The Dark Backward (1991)
Obviously written by a 13 year old!
When I found out that this film was written by a 13 year old boy, I was, to say the least, not suprised. I am a teenager, and some of my best friends were 13 year old boys, so I can say that I understand the humor, and unfourtunatly, also find this sence of humor entertaining. But that doesnt mean I dont find this movie to be extremely bizzar. Judd Nelson's character, Marty Malt, is a kind hearted man wo simply wishes to pursue his dream of becoming a stand-up comic. His "friend" played by Bill Paxton, is nothing but a money grubbing fair weather fan, this personality is well "acted" by Mr. Paxton. I only suggest this film to people who dont mind, or even enjoy strange humor, otherwise all "point" to the film will be lost.
Return to Cabin by the Lake (2001)
Worst Sequel since Jaws 4!!!
I truly love Cabin By the Lake, and Judd Nelson's character, Stanley, is great, watching the first film,I almost became sympathetic with his situation, which is evedence of truely great writing. The Return to Cabin by the Lake has a great plot basis, but is poorly done. I am giving all due credit to Mr. Nelson, he did a great job on the acting...for what was givin to him. I can only think that this film was intentially directed badly as a joke. But what really bothers me about the film is how every other minute the camera would change to a hi-8. I believe the director only did this because of Quentin Tarantino's commentary of Pulp Fiction, when he said that recording with a hi-8 is a great cinimetogrophy trick for "campy" horror films. As in the first film, this was left open for a sequel, I hope on the next one, they take a higher road.
Cabin by the Lake (2000)
Truly something to aspire to
This movie is great. I first saw it Aug 13, 2000, 5:00pm, and it was then that I first realized that I love this film. Since watching this movie three years ago, I have discovered my true passion, writting, and it was inspired by this film. True, it is a strange place to find inspiration, but something about it made me want to write for the rest of my life. The ending is somewhat reminecent of Psycho, the synister stare into the camera and I love it, it still sends chills down my spine when I see Judd Nelsons final stare. Unfourtunatly, the sequel was terribly written. They should have went with the idea of burring the girls alive for the sequel, which is perfectly forshadowed at the end of the first one, but unfourtunatly ignored.
The Breakfast Club (1985)
My little Obsession
I have seen this movie 61 times and counting, I have it compleatly memorized and to say the least, I love it. I first discovered the film in eighth grade and I have watched it non-stop ever since (I am currently entering 12th grade). It truly is a coming of age film and is a movie that I believe every teen must watch at least once. The teen years are the most confusing, and John Hughes and his masterpiece give a sence of identification to all those who watch it.....As the song says in the movie...."We are not alone"
Motel Hell (1980)
Worst movie......ever!
I watched this film, and I thought it was the most rediculous thing Ive ever seen. I then commenced to look up the film in a movie guide book I own that was writen be Leonard Maltin. I was, to say the least, shocked that he gave this movie 1.5 stars, when he'll give other movies, that are truely classics, ratings that are even lower. The only enjoyable thing about this film was the personal revilation of a refference. In Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Large Marge and the man in the truck stop are the Smith's in this movie. I take that as a great joke, lead to us by the amazing Tim Burton.
