SMG4: SMG4: How To Train Your Mario (2022)
Season 12, Episode 43
2/10
This is supposed to be SMG4...NOT SML!
20 November 2022
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I hate the video so much as the new worst of 2022. I didn't think Mario sells NFT's would be best, but they proved me wrong so hard! I mean Karen is decent for her role given, Luigi is pretty good, and I like some of the cameos. However, Mario is HORRIBLE! Probably one of his worst appearances in any video.

I never like the joke of Mario being a whiny little kid, but this video makes him SO ANNOYING and BRATTY. He's just basically SML Jeffy or Junior in this video (that's really bad). While both characters have tolerable moments, I HATE when they are whiny; and, Mario is like this throughout the ENTIRE VIDEO. Apparently all of Mario's growth and development was thrown out the window. Just why?

I know not every time SMG4 won't make a good video, but this was terrible. I get Mario isn't always smart or mature, but I HATE when he's deflanderized into a little kid. You know Mario is more than just dumb and whiny, right?! Sorry if it feels like I'm super harsh, but I just hate this video. It's a shame considering Mario had LOTS of videos THIS YEAR where he has matured; but, I guess that's all gone. I hope Mario starts to become better again because I don't want him to follow the same pattern that SML Jeffy and Junior went.

SMG4: SMG4: Nintendo Has Claimed This Video (2022)
Season 12, Episode 36
9/10
Deleted 2.0
25 September 2022
How do you make a video so funny and yet so sad? I didn't think it worked, but SMG4 did it. While I like Deleted from the YouTube Arc, the video itself was rather sad as it progressed; the jokes were rather misplaced and monotone in that video. However, this new video kept the randomness and comedy of SMG4 to its best levels, and it still provides the sad plot and ending to it. It's one of the few videos that knows how to balance the comedy, suspense, and emotional scenes perfectly similar to Absolute Betrayal and the Final Piece.

Overall, this video was excellent. The stakes were very high, the comedy was hilarious, and the emotional scenes at the end got me. So far, the Lawsuit Arc is very good because it brings SMG4 stories back to being simple and random (rather than heavy lore focus like the last two arcs). I do like all the SMG arcs, but the Lawsuit Arc is now rivaling the Waluigi Arc on which is the best by the end. Either way, this video was amazing, and I can't wait for the final videos of this arc!

SMG4: SMG4: Mario Games Be Like (2022)
Season 12, Episode 20

Feels like R64
25 June 2022
This video is one of the more creative videos of SMG4 this year. While most good SMG4 videos in 2020-2022 made great use of characters and comedy, this one made great use of the concept as well. This one is really simple as they parody famous Mario games in a nutshell. The comedy was amazing; it's definitely one of the funniest videos this year. This video has the same energy as the R64 videos from SMG4 2014-2017.

Overall, I was laughing so much with this video, and it's nice to have these videos once in a while. While some may different options on SMG4 going forward, I recommend this video for how funny, creative, and familiar it is. A hilarious video that I highly recommend.

SMG4: SMG4: Mario's Mask Of Madness (2020)
Season 10, Episode 45
8/10
I've been waiting for this one
31 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Yes. This video has been released over a year ago, but I find this video to be particularly interesting. I like the concept for this video with the mask; I think that's a unique plot on SMG4's part. It's also backed up with some great editing. In addition, I loved the comedy so much in this one. There were a lot of fast and out of nowhere jokes, but they are really hilarious. Also, the character selection was perfect as each one gets their own screen time. Axol finally returns since Food Wars, and I think he's decent here.

Now, let me talk about what people were "discussing" from this video: Human Melony. After the video released, there was a HUGE mixed reaction from how fans viewed Human Melony. In my opinion, I didn't really mind this change despite it being a bit problematic in some 2021 videos. While I think Human Melony was used well in a few parts of the video, I do agree that her early videos weren't the best (this one probably included). Videos afterwards like the Melony Felony and the Bed weren't good, but later videos like the Final Piece and WOTFI 2021 were amazing for her role. Therefore, I'm more mixed on Human Melony as I think she can be a good character if she's used correctly in videos.

Overall, I do like this video for the unique plot, hilarious comedy, and great progression. I honestly don't think the quality of video shouldn't be subtracted a lot from Human Melony's introduction. Although I was indifferent of that in the video, I think there was more good to be found IMO. Great I'm video from 2020 to look back on.

