The Simpsons: Highway to Well (2020)
Wanted to see more Kevin Smith
As a fan of Kevin Smith I was happy he was getting his wish to be on the Simpson's. And given the topic of the episode I expected to see him more. One Line!!! At least his animated self looked cool.
If you loved the musical, you will love the movie. The music and dance numbers are great. The cast is spot on. You just need to remember they are playing cats which I realize is not an easy task. I throughly enjoyed it and am glad I ignored critics!
Rise of Skywalker was a wonderful ending to this new trilogy. JJ had to contend with the death of Carrie Fisher and the events presented in Last Jedi. I think he handled it brilliantly. I was also happy Anthony Daniels (C3PO) was able to have a "hero" moment. Daniels is the only actor to have been in all nine movies. As a Star Wars fan I was very happy with this movie. The message, friends make a family not necessarily blood!!
This Is Us: Strangers (2019)
I have to admit, I was confused for most of the episode. But, I had faith and hung in. I'm so so glad I did. This Is Us did no disappoint. The last 10-15 minutes tied up all the new characters to the Pearson crew. Can't wait to see where they take this.
My only negative comment was also made in another review. It was made to seem like Jack and Miguel met when Jack went to buy the jacket. However, it was already established they were already friends the first time Jack saw Rebecca and told him he just met, "the girl".
Fallen Hearts-the good and bad
Court Case scene was excellent
Actress playing Fanny was cast very well
Nice to see Grandpa Toby finally
Final scenes with Heaven and Fanny was sweet
Bad Farthy wedding reception should have been a huge outdoor affair Circus scene/Tom' death should have ended the last movie Troy's return was done incorrectly and should have included Jillian believing he was a ghost In the book, Heaven told Logan that Tony was her father when she fled Farthy
All and all, as usual too rushed
Web of Dreams-finally it's over
Web of Dreams basically stuck to storyline with the usual exceptions for time
Tony, Jillian were cast well. Leigh and Troy seemed too old to me. Luke Casteel was way to clean cut.
I don't remember Tony's obsession with Leigh starting until after the disaster of a honeymoon. I also remember the prenup being in Jillian 's favor, explaining why Tony couldn't divorce her.
Leigh's time at school was never addressed and her boyfriend's was changed from Joshua to some guy named James.
All and all, I wish they made Jillian, Leigh, Heaven and Annie look alike except for their hair. This was an important plot point that was missed.
Book Four: Hair Color Still Matters
Same issues I've had the the previous films, strayed too far from the book.
They seem to have missed a key element: Leigh, Heaven and Annie are supposed to look alike except for their hair. This explains Tony's obsession/confusion because he sees them all as one woman.
Troy: his character was butchered. He was supposed to help Annie walk and contact Fanny and Luke to rescue her.
The whole movie was rushed and jumbled. I wish they would stick to the wonderful source material
V.C. Andrews' Heaven: Dark Angel (2019)
The second '"Heaven" movie was an improvement compared to the first. Some characters, such as Jillian, were not handled properly- she was not an alcoholic in the book, just extremely vain and selfish. Also the scene where Heaven meets Tom at the circus, Pa seemed too happy to see Heaven. Jason Priestly played Tony very well, just showed his evilness a little too quickly. All and all a much better adaptation
V.C. Andrews' Heaven: Heaven (2019)
Hair Color Matters
I have read and loved this series. Lifetime screwed up. Heaven is supposed to have dark hair, her mother silvery blond. This may seem minor but it is a HUGE plot point. Jane is Our Jane and she and Keith were not twins. Where were Grandpa and her loving teacher Miss Deale, who inspires Heaven to be a teacher. Not one character matched their description from the book. In short, if you are going to make a movie based on a book, please READ the book.
