Important film, ridiculously long without an intermission break
24 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Why don't directors get the concept of an intermission?

3h26m for a film means the movie goer isn't just in the seat for that time, but add on at least 10 to 15 min MORE for many, who have to come and claim a seat, come in get settled watch 10min+ of movie previews and theatre notes and the film begins. People sitting in their seat for nearly FOUR HOURS. Directors, wtf, we need a bathroom break! We don't want to leave and miss action on a film we paid to be in, and we can't pause it.

The editing was poor at times, jumping around. At least one point there was a non-sequitor of people seeing news of the Tulsa racial violence, slaughter of African Americans, but it hardly covers it, then immediately jumps back to the flow of the film. What was the point, other people were mistreated by American civilians, local, state, federal gov't? Yes for sure but the film is already covering that. The editing at times felt just...*jumpy* amateur.

It's an important film topic for sure, that hasn't been looked into enough, addressing the layers of how one tribe were completely abandoned mistreated by the state and federal gov't. It was embarrassing and cruel the way the gov't didn't step in and help, sheriff being incompetent, corrupt, state not doing anything, federal gov't barely getting involved even after dozens clearly murdered. After the private detective went 'missing' there should certainly have been a manhunt which would have saved others, peeled away at that rotten onion of violent yt people savagely willing to kill for a chance at dirty money inheritance.

I would have given another star as I saw MANY people get up and use the restroom during the film and I myself would have used that refresher with an intermission, the film just dragged on without one. It felt just a bit long, dragging after 2hr though would have been far better movie-going experience with an intermission.

Designated Survivor: Lazarus (2017)
Season 1, Episode 18

Love the show, this epiosode though, and the FBI single agent...
17 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The idea that Wells has the resources of the FBI but isn't willing to use ANYONE from the org is preposterous. She could use her komrade and vet even a couple guys to assist her in going to ND to the 'middle of nowhere'.

It was just very poor writing that an FBI agent, would be staying BY THEMSELF in a hotel after they are done working for the day on a conspiracy to overthrow the US gov't. Wtf?? She's pulling up to a HOTEL alone? They're going into a silo, then going back...alone??

It's just dumb. I know she has to be careful considering there could be Incels in the FBI, but she could vet them. She's not a superhero.

Great movie up to event, then drawn out, boring
31 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The movie was an 8 right up to the event--then the director for some reason decided to show an hour+ of repetitive hearings, drawing out the story but not adding any value to the film. We get it! Those in power wanted to punish Op and never renew his license. Having scene after scene drag this out drag this out drag this out was monotonous boring for the viewer especially with the film being so long. Some films flash right by, this one was great for a whole then dragged on. The many minutes showing the days of hearings did NOT add value or take the story forward. Overall: 6. I'm required to add fluff to this review.

Hanna: Do Not Sleep (2021)
Season 3, Episode 6
7/10
Great episode, season--major mistake
5 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As Hanna is saving Abas? Her friend for the nth time, she jumps down on the hit men kills them, then slowly throws her empty pistol aside, leaving herself unarmed. This is just ludicrous to think this trained person, 'fighting her whole life' who has shot many many people, would, when knowing an army is after her not pick up an assault rifle and pistol/ammo off one of the mercenary dude's bodies, even taking two to give even a pistol to her buddy. BUT that wouldn't follow the plot line where Sandy and her roll around and fight.

Also the running through the woods and guys see their target they just stand there. Call on the radio that they see him, and let him run away? Then with their machine guns they completely miss him?? That's completely unbelievable as well, just a silly storyline for that scene. These guys could gain accuracy by training with StormTroopers! Overall great episode, season, show otherwise.

The Acting was horrendous
21 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's an important topic, certainly, so I wanted to have watched it. After having watched for just a few minutes it's clear there was no budget to pay for actors. Were they all volunteers? The writers too? This is one of the worst films I've seen. I dragged myself through it to 15:50 and just could not take any more . The first case a judge gets, and she's out with her lady friends discussing the case BEFORE THE VERDICT with them in public at a bar? Nah, that didn't happen. The dialogue in the first 16 min at least just, yikes. Scrap it, rewrite. I'll watch a movie on this topic, but it needs different writers, actors.

