Wonder Woman (2017)
Great first 2 acts, terrible third act
Wonder Woman has great performances (gal gadot, Chris pine, and robin Wright especially), some good action and visuals, funny comedy, inspiring moments like when Wonder Woman enters no mans land, and a great step for patty jenkins to do big movies. But the third act outside of Steve trevors death (which is well handled) is terrible with horrible cgi, David thewlis as ares is impossible to take seriously, and it throws away its message that it was going for in that you can't just kill one guy and everyone's good again sometimes people are evil on there own and what does she do, kills one bad guy and everyone's good again. Good film but could have been great.
In my opinion, I like this movie.
Yes, I do agree with some of the criticisms like the chase plot making no sense and The whole cantobite plot with the exception of the idea that there are people who do work with both the resistance and the first order is boring. But I enjoy everything else like the acting (mostly Adam driver and mark hamill), the effects are gorgeous, some shots are beautiful, kylo turned into a fascinating character with a interesting plan of wiping everything out, and some of the criticisms fans make I don't agree with like:
Rey being a nobody, Good because I'm sick of this galaxy's characters somehow going back to this tiny group.
Snokes backstory, he was a boring ripoff of the emperor who I gave no craps about and it makes kylo more interesting.
Luke would not kill his nephew over his instincts. Oh like in return or the Jedi where he nearly kills his father over his instincts?
The holdo manuver, I personally just really like the moment.
Luke wouldn't abandon the force which coming off of him not doing anything in TFA is the only explanation that would make sense.
So yes hate me all you want and call me a disgrace to Star Wars but to me with all the Luke, Rey and kylo Ren stuff, I really enjoyed this movie.
The New Mutants (2020)
Tied for the worst x-men movie
The new mutants is a pathetic attempt to make a mainstream superhero horror movie with laughable bad effects, characters you don't give 2 craps about, a action finale that's boring as hell, a boring main character that's also not well acted by blu hunt, the scary scenes fail and are more funny and horrific, and emotional moments that fail. The only positive is some of the actors do try mainly Alice braga, Henry zaga, and especially masie Williams (Anya tayler-joy and Charlie Heaton also do well but there accents are hilariously bad). Just a wasted opportunity
The Matrix (1999)
This is supposed to be a masterpiece.
Yes matrix has good visuals and action, some good characters like cypher, Morpheus and agent smith, and some performances are good like Laurence fishburne and Hugo weaving. But it has so many flaws like neo and trinity being some of the most boring main characters I've seen in an action film with no romantic chemistry, it's bogged down by speaches that I don't care about that's about characters I don't care about that's about a world I don't care about, and so many plot holes like neo being brought back through the power of love wtf, they want to free people and yet kill innocent security guards, sometimes the smiths have super speed and then other times they don't, how can the smiths miss neo via a cupical wall, and if the machines feed of our energy then why have a matrix at all why not lebodemize the humans. Just a disappointment. Better then revolutions but I'd take reloaded any day over this.
X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
X-men singers last straw
Apocalypse is just a slog. It has some cool action, some good performances (James mcavoy, even peters, and especially Michael fassbender) and magneto is interesting but the rest is forgettable with shockingly bad effects, a story with tons of logic flaws, a boring and forgettable villian (a waste of Oscar issac), Jennifer Lawrence not caring at all an phoning it in, a Stryker subplot that is pointless, apocalypse's powers are inconsistent as all hell, waste of some great x-men characters, and just feels like it's going through the motions. Skip this on entirely it's easily the 4th worst x-men movie
My favorite comic book movie
Just unbelievable how good it is with beautiful visuals, amazing action, does a good job adapting the comics story, all the characters are great (Rorschach is the best), the brutal violence is sometimes disturbing in a good way or just entertaining, all the actors did a fantastic job (standouts are Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson, and the best hands down is Jackie earl Haley), the soundtrack is awesome, a lot of the shots are beautiful, and a lot of powerful and thought provoking moments. Easily Zack Snyder's best movie.
Why Sandler? WHY?
Pixels had a good concept but a horrible execution with some of the worst jokes of the decade, terrible characters that are hatable, Sandler is phoning it in, Josh gad is so annoying, the effects are meh, Peter Dinklage while trying is totally wasted, so many plot holes like how did Eddie put in a cheat code in a car and how does it make it teleport, and the ending makes no sense like they say that Adam Sandler needs to play by the rules so what happens, he does a move in Donkey Kong you can't do, you can't throw the hammer so he cheated. Just save your money and watch the futurama episode.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
A well done trek film but weakest of the reboots
Star Trek beyond is a fun movie with awesome action, amazing effects, great performances, lovable characters, great comedy, and great character moments (plus some good tributes). The biggest flaws are the story is weak and predictable and the villian is the most forgettable in the series with a stupid design, weird way of speaking, and a waste of Idris Elba. Other then that, a fun movie.
Project Power (2020)
Pretty good fun movie
Project power uses the amazing concept in some ways well like the characters are likable and well acted (Jamie Foxx is the best), the action is a lot of fun, the visuals are amazing, the story is well told, and there are some touching scenes. But it wastes some of it's concept with hit or miss humor, terribly villains, and some awkward moments like when the girl is rapping. Fun but could have been amazing.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Hilarious, awesome, fun ride
Deadpool 2 is my personal favorite x-men movie with amazing performances (ryan Reynolds and Josh brolin are the best), great action scenes with beautifully Bloody results, amazing comedy (opening credits are the funniest), heartwarming moments, jokes in the background that are so clever, a great end credits scenes, and a engaging story. The only flaw is while some visuals are good there's some that's pretty bad. The funniest comic book movie ever made.