SMG4: SMG4: Boys vs Girls (2019)
Season 9, Episode 42
1/10
Well, I was WAY wrong
20 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Did I say that this episode isn't the worst SMG4 video? Well, I must've been too nice with it because after rewatching it, it was A LOT worse than anything. Not only is the concept stupid and sexist, it's completely abysmal. At least other terrible videos like Mario joins the circus and Mario is Canceled tries to have Mario do something bad to deserve punishment despite the cruel nature, but this one was another level of cruel and punishing.

I'm not going to talk about everything that has talked about, but there is so much FAVORTISM being put on the girls. I understand what the video was trying to do, but the girls are the ones who put so much torture on the boys: And we are supposed to accept it?! Not only is it hypocritical, but it does the girls a DISFAVOR in each of their characters. I do like the girl characters, but I really despised them here. In fact, this video ALMOST made me hate their characters. What's worse is that I even hate the boys in the video because while I feel bad for them, WHY did they have to apologize? Why couldn't they just leave? They had to deal with this? WHY? It wouldn't be so awful if BOTH sides were doing this torture, but the ethics are placed on the wrong sides.

And the ending...Just Why? When you think things aren't worse enough, we are treated to the boys being hunted down by the girls in their sake of "forgiveness". NO! If this is the only case for forgiveness, then DO NOT do it. The girls aren't punished for anything, and we are supposed to live with that. That hammers the nail on a horrible video Basically, two abysmal lines sum up this episode: "You guys went too far" and "Now we're even".

I'm sorry if I got too angry, but the video is just completely utter trash. This is the worst video of SMG4, and it's a shame it's in the same year as the Anime Arc. I would rather watch the Melony Felony, the Big Bad Bully, and even the Bed than to watch this one again. The ONLY joke I liked in the episode was the funny joke from Mario about a sport. I'm so glad SMG4 never made an episode like this one again because I would be so upset if they made an episode worse than this. Don't watch this one at all. It does no favors for SMG4 fans, and it's the only SMG4 video that activity infuriates me to full degree. It's definitely NOT worth your time. Instead, look at something extremely better like the 2020 video Food Wars or the 2017 video Mario vs Sonic: Prank Battle.

SMG4: SMG4: The Final Piece (2021)
Season 11, Episode 34

Wow...
12 September 2021
Never before have I finished an SMG4 video speechless; this video is not only the darkest of SMG4, but it's the most chaotic video of SMG4. The editing in this video was amazing, the horror theme was excellent, and the pace was perfect. This is probably my favorite video of the arc (aside from the 10th anniversary) because it feels so different from the usual SMG4 conflict arc videos. You can't help but feel bad for the gang, and I feel bad for Mario and Axol.

Videos like this, World War Mario, Final Hours, and Deleted makes me thankful for sticking with SMG4 since 2015. SMG4 tried new approaches to different themes, and this was brilliant. While this video wasn't heavy on jokes, it didn't need to be because it was compelling, emotional, and suspenseful. I like videos like this that evokes emotion, suspense, and newer themes correctly. Overall, this video left me conflicted and fascinated too. I can't wait for WOTFI 2021.

Final thoughts
30 July 2021
After watching all of the first season, this show is actually pretty good. I don't think it's as good as Meta Runner, but it's still a good watch. The animation looks really good as it parodies a video game. The voice acting is great as always. The comedy is solid despite a few forced moments. Even though I wasn't hooked on some characters initially, the characters grew on me the more I watched. That being said, this show is somewhat different show from Meta Runner. There are some emotional moments in Sunset Paradise, but there is also comedy involved too. While Meta Runner didn't focused much on comedy, Sunset Paradise is a bit more comedic.

I initially said that the show was good, and I still think the show is pretty good as it concluded. The pilot was great, the majority of episodes were good, and the season finale was amazing. I do consider it around an 8 or 8.5/10 because while it does have a few forced moments, I still liked the show. Some people may not like it because of Meggy, but I decided to give this one a chance; this show was good by the end, and I liked Meggy in this show. I appreciate all the work at Glitch Productions, and I wish the best for the team in the near future. Overall, I do think this show is good, and it's worth a watch.

Hilarious and Memorable
20 July 2021
Out of all the Dreamworks shows on Nickelodeon, this one is definitely my favorite one. The Penguins of Madagascar is a really funny show with some great fast humor. For a nicktoon in the 2000s, it was really great. There are some differences from this to the original movie, but it doesn't distract from how great the show is. The characters are funny, the stories are interesting, and the comedy is gold. If you're interested in finding this show, I definitely recommend it. It's very funny and memorable. I think you and your kids will enjoy it.