Grey's Anatomy: Now or Never (2009)
Season 5, Episode 24

Wonderful episode except for the pro-war propaganda
14 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was very dramatic and well-written, etc, but I just really hate the fact that Grey's Anatomy was selling people on the idea that a war in Iraq was a good thing. Invading a nation to satisfy political egos is NOT reasonable, especially since the framing of the show is about people saving lives. The idea that somehow there was this pile of American freedom to be located by invading another nation, bombing poor brown people for corporate profit, is simply disgusting. Americans were not helped by killing people in Iraq. Killing poor people is not "serving your country." We need to get past this horrible, evil mantra. Military invading nations does not equal heroes does not equal service. It's shameful that G'sA writers took on the coercive practices of Uncle Sam. US invasion of Iraq, and elsewhere, becomes more acceptable when the media, and the arts--including tv and movies do this sort of stuff.

A movie about people murdering each other
26 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Not much of a story line. If you want to watch a film about people murdering each other, this might be your jam. Just a lot of gratuitous violence without much of a story.

The Twilight Zone: The Comedian (2019)
Season 1, Episode 1
3/10
Boring. Uncomfortable/awkward. Unfunny. Drawn out.
4 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The comedian was not funny. He was not funny before, and he was not funny after he met some famous vaping comedian ghost in the comedy club. The audience was cracking up after he said people's names. WTF? That's a joke? He started out with some stupid line about the 2nd amendment. He learned it wasn't funny like 5 times, but he keeps going back to it to start off the routine? At the end, the lady comic he speaks her name and she vanishes, but then she's back? the nephew too? This doesn't follow any pattern. So is the Cat back too? This was just poorly done, and I mostly felt awkward and bored about a "comedian" telling the same old 2nd Amendment line 12 times. I will watch episode 2, but this one was ridiculous. The host needs to step it up a notch, also quite drab.

Movie about foiled terrorist plot, or political commentary against public schools?
22 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There were numerous comments and stances in this film that made it seem more like a political propaganda piece trying to influence people than it was to tell the story at hand. e.g. Phys ed teacher is incredibly snarky, and instead of teaching rules and drills of basketball just has them do what they want. Teacher straight up tells parent they need to medicate their kid--which would actually be illegal, to diagnose and give medical advice, since she isn't an MD. And the bored school district staff person in the hallway sending everyone to the principal. Must be a busy principal, seeing everyone who is one minute late for class. All those scenes were a clear attack on public education. Is Eastwood wanting more public money taken from public education so it can go to elite/private schools, making current problems worse? Movie is also heavy on the religion. There was so little dialogue, yet so many conversations about prayer and god. Certainly a pro-gun movie as well, though the kids playing 'war' with air-soft guns and having a huge arsenal might have been a factual part of the story.

Teaser looked good, the pilot was an abomination.
13 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
There was no story here. Just pimps, sex, and violence. The opening scene was a joke with two schmucks "robbing" someone who they observed had already made the DROP at the bank--just a dumb scene. The writers really need to work on the characters, the story, not just focus on the shock value of showing t,a... & penises.

Interesting pilot, I hope they ease up on over-aggressive policing
6 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The pilot was an interesting take on crime solving, sort of an Elon Musk approach, though it seems to skip a lot of logistics. How does this guy have authority to operate drones with cameras for policing and even ones with Tasers? Cops carrying Tasers in lieu of guns though is a very interesting approach. That said, however there were some very aggressive police actions--which a couple of the officers joke about later, hitting a suspect with the patrol car and cuffing them. Slamming the car door on a man's arm. What's with the officers driving like they are in a Fast and Furious film--all the burning rubber, the reckless driving? You can't catch the perp. if you crash before you get there. I would like to see more episodes, but will discontinue watching if this gets to be embracing and encouraging violence BY police. Police officers in many nations can take people into custody without severely injuring them or killing them, I wish that were the case in the US. We don't need t.v. shows making the problem worse.

Invaders want to eat their eggs?
29 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It was an interesting film. I wonder how many people viewing the film will get the connection between pigs invading a bird colony to steal their eggs, making this method of reproduction their food--and humans doing the same thing. There were a lot of creative antics and cultural jokes throughout the movie. I just feel better watching the movie knowing that I am not one of the pigs who goes in and steals bird eggs and claims it is my food, nor do I pay other people to do that for me. Cute little movie with kid jokes and adult jokes too! I wasn't familiar with the angry birds going in, but I got a good idea from the film. I like posting good reviews of 8 lines but they won't let me do that, I had to add an extra couple.