300: Rise of an Empire (2014)
A mighty sequel
Rise of an empire in my opinion is almost as good as the first with gory and awesome battles, a good intersecting story, beautiful art direction, good performances, and a great villian played by Eva green. The only bad things are the characters are not memorable and some cgi looks terrible. An epic movie and I highly recommend it.
Manliest movie ever made
300 is an epic masterpiece with phenomenal and gory action, eye pleasing visuals, good acting, a great story, epic moments like the ending when Leonidas even in death doesn't go down without a fight, quotable lines (this is Sparta and we will fight in the shade are my favorite), and just is a fantastic watch. Just go and see it now
Men in Black 3 (2012)
Great fun and a great sequel
Men in black 3 may have really bad and outdated cgi at points, it still has fun action, great comedy, fun characters, awesome performances (standouts are will smith, jemaine clement, and especially josh brolin), a good concept, and even if the effects are not good at some moments, the film still has creative alien designs. Definitely on par with the first one
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Perfect wrap up to the infinity saga
Avengers endgame is a movie that lives to the hype with a story that uses its 3 hour runtime well and has so many emotional moments that hit well, an amazing final battle that is so awesome and epic, great performances from everyone, phenomenal visuals, an ending that is satisfying, and has hilarious comedy. The wait was worth it.
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
Really good if unnecessary sequel
Although fate of the furious has a predictable plot and is unnecessary with the ending of 7, but still has good visuals, awesome action, great comedy, really good performances (standouts are Jason statham, Dwayne Johnson, and tyrese Gibson) and some heartfelt moments. Unnecessary but fun movie.
Dante needs to add a tenth circle in hell
Hellboy 2019 is a horrible reboot that although has amazing gore and violence and Ian mcshane is good but has pathetic visuals, mainly bad performances, emotional moments that fail, a terrible story with plot holes, too many things from the comics jammed into the movie that leads to nothing, unfunny comedy, and hellboy is such a horrible character. Just a waste of potential
Starship Troopers (1997)
A gory 90s action classic
Starship troopers is a classic by Paul verhoeven with fantastic action, quotable lines (favorite is "the only good bug is a dead bug"), great performances, a good story, and memorable characters. The only weakness is while a lot of the effects look good others don't hold up as well and the beginning drags on a bit too long. One of my favorite action movies of the 90s
Over the top fun ride
Aquaman is a charming movie with fantastic visuals, phenomenal and epic action, funny moments, good performances (especially Jason Mamoa and Patrick Wilson), some heartfelt moments, and is just good fun. Only flaws are the story is not good and amber heard is pretty bad. Really fun movie and I highly recommend watching it.
The Wolverine (2013)
Pretty enjoyable but ultimately forgettable
The wolverine has a lot of great elements like cool action, good visuals, amazing acting (especially hugh jackman), good story, and likable characters. It's not perfect with predictable plot twists, a boring villain, some scenes drag on, and Jean grey only repeats the same dialogue over and over. Fun but could have been better (at least it's better than x-men origins wolverine).
This is how it ends?
The rise of skywalker may have great effects and good performances but all of it is ruined by a horrible script that makes no sense and has so many plot holes and contrived moments, the characters are reduced to one note ark types, boring action, a terrible ending, too much retreading that's now infuriating to sit through, plot twists that make no sense, palpatine makes no sense and is pointless (why not make Kylo ren the villain), taking the last Jedi and ignores it resulting in the pacing being to fast and stuff that was explained in the last Jedi replaced with stuff that makes no sense, and even the effects while well done are not impressive. As someone who's liked the other Disney Star Wars movies (even the last Jedi) this was a massive disappointment.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Worth the wait, believe the hype
Avengers infinity war is a masterpiece in every way with an amazing story that is never boring, phenomenal action that's intense but also a lot of fun, amazing acting (stand outs are Robert Downey jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, and josh brolin), fantastic visuals, lovable and interesting characters, a great villain with thanos, hilarious comedy, gut wrenching moments, and a shocking ending. Watch it immediately.
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
Great long awaited sequel
Bad boys for life is the best in the series with awesome action, great effects, hilarious comedy, great performances (especially will smith and Martin Lawrence), surprisingly well done emotional and heartfelt moments, and a good story. The only flaws are that one plot line about the villains son being will smiths son is a bit forced and leads to a pretty bad sequel bait ending. A great action flick I highly recommend.
The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016)
A beautifully pointless sequel
The huntsman winters war has great visuals, cool action, good acting, and a entertaining villain. But all is wasted in a boring and predictable script, uninteresting characters, unfunny comedy, romance that is boring and could have been cut, and a disappointing final battle. Not as bad as critics say but not that good.
Alex Cross (2012)
Ungodly boring to watch
Alex cross is a horrible movie with a badly written and generic plot that is extremely boring to watch, uninteresting and flat characters, supporting actors that are pretty bad, emotional moments that fail, and a horrible final fight ruined by shaky cam to where you can't tell what the hell is happening. The only positive is that Tyler perry and Mathew fox are trying there hardest. Skip this one as fast as you can.
Broken Arrow (1996)
Not great but you know what your going to get
Broken arrow is nowhere near one of the best action movies of the 90s because of a predictable plot and mostly bland characters that don't have much personality. But it's made up for by great action, mostly good performances, good effects, an awesome final battle, and the villain being entertaining all because of John travolta hamming it up. A good rental but there's better movies.