Rabbids Invasion (2013–2019)
5/10
This was a thing?
20 July 2021
To be fair, I played all the Rayman Raving Rabbids games as a child. I really like the franchise despite the Rabbids being annoying sometimes. I'm not sure why they got their own show at the time where the franchise was on a loose end. The franchise did recover afterwards, but I totally forgot this show was real. Honestly, many people would say this show is annoying, but I find it more boring and generic. The Rabbids are quite annoying sometimes, but I'm mostly just bored watching. It's harmless for kids to watch, but I was even bored after first watching this show at 11 years old.

The show isn't bad; it's just boring and generic. The show didn't annoy me like other nicktoons in the early to mid 2010s like Breadwinners, but it was nothing much. It's just a show that will occupy your kids for a while, but it's harmless at least. The show is just standard at best, but annoying at worst.

Fine for the time, but didn't age much
20 July 2021
I will admit: this show does a better two characters concept show than some others like Fanboy and Chum Chum, Sanjay and Craig, or Breadwinners. However, the show did have a few problems regardless like some unlikeable characters or episodes. I remember liking this show at 9 years old, and I loved a lot of the episodes. Looking back though, I wasn't that entertained now than I was as a kid. I was laughing more than other nicktoons from early 2010s, but I think the show was just too simple. That's not a bad thing, but it's pretty standard in what it does. I like the main characters and they can get a few laughs out of me. There are some mixed episodes, but I did like looking back.

Overall, the show is okay. It hasn't aged a lot since it's just a simple show, but there is some laughs in places. It's miles better than other shows like Breadwinners and Planet Sheen, but it's a bit generic and simple looking back. I wouldn't mind going back to this show once in a while though.

SMG4: SMG4: Stupid Mario Golf (2021)
Season 11, Episode 24
9/10
Fun and amusing
3 July 2021
This video feels like a mixture of the Wacky Wario Bros: Golfing for gold from 2015 and Stupid Mario Kart from 2017. It really shows how funny and amusing this one was; this is another video this year that feels like a R64 video from 2016 or 2017. Not only is the episode funny, but there are some awesome action scenes and some brief emotions. In addition, this episode has some cameos from some old SMG4 characters similar to the video Nintendo gets deleted.

Overall, I really like this one. I consider this on the same level of comedy as Nintendo gets deleted and Stupid Bowser's Fury. This episode also kept me invested unlike some other videos this year. It's not the best SMG4 of 2021, but it's probably up there in the top 5 of this year. I like it when SMG4 take either a simple concept or a game, and they make the most out of them. So yeah, an amusing video that I love to go back to.

SMG4: SMG4: Into the Dark Web (2021)
Season 11, Episode 22
7/10
Somewhat good
21 June 2021
This episode honestly feels very hit or miss. For me, I think it's enjoyable enough rather than some other episodes this year. That being said, I have pros to discuss. Firstly, the comedy is very good in this episode. I like a lot of the quick and fast humor; Bob and Mario still get a good laugh out of me. Also, I like the atmosphere in this episode with various locations; it's pretty interesting to say the least. Lastly, it's engaging on how things will do down. Unlike some other episodes, I feel a sense of interest on where it was going. There might be an arc, and I hope it's at least something to look forward to.

Unfortunately, I have some cons. Firstly, the story is kind of all over the place. We continue the continuity from SMG4's Origins. It's not a bad thing, but it had me relatively confused for some parts. Some people would hate this due to many problems with the SMG4 continuity, but I was just confused most of the time. In addition, I feel like I should address the "marketable" aspect in the episode. I'm not going to spoil it, but some know what I'm talking about regarding a few characters. Let me address this: while I don't really mind SMG4 wanting to make merchandise for the channel, I feel like this was kind of forced. We see this trope a few times this year, and it kind of holds down some episodes this year. I'm not sure if it will occur again in the next few videos, but it's very possible. These things kind of drag down the episode for me.

Overall, the episode is good, but just barely. The episode is good enough for the adventure and comedy, but it's kind of dragged down a bit with a few things. It's possible that SMG4 is starting a new arc, and I hope it will be good. If an arc is going to happen, we'll just have to see if it's good. While the episode is technically better than the previous episode, I would just probably watch this episode only once or twice. Like I said, it's funny and engaging, but it could've been a bit more. It's just good, and that's about it.