Discovered this wasn't about Trans-Gendered dolls 30 minutes in.
21 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This film took about an hour to warm up to tepid. I spent the first 30 minutes of the film wondering if it was specifically about the lives of trans-gendered people, all speaking in a male voice. It was a perverted film about a filanderous robot-doll-man and watching him pee, shower, have sex and buy a 'toy' for his 7?yo son at a porn shop. For the FIRST TIME EVER, I really wanted to walk out of the movie 15 minutes in--and regret staying. There was no point to this movie just some rich old white perverted chain-smoking dude hanging out in a hotel room who bangs a young naive lady planning to attend his conference. I wish had left 15 minutes in so I didn't have to witness the rest of it. I didn't even want money back, I'm just sorry I saw the rest of it. They require me to write another line, but I think I wrote enough already, I'm not sure what they want for me to write yet an additional line of text. I told my piece. This is the last line that I will need to author today, thankfully.

Subtitles
19 August 2015
This movie seemed interesting from the start. The dialect is cute and all, but it was very difficult to follow. I was hoping that thou hath created Subtitles, in English. Alas, I was not able to complete this journey. I bet if I could follow what was going on with modern dialect I could much better follow the story. I wish to write this review yet IMDb wants me to write yet more lines. I don't know how much more I can write about the film. The rating is lower because it was very hard to follow despite me being a native English speaker. If I were to be able to watch the more, I could write more, but alas I am not able to write more because I couldn't watch the movie more because I wasn't able to follow the movie so I couldn't write any more about a movie that I wasn't able to watch all the way through.

Really horrible movie
16 December 2014
It is a rarity that I would actually rate a movie so low. I tend to give 6+ for most movies that I am willing to start watching. I saw the preview, it looked good, so I gave it a chance for the first 15min, 30min 1 hour or more...it just DRAGGED ON. One of the worst films ever. There is just no story. Really dumb conversations, random stories. A goofy priest that no one really appreciates. Sad. Dark. Boring. I don't normally quit a movie, but I just couldn't' watch anymore. Making people write ten lines of review for a horrible movie doesn't make a whole lot of sense either. Perhaps more character development, more conversations with the priest guy. I'm not sure who wrote this, but I hope they don't make any more films.

Hiro dreams of SASHIMI
23 December 2012
a more accurate title, it seems.

I made it through the first 48:00 minutes and though it is a nice story of dedication to be the best at something, about Japanese culture, the length of the movie exceeded the point of it still being interesting for more than perhaps 30 minutes. A great story that could have been told in thirty minutes or so, was drawn out and made into a movie. There were certainly many interesting parts of the film, such as the focus on the succession of the eldest son, the restaurant winning awards like the Michelin award for excellence despite the restaurant only having ten seating units and no bathroom--no other restaurant has won this award with those conditions. I hope this review isn't drawn out too far, I was mandated to have ten lines despite only needing 6. Awesome work Jiro and staff!

Confusing, great cinematography
30 January 2012
I enjoyed the fact that in this movie, unlike some others, they didn't feel the need to completely pull you by the hand, such as a camera zoom on that clue that you have to see. But alas I found myself checking my watch and wondering when the film will end. The story was very confusing to me and found it hard to follow characters by name when many were not really introduced. Perhaps if I had read the book multiple times (like one reviewer on here mentioned-and gave a very positive review) as a prerequisite, I would have been able to follow the story.

I regret going to see it. You may very well BE DISAPPOINTED.

Incredible movie!
15 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
It is wonderful to see how much care and love the various people in the movie have for a person they don't yet know, Frank. I really enjoyed how they really allowed someone to be human on camera. It was natural and real.

What was missing is really much focus on the FOODS that were utilized. Which foods did Frank start to enjoy? What happened to that black plastic bag full of fridge/freezer food (compost?) from his home? The love and respect was part of the transformation, but the quality, nourishing foods, though extremely important, seemed nearly absent in this film. Okay, he did the wheatgrass thing---but what else? In this screening, I heard not a single tune by the wonderful band the Makepeace brothers, of which one of the MAIN Characters is a part of! Their harmonies were notably absent. Perhaps this and the info on dietary changes can be adjusted for future screenings.

