience. kajol tries to save the movie but she can only be as good as a married Bollywood heroine is allowed in a movie ghost directed and acted in by her "Husband". AVOID IT. Watch the original "The Sound Of Music" instead.

Dekh Kabira Roya (1957)
Beautiful Comedy Movie . . . .
Three artists fall in love with three girls. Simple right? Well not exactly cause every artist falls in love with a girl that could be right match for other artist and from here the movie takes off like a roller coaster ride. No stopping. Fun all the way. Manna De and Talat Mehmood have rendered fine gazals. All in all a must see with family friends and kids.
Ittefaq (1969)
Extreme suspense and Thrill and seduction
Very good story. Very few actors on the screen. No songs and yet this movie is a great suspense thriller. Nanda looks very sexy in this movie. She is vulnerable and voluptuous. Rajesh Khanna is does a different kind of role. Overall a must see. Turn off the lights and enjoy.
Shapit (1982)
Great Movie in Marathi . . . .
Saw this movie while I was still in school. It is a good movie with tight story. Madhu Kambikar has done a good job. The story belongs to Maharashtrian Villeges where the Rich people act in a barbaric manner towards the poor. The song "Dis jaatil Dis Yetil" forms the central theme of the movie.
Sushila (1978)
A great marathi movie . . .
Very mature theme (Adult situations) but very carefully handled. This movie has couple of great Laawnis. The direction is good and the end justifies the story very well. Ranjana has give a good performance. Ashok Saraf comes good in a role of a street person.
Anubhav (1971)
A must see for every married person . .
Warning : This movie is not for mare entertainment so if you are looking for fun and action forget it but other than that this movie is a great experience. Listen carefully to the lyrics if all the songs, they say it all. The secrets to a good marriage are hidden in the story. And who said Rajesh Khanna was only a chocolate hero?
Shyamchi Aai (1953)
Made from one of the most . . .
famous Marathi novel written by Sane Guruji; this movie is excellent though not as good as the reading experience itself. Watch it if you can find if on DVD or VCD. The quality of the film suffers mostly because of the poor print so be careful before renting it.
Aaina (1977)
Strictly Family drama. Treatment is very good.
This is strictly a family drama showing sacrifice made by a girl for the up lift of her family. The direction is very very good and the story is in close touch with the realities of Indian families of early 70's. If you do not like a lot of emotions and crying, this may not be the movie for you. if you like to see India's culture of 70 this movie serves you right. If you like what you see, you may also want to watch Mumtaz in 'Upasana' and 'Khilona'
Warning : This movie has a mature (Adult) theme.
Gaman (1978)
Watch This Art Movie
You will not be disappointed. It is slow at times and mostly deals with life of people in Bombay. however it is worth a watch cause it is very sincerely made. The gazal "Sine me jalan Aakho me Tufan sa Kyo Hai" says it all. All the actors have given good performances and direction is great . Also watch "Umrao Jaan" by the same director.
Saudagar (1991)
An entertaining fair made by Subhash Ghai who brings . .
. . .two giants of the Hindi film industry Dilip Kumar and Raj Kumar together on a screen. This movie also introduces Manisha who went on to become one of the most talented actresses of 90's. The story is not original but the music, dialogues and photography compensates for it.
Umbartha (1982)
The stepping stone for a woman . . .
Great direction, great acting and a thought provoking story. This movie is a must see for every woman and man. it deals with the underlying dependence of a woman on man especially in marriage and how men tend to take undue advantage of it. But there comes a time for decision in every womans life .. . .
Manoranjan (1974)
Very funny Adult Movie in Hindi.
It's about a prostitute (Zeenat) and all the funny people coming in contact with her. The movie is actually better than it sounds here.Watch Sanjiv Kumar do comedy with the ease of an expert watch also for numerous characters as the move around on the screen. fun filled movie for grown ups.
Do Raaste (1969)
Watch out guys it is a family drama at its best.
Rajesh Khanna in a career launching role. Typical family drama made into a classic by acting of Kamini Kaushal and Balraj Sahni. The songs and picturisation is above average. every thing works well with this movie if you watch it with your family.
