Dark comedy is a sub genre of comedy that typically deals with situations that would normally be dealt with serious amounts of consideration and seriousness. In short dark comedies turn something serious and sometimes even dark into hilarious.
These are the films I saw in 2021. I might have rewatched some of them because the first time I saw them I really didn't understand the greatness in them (See; Fellowship of the Ring, A New Hope, etc.)
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Transforms you into a new world
I only had access to the directors cut so with all the unnecessary scenes and plot points I found it hard to appreciate the film until seeing many videos on the beauty of the film I remembered how utterly beautiful the cinematography (Possibly the best shot film I've seen). And while on my first viewing I did see the glory of the characters and the performance of Peter O. Toole (Who easily should've won best actor) I didn't see how well constructed the film was and how fitting and great the score was, I couldn't even think up a different score to fit the infinite dessert feel of the film. My compliant is only that the dialogue seemed somewhat simple and while it always serves a purpose it was dull and quick it was like an awkward conversion but maybes that's the point of it, it's quiet and they don't have much to say. It had a great bittersweet ending, he got what he wanted but not what he needed. The performance once again was great and I think the directing from David Lean captured the character and the film so well. It's a great movie I recommend to serious movie watchers, with a memorable score and story.
Bob's Burgers: Bob Day Afternoon (2012)
The best episode of Bob's Burgers to date
This episode not only. Is incredibly interesting but the center of attention Micky, is a really funny character. Bob gets stuck in this funny circumstance and his reaction to all of this is great. Great Episode! Must Watch!
The King's Speech (2010)
This movie has, in my opinion, one of the best casts of the 21st century. The acting from Colin Firth rightfully earned him an Oscar, and also let's not forget the well done acting from Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. This film deserves more than an 8.0 on the IMDb. An 8.4 at the least, incredible and powerful film that anyone should highly recommend.
A Memorable, Powerful, Oscar Winner!
An incredibly interesting story and many moments of rich dialogue Braveheart was film that not only kept you entertained but kept you feeling for the characters (This is mainly due to the directing and acting from Mel Gibson). The film really showed the true evil and good of the world (Which some films of good vs. Bad struggle to do). I don't think they ported the battles or William Wallace very well (It wasn't historically accurate). I think their use of humor in some scenes just felt out of place and while many people are against violence in movies I think for this film they easily could've had more to emphasize the brutality of the story. The score was fantastic one of the best I've heard it was fitting to the film it had a calming, Celtic and warming film yet you knew it was brutal. Hearing the score in my opinion was like looking at a battlefield after the battle it's quiet and its peaceful yet you know what really happened there. Overall it's a great film that I think most people should see the plot is great though some of it isn't true, the score is great and the ending is great (See for yourself).
Pretty Good Movie, Very Memorable
I used to watch this movie every St. Patricks Day with my family for years until it stopped a few years back. So I've gone back and watched and I actually really enjoyed it. Sean Connery was pretty great and I think for 1959 it was pretty great. It should be considered a classic and if your looking for a fun film for St. Patrick's day look no further.
Mr. Mayor (2021)
Kind of Funny
This show is kind of funny at some parts and is decent at best. It's not a bad show if your bored and just looking for some way to spend your time and maybe laugh a little.
The animation, the writing, the voice acting! There's nothing in this movie that isn't great! I absolutely loved it and my kids did too, definitely worth watching!
The movie I've ever seen the visuals are incredible and the acting is great, highly recommend!
this movie is fine garbage don't watch and stay away
This movies sucks the writing is terrible and shouldn't be condoned I think they could've done way better on the character development it was actual trash
The Best Lord Of The Rings Movie!
Most people would say Return of the King tops Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers as the best Lord of the Rings movie. Whether it was the incredible makeup, cinematography, directing and acting there's no doubt that Return of the King was an amazing movie but in my opinion the Fellowship of the Ring was better. I felt they did a better job keeping the story going and maybe it's just that I always seem to prefer the first movie out of series but I just thought this one was better. But anyway this is definitely worth watching and while your at it watch the other two there fantastic too.
Forrest Gump (1994)
Tom Hanks is widely regarded as one of the bets actors of all time and one of the main reasons is his versatility in acting. This movie proves that, in my opinion this is Tom Hanks' best performance, he is incredible and not only that but the directing from Robert Zemeckis and the acting from the rest of the crew, this movie is incredible and is one of the greats, worth watching and if you want to understand a huge part of pop culture and film!
The Simpsons (1989)
Funny and Well Done Up Until Season 10
Now I know if I put that it was only good up until season 10 why would I give it a 10 star? Well here's why just because the last 20 something seasons have been poorly written and almost cheap that shouldn't be able to take away from how good the first 9 seasons were. Hilarious, quick, well written and classic episodes up until season 10. So if your looking for an incredible, classic, funny and well done show just watch the first nine seasons of the Simpsons it's the same as just watching nine seasons of the office or Seinfeld. So anyway the show started out as one of the best shows of all time and I think that even though the last 20 years it hasn't done to great, the first 9 it did fantastic.
Rick and Morty (2013)
Unfunny and Stupid
The humor in this show is just plain stupid, Rick turns himself into a pickle and people find this hilarious? It's just plain stupid, there's nothing in this show I found funny and I don't know why everybody is calling the writing genius, I mean it's okay.
Parks and Recreation (2009)
In its own form Parks and Rec is a great show, good, original characters, clever writing and great character development. It even did some things better than The Office (Which many people compare it too). Personally I think the way Parks and Rec developed the location as a character and the way the humor way not just for gags but also happened to carry the plot at times. It's funny, relatable and very rewatchable. But with the amount of praise it's gotten I would still have to call it overrated. From what I heard I went into this thinking it would've been one of the best sitcoms made. So when it wasn't what I expected it too be I was left with disappointment which ended up spoiling the rest of this show which actually was pretty good. So if your thinking about watching this show it's good alright but don't go into thinking it's gonna be amazing.
In this blippi show blip is absolutely amazing, i love watching it and it makes me chuckle everysingle time.
This show is cool and blippi is amazing, i love blippi and everything he does. Blippi is my role model and is apsolutly brilliant.
Stranger Things (2016)
The acting from these young acting is better than anybody was expecting from kids. The writing is great and the show is amazingly enjoyable. Any tv show lovers will love this show.
Seinfeld has probably the best writing in sitcom history. Seinfeld is hilarious, offensive, and just brilliant, it really proves that shows don't need any emotion but laughter to be funny. It truly is one of the best shows and sitcoms of all time.
The Office (2005)
A Hilarious and Brilliant Sitcom
The Office has some of the most iconic characters and episodes ever, Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute, Stanley Hudson, Pam Beesley, Jim Halpert. They al will be remembered. The writing in this show is brilliant and while the two last seasons aren't as great as the first seven the last episode is truly gold. I definitely recommend it to anybody who enjoys good tv.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Cheesy and Bad acting
The acting in the show is not good at all i know the actors are young but that doesn't take away from how cheesy this show is. In one scene everybody just starts fighting in the middle of the school, Why? No teachers are even in the scene even though the fight is at a school and the reason everybody in the whole school is fighting is because one girl kissed a guy and they both are dating different people. My question for that is why is everybody in the school fighting over this. Anyway its really cheesy and I don't know why everybody i know talked it up so much because it made me hate it more.