Go see it! It sold out the show I went to (and at least another night), and I also observed many people picking up the DVD **AFTER** they watched the film, which I feel is a very meaningful. How many great movies have you seen that you wouldn't want to watch again, even a year later? Many people, I'm sure, wanted to gift it or watch it again with a loved one.

Future or CURRENT state of our food?
20 September 2010
The is a wonderful documentary about how evil and absolutely narrow focused profit driven a corporation can be. This important film shows how destructive to democracy the corporate agenda of Monsatan is. Not just spreading its seed around the country(Canada) but into the US and of course around the world. This provides first hand evidence of Monsanto tyranny on the small farmer and how it isn't just get-big-or-get-out, in the Industrial Farming system, it's do it our way or we'll investigate you, threaten and follow through with law-suits to bankrupt the small farmer and use the the legal system in Canada and the United States to promote the corporation's rights, at the expense of the consumer, the small local farmers, and the world--with such a stance on GMO as ANY level of contamination = your crop is no longer Organic, no longer non-GMO, and no longer even YOURS, it is spreading the disaster of GMO around the world. Thank you to all the Percys out there who stand up to such corporations that are showing through their continued profit-driven actions how harmful they are to society.

A wonderfully made film! This is a must-see, mind-blowing documentary for is for anyone who drinks milk or has family/friends that consume dairy.
1 February 2010
This documentary utilizes multiple sources of information including the dairy industry, the United States Department of Agriculture, farmers, and just regular people. It is rare however to get another side of the story. We are all so inundated, basically from birth, with advertising that dairy is so healthy for us, apparently so healthy that it is even SHOCKING if someone says they don't drink it. "What?? Where do you get your calcium?" Especially when we are young, it's like we're required to drink dairy. But is dairy really that healthy for us? This is an incredibly important question to ask, since dairy is in so many foods. This knowledge-imparting film is presented in a fun way. It entertainment that can make a difference in your life. **If this film is not yet available in your area feel free to contact your local independent or other cinemas. There are many great lines in the film worthy of quotation, but I won't get into that here. Ering a notepad and a friend to the theatre!

Go to the conference, watch parts of it on YouTube, just don't bother with...
1 August 2007
Don't bother with the video. This is an INCREDIBLE conference and I would love to attend or meet most any of the people speaking there. I thought the video was very poor, jumped around and I really didn't get much out of it. There are some great parts of it on YouTube where you get to hear some of the speakers, for more than 30 seconds that is. If you want to get some good information for each person speaking then it is best just to go to YouTube or other video service. It would be amazing to be offered a seat at this conference, it would also be amazing to have the money to go. I suppose I would come up with 4,000 dollars if I was asked to attend such a wonderful, motivating, powerful event.

Wonderful movie
14 April 2007
This is a wonderful movie because it is just real. Real people have things they are dealing with and are not always making their best choices--Nelson decides to come back a couple times. I really enjoy the effort of Sara to shine a light so Nelson can see simple pleasures in life, pleasures looked over when someone is so focused on getting an account and working long hours.

I love this movie, own it, and have watched it several times. I find it rather coincidental that my refusal to watch, turning off the movie right before the end (on the morning of December 1) to remember the beauty of the movie--is the same action that Sara takes to remember the change in Nelson and the beauty of their loving relationship, right before the end.

Sweet November is a fabulous movie. I hope the film reminds you to slow down and take a look at the important things in your life when you view it again.

Mildly amusing at times
25 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
There were some good lessons for children included in the movie. These lessons were not just hinted at, but negative consequences were shown and even commented on during the movie; I enjoyed those. The 2005 C&CF is its own movie as it should be. I wasn't looking for a duplicate with only updated special effects. I didn't like how the Oompa songs were difficult to understand at times and were not funny, memorable ones and were poorly done. Set to rock/metal music? Are you kiddding? (OK OK I'll compare it to the original: ~"like the Oompa-doompas doopity do", the original movie had those songs you would find yourself singing long after the movie). I checked the "spoiler" box because I also want to say Willy Wonka was not really funny or simply quirky, but was rather creepy. And he's ~35yo and searching for a replacement (for retirement)? I doubt I will watch it again, **I was rather disappointed**. I would love to watch the Original again.