Great comedy but kind of done before
8 June 2021
Before I get into the review, this episode's concept has already been done in Mario's Preschool in 2018. There is a difference on how both episodes are structured, but the concepts seem very similar. Although I think Mario's Preschool was better, this episode was still enjoyable. I like the variety of comedy they get out of different children's programs. There are a lot of good jokes thrown in for how crazy it all is. The ending is pretty interesting, and I like how each character gets some screen time.

This episode is one of the funnier episodes of SMG4 2020. Yeah the idea was done before, but it still leads to some great comedy. Depending on how others see it, I understand if some don't like it since it's done before. However, I still think it's great. A very funny episode that I recommend.

SMG4: SMG4: Mario Does The Chores (2019)
Season 9, Episode 22
6/10
Just average
8 June 2021
As an episode that came after the arc, this episode felt pretty light. This episode is pretty much Mario doing chores with a twist of course. This episode does little than what other Mario videos do. The comedy was alright with some jokes landing well, but some feeling dumb. The concept of Mario not wanting to do chores isn't very original, but at least fits his character. I find Peach to be annoying as always, and the ending is pretty lame.

Overall, the episode is passable at best. I don't consider it mediocre or forgettable, but I think the episode is light with a few things. It was nice to see some characters again, but that's about it. I wasn't expecting any hilarious, but I didn't felt much with this episode. That being said, I understand why some do enjoy it and some that don't. Just average at best, and maybe at least worth one rewatch for some.

Dude, why'd this happened?
4 June 2021
This show is very boring, dumb, and insanely forgettable. At least Incredible Crew tried to be interesting; this show is just terrible. This show is the one I forgot years later, and I'm not surprised why. The show's concept is lame and the episodes are awful. Definitely skip this one. It's not the absolute worst CN show I've seen, but it's the most forgettable.

An underrated episode and series
28 May 2021
While I think the idea of a role playing game can be limited, this episode is very creative and fun. Each character is used well, and the quest is great. There were some really great jokes and cool action scenes. I like the team up of Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Toad. These four make a great team in my opinion because there is so much humor and tension surrounding them. I hope to see more episodes with them because they are really funny. I also think the ending is hilarious. While the second episode of this series wasn't that good, this episode was very good and it made me hope for another episode like this. Overall, it's a good episode with fun action and great humor. I recommend it.

Great return
28 May 2021
When I watch SMG4 in 2015, I loved the Cooking with Mario and Bowser series. It was one of my favorite series to watch. After watching this episode, this episode left me very happy. The episode is filled with a lot of funny jokes and a great plot. Firstly, I loved that Bowser's back. I was glad Bowser at least got a huge role in this video because he was pretty much sidelined for the majority of 2020 (aside from a few videos starring him). The world tour aspect was brilliant, and it had some great jokes. I also like Mario in the episode, and the ending was hilarious.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode. This took me right back to one of my favorite series in 2015, and I'm glad it got another one. It's probably not my absolute favorite of the series, but it's a close second. This episode is one of my favorite SMG4 episodes of 2020 for the great nostalgia, funny jokes, and return of one of my favorite SMG4 characters. There are ways to revive an old series if done right, and this episode is a prime example. I definitely recommend this episode.

SMG4: SMG4: Mario and The Lost City... (2019)
Season 9, Episode 31

It's decent
28 May 2021
There are two episodes around this plot. I think both are okay. I think the second episode here was better, but it's not saying much. It's not great, but at least it kept me interested in the story. The team up is fine, but nothing unique was coming from it. The story is a decent idea, and I like the design of the city. The comedy in the first episode isn't much, and this episode has a few good jokes and dialogue. If this was an arc, it probably would be dragged and boring because it's a very limited story. Also, the ending of this episode was very predictable and dumb. Overall, this episode is okay, and I give it around a 6.4; the episode before it gets a 6. While it's not one of the worst SMG4 episodes of 2019, I kind of forget these episodes when rewatching 2019. A decent idea, but nothing very unique.

SMG4: SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special (2021)
Season 11, Episode 16
10/10
Nostalgia Overload
10 May 2021
A lot of hard work and love went into this. This episode shows how special and amazing SMG4 is. I can't not express how great this anniversary special is. Not only is this the best SMG4 episode of 2021, but it's also one of the best SMG4 episodes of all time. There's a lot in this special that I like.

There's a lot of references from previous videos. These are very quick and very funny. Without giving anything away, there's like many references. They go fast so they don't become distracting. The comedy is very funny; it reminds me of classic SMG4. By the middle of the video, a lot of the jokes were hilarious. I also like the return of a lot of characters. All the characters felt great in this special with a few exceptions.

