They had okay chemistry but the male lead had this slurred voice that it was hard to understand what he was saying.

Solid movie

Warning: Spoilers
Given that this was a micro budgeted movie, I was pretty impressed with the end result. The acting was good, the dialogue felt natural, and I bought what they were selling. They did rush through Lily's death and I wish there had been more development between Beau and Caden before we got to the sex scene between them, but the leads made it work. I was expecting some kind of flashforward with Beau and Caden in a more settled relationship. I was surprised they didn't do it that way. I did like that the ending was sweet and hopeful.

Starts Out Mediocre; Begins to Pick Up
16 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Surprise, Surprise is a story about a gay man and his recently disabled lover discovered that he fathered a son- who turns out to be an angry, homophobic 16-year old.
The beginning was really slow, and a lot of times, I felt like the dialogue was awkward and clunky. I immediately figured out that this was a play, because there was very little action and mainly consisted of just talking. It begins to pick up a little bit, and by the end I was glad I stuck with it, but you need to have patience.
The father wasn't all that adequate, but the son and the lover wound up turning out decent performances. The son was completely believable as an adolescent(I was surprised when I discovered the actor was 22 or 23!), and the lover is bitter but you still want to get to know him. The climax of the story was actually pretty well-done, and why this movie was worth sticking around for.
It's a cheap movie, and it's limited, but I think it's worth a shot to watch.

Solid Film; I Loved It!
16 October 2011
I stumbled across this film at a video store, and decided to watch it. I absolutely adored it, flaws and all.
The film is not really for someone looking for a gory slasher movie; it's more a psychological drama/thriller about three emotionally damaged people who never quite dealt with issues that they needed to deal with. I thought the actors in this film were absolutely riveting, especially Nick D'Agosto and Cheryl White.
It's a slow-moving film; which adds to the palpable tension all throughout, and I like that it keeps you guessing while feeling firmly grounded in reality. The characters were deep and three-dimensional, and it was fascinating to watch their psychological neuroses unfold on screen to what I believed was a satisfying climax.
