"Shirley" I'll join the gym
25 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Janet & Chrissy are having no luck getting Jack to join the gym to improve his physical conditioning. That is until Jack sees their gorgeous & voluptuous trainer Shirley. (Played by Tori Lysdahl. Who appears again in "Diamond Jack" from Season 7).

Jack signs up at the gym with Harvey....the owner of Harvey's Health Spa. Jack confesses to him he really doesn't need to work out but he wants to hook up with Janet & Chrissy's trainer Shirley. Little does Jack know Harvey is Shirley's brother. A very overprotective older brother who is extremely muscular. The chaos begins here.

Harvey put Jack through an insanely difficult workout making Jack extremely stiff, sore & uncomfortable.

Anyone who's watched Three's Company is aware of John Ritter's tremendous physical comedy skills. He gives us another gem when Shirley comes to the apartment for a more intimate visit with Jack.

For me this was a top episode from Season 4.

Very highly recommended!

For What? Safaris?
10 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
....Janet asking Roper about the redeeming qualities of the yard after Roper mentions it.

Well it seems the buildings backyard is a little overgrown. In fact, it's a lot overgrown. If the trio cleans up the yard, they will avoid an increase in the rent that they can ill afford. (I believe It is the one and only time we see the backyard in the series).

Some excellent comedy watching the trio try to clean up Roper's overgrown yard. The rake gag never gets old. (The Simpsons used that gag over-and-over again with Sideshow Bob and was always funny).

The yard is where the whole misunderstanding regarding the cannabis plant ending up in Mrs. Roper's flower arrangement begins. (A can of bis?).

A very funny moment is where Jack has a mouthful of Mr. Roper's homemade beer only to find out it was strained through Helen's stockings. Jack's reaction is priceless.

I don't want to spoil too much.

I strongly recommend watching this episode.

You're fired!!! .....again

Warning: Spoilers
Two great episodes with Terry Kiser playing an over the top character. In Season 5 he played an overprotective bully in "Dying To Meet You." Another terrific episode.

Felipe needs a hand as his wife is about to give birth and asks Jack to work a few days for him at Angelino's. Jack is puzzled because Angelino has fired him in the past and simply doesn't like Jack. Felipe assures Jack Mr. Angelino can put up with him for a few days.

A wrench is thrown into Jack's evening when a mobster shows up for dinner. Terry Kiser plays this part to a tee! This is the beginning of the chaos to ensue.

There is a great scene where Larry shows up pretending to be a police detective. His love of money makes a mess of Janet & Teri's plan.

The sequence with Janet, Jack & Mr. Canon (Terry Kiser) sitting down for a chat is hilarious.

One of my personal favourite episodes. Highly recommended.

I just got a silent ovation!

Warning: Spoilers
Kind of a sleeper episode here. I'm sure it won't be in too many top 10 lists of favourite episodes but there are lots of laughs throughout.

Larry convinces Jack to have a guitarist play at Jack's Bistro to improve business. He'll even do it for nothing. (Jazz guitarist Ralph Grasso plays the part).

What Jack doesn't know is that eventually Larry will join the guitarist and sing. Larry does his best crooner imitation.....and it's horrible. Jack is mortified. Much to Jack's surprise, Larry receives a nice round of applause from the restaurant patrons. You'll see why when Jack retreats to the kitchen.

On top of that Furley is substituting in the kitchen. There are some good laughs in their exchanges.

Jack invited Janet & Teri to see Larry sing. Another funny bit is when Jack comes out of the kitchen while Larry is singing.

Jack to the girls, "So what do you think"?

Teri....."Vile, disgusting & repulsive".

Jack turns to Janet....."Janet"?

Janet....."I don't like him as much as Teri does".

An excellent episode. Sadly the tag is missing in syndication. Nice bit where Janet sings "All of Me" & Teri does a sexy dance.

Actually Richard Kline did quite a bit of training as a singer in University. He sings very well the previous season in the episode "Strangers In The Night".

'I don't want to be happy. I want to be with you!" - Stanley says to Helen
7 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Mr. Roper is feeling down and Jack tries to build up Mr. Roper's self-confidence. Mrs. Roper is shocked & upset seeing Mr. Roper being kissed by another woman at The Regal Beagle. Stanley walks around with the lipstick mark from the kiss on his cheek to show that women still find him desirable.

In the end Helen discovered that the lady who kissed Stanley only did it because Jack said he'd go out with her if she was friendly to Stanley.

A happy ending.