Yeh Raat Phir Na Aaygi (1966)
Excellent Suspense Movie with great acting by Sharmila.
If you like watching suspense movies in Black & White, this one will be a treat for you. I watched this movie in theater and was greatly impressed. The songs are melodious. The theme is very well treated and watching Prithviraj kapoor is fun. Some other titles with suspense theme are "Bees Saal Baad" "Kohra" and "Woh kaun Thi".
Mujhe Jeene Do (1963)
A must see Daku Movie . . . . .. read more . .
Sunil Dutt is known well for doing Dacoit roles with the intensity of a lightning and this movie can be easily rated as not only his best but one of the top movies in Dacoit drama. Vahida looks gorgeous and carries emotional scenes with ease. Watch out for the song by lata " Tere bachpan ko jawani ki Dua Deti Hu' It is a classic. Some other interesting Dacoit dramas are "Mera Gaon Mera Desh" "Pratigya" "Sholay"
Half Ticket (1962)
Munna is very naughty in this movie . . :)
Every body who has seen any comedy movie of Kishore Kumar would like it and this movie arguably tops all the other movies in a sense that KK is pretending to be grown up with a kids brain (Munna) in this movie and still flirting successfully with the beauty queen Madhubala. The theme itself is worth a pot of gold besides all the songs in this movie are funny and Hit. Watch it, you won't regret it though the climax was grossly messed up.
Lajwanti (1958)
Great drama do not miss it . . .
The greatest thing about this family drama is that the story to my knowledge has not been repeated in any other Hindi movie. The child actress Naaz has given performance of her life time. Only weak link in the movie may be the music which is partly good partly average. Other than that you are guaranteed a great time.
Kitaab (1977)
A child with a sexy looking sister.
This movie effectively captures the thinking of young children and their fantasies of the grown. Childhood can be a bliss but in todays hectic world children are often exposed to the realities of adulthood. This is funny yet sensitive story of a child and his sister who works as a Model in an Ad Agency.
Chor Machaye Shor (1974)
Full of Fun & Emotions.
Shashi Kapoor and Mumtaz excel in this tale of a wrongfully accused lover. The story line is simple. The first half deals with the usual poor boy, rich girl love affair. The second half is more action oriented. However what makes this movie really enjoyable is that both Shashi and Mumtaz have rendered relaxed and spontaneous performances. The movie does not lose its charm and the music by Ravindra Jain is pleasing to ears. A must see if you enjoy watching Sahshi Kapoor's movies.
Daag: A Poem of Love (1973)
Intriguing story line . . .
This is one more gem of a movie made under "Yash Chopra" banner. An unusual, partly forced love triangle which is a result of a series of tragic events in the life of three characters in this movie. The original story was written by Gulshan Nanda who pioneered writing Hindi romantic novels in seventies and early eighties. Rakhi was the surprise package of this movie who looked far better than seasoned actress Shamila Tagore. Rajesh Khanna at his usual best. Easily 8/10
Jogan (1950)
A Classic in its own category.
Very down to earth story line; sublime performance by both Nargis and Dilip Kumar; heart warming music and sobering tragedy is how one can sum up this movie. A classic by any standard in Indian movies. Dilip Kumar is young and looks breathtakingly cute.
Karma (1986)
Second Best action movie . . .
After Sholay. This movie has all the ingredient of a great action movie. Anupam Kher in the role of Dr. Dang created magic on the screen. Veteran Dilip Kumar and Nutan excel in their roles. Anil Kapoor is at his comic best. Nasiruddin Shah and Jackie Shroff have done a good job. The music may not be very great but blends well with the action.
Satyam Shivam Sundaram: Love Sublime (1978)
Fall in love with the inner beauty . . .
RK introduces seductive Zeenat Aman in this love story. The central theme of this movie emphasizes the strength of the inner beauty of a person over the external appearances. Shot beautifully around the rural areas of India, this movie was widely recognized for its artistic excellence as well as some soul stirring songs by Lata Mangeshkar.