And then there's the story. The story was relatively epic. The action scenes were awesome, the suspense was amazing, and the ending was beautiful. This reminded me of the best of Modern SMG4 as it does a lot of great emotion and story. SMG4 was at his best during this special. The episode shows the strengths of both classic and modern SMG4.

Overall, this episode was excellent. It was a big surprise and a great anniversary special. From the numerous references to the epic story, it was the perfect balance of comedy and story. I am glad I've watched SMG4 since 2015. I haven't watch from the very beginning, but I was there when SMG4 became well known. I've been watching for the past 6 years, and I'm glad I kept watching because SMG4 got better. Many thanks and appreciation to Luke, Kevin, and the writers for shaping SMG4 as it is today. I'm glad to still be here watching SMG4 after all these years.

I definitely recommend this episode to any SMG4 fan because it has a little something for everyone. Here's to the future of SMG4, and I wish the best for Luke and Kevin when moving forward. Congratulations SMG4 for 10 years on YouTube!

SMG4: SMG4: Mario Babies (2021)

Simple as it is
18 April 2021
The episode uses a simple idea of doing childhood of some characters. While it's not very new, I thought the idea was ok. Some comedy was good, and I like the childhood of these characters. The intro threw me off a bit, but that's not a big deal. However, I feel as though an arc may be coming due to the ending (without spoiling).

Overall, the episode is fine. I don't consider it great or special, it's just a simple and enjoyable episode. At least it's not a drag or a bore like some others in 2020 or 2021. It's a least worth one watch.

Best Themed WOTFI
15 April 2021
WOTFI 2019 is the best themed out of the whole line up. Maybe it's just me, but the video game theme fits really well in SMG4. The start of the video is very funny, and I loved that X returned. A lot of the challenges were very creative with only a few missed moments. The comedy was amazing and got a lot of laughs. The rap battle, while not the best in my opinion, was still very good.

Overall, this episode was excellent. This is one my favorite WOTFI's (top 5). The theme worked really well and had a lot of great comedy. This one is worth a few watches. Simply funny and amazing.

The gimmicks and jokes were hilarious.
10 April 2021
While this isn't my favorite If Mario was in video, this one was probably the funniest one in a long time. This episode is both really fast and funny. This one feels a bit like Stupid Bowser's Fury as it uses the game gimmicks for comedy, and it works very well. I really laugh a lot in the episode, and the battles were very good. In addition, more characters had more screen time and comedy unlike the previous episode. Without spoiling, the ending was also hilarious.

Overall, the episode was very funny. I would probably call it maybe one of the best so far this year, but not the absolute best. This shows how much SMG4 can work with the game mechanics to make great comedy. It's nice to see some characters come back and the jokes feels like they wrote themselves in the episode. This is worth recommending for those looking for a random, yet hilarious SMG4 episode.

SMG4: SMG4: The Quest for RTX (2021)
Season 11, Episode 12
6/10
Just nothing much
4 April 2021
This episode was probably the most dry out of all SMG4 2021. I don't consider this the worst of this year so far, but I think the episode is nothing much. Some of the comedy was still good; my favorite jokes were around changing things into RTX, which were kind of funny. Also, if the episode was going to be the beanstalk story, why wasn't the episode called Mario and the Memestalk or the Bitcoin stock? It wouldn't make sense, but it still would've been better than what we got.

That being said, the episode is standard. My only problems is with the dragged story, most characters weren't used for long, and it wasn't that funny. Also, Meggy is mentioned again in the episode, which is probably why some people don't like this episode more than me. While I don't mind Meggy in the episode, she was already referenced last episode. I know it's to test the new RTX animation, but seriously? Overall, I didn't felt strong for this episode. I don't hate this episode, but the episode felt dry and only made to test SMG4's new RTX. Not bad, but I personally would watch it only once.

One of my favorite R64
20 March 2021
The R64 series ended in mid 2017, and I really enjoyed a lot of them. This episode was one of the first SMG4 episodes I watched at 12, and it had a lot of comedy. Just the game premise had me laughing. Like Mario Simulator from 2014, the episode has jokes based around the game premise. There's a lot in this episode, and it goes pretty fast. This episode was the episode that had me hooked on watching SMG4. Overall, a wonderful episode with a lot of comedy. This episode shows the amazing comedy in SMG4.
