Bob's Burgers: Bob Day Afternoon (2012)
Season 2, Episode 2
10/10
Hostage Crisis
11 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Lots of great moments in this terrific episode.

When Bob is heading over to the bank to deliver burgers, as the bank robber, Mickey, hated Jimmy Pesto's pizza.....the kids hardly give him a vote of confidence. Gene tells Bob he's ready to be the man of the house.

Linda tells Bob "come back safe Bobby and don't leave me with these friggin' kids". What a family!

Louise's phone call interviews with Mickey are priceless. She's working on a school project.

It seems Bob is fairly strong as he continues to walk with the bags of burgers while the kids are hanging off of him.

A very enjoyable episode with lots of subtle and not so subtle humor.

I Remember The Good Old Days!
10 April 2024
I can't help but think back to the days that the original host Craig Kilborn was at the helm. The Daily Show was actually very funny. Craig went to where the comedy was. That could have been to the left or the right or nothing to do with politics. It was good fun.

I guess Jon Stewart is back hosting on Monday's. The show was a slow motion train wreck. The "perspectives" regarding the eclipse were simply not funny.

Jon seems to be trying so hard to get laughs and it is amusing watching that.

The show degraded to two far left-wing propagandists promoting a narrative. Christiane Amanpour offered nothing but her same tired narrative.

Maybe it's time Comedy Central pulled the plug on The Daily Show for good.

Major Head Scratcher
26 March 2024
Not at all a review of this episode but more my observations after the latest episode.

Something is off in this cartoon. The comedic timing is off, for most of the part. Yes, the show has made me laugh and I continue to watch after 17 mostly underwhelming episodes. The laughs are sparse though.

Some of the scripts have been suspect IMHO. I certainly don't mind silly fun but again this is not very much fun so far.

I'm not sure Richard Ayoade was the best choice for Tyrannis. In fact, I think there are few places where casting was suspect.

Quite frankly I don't believe the show knows what is wants to be and tends to meander all over the place at times.

I'll hang in there a little bit longer and hope for the quality to improve.

John and JoAnna Stand Out In This Short Lived Series
26 March 2024
That is John Ritter and JoAnna Garcia Swisher. Personally I thought a second season was in order but alas it wasn't to be. ABC cancelled it after 16 episodes.

The original title was supposed to be "The Gospel Of Kevin.' ....but it was changed as show was spiritual as opposed to openly religious.

Jason certainly had some of his dad's chops in this show. (I had seen him before in the "mockumentary period piece".... Another Period).

I guess Kevin didn't get a chance to "save the world" with so few episodes. It is an enjoyable series if you have a chance to catch it.

As another reviewer stated accurately, ratings are everything.

Not Blazing Saddles!
25 March 2024
I saw the trailer for this epic failure at least a couple months ago. Went to the cheapie matinee with a friend. Charging a penny for this horrific film is criminal. No spoilers here as you can't spoil rotten.

There was no evidence of any kind of "satire" in this film. IMHO it was intended to be somewhat mean spirited. Professional comedians might have been able to pull off a film with this name but not this cast of misfits.

If you DO want to watch a film that illustrates the stupidity of racism, may I suggest the masterpiece "Blazing Saddles". Of course that was written by professional comedians and outstanding comic writers/directors/producers. (Mel Brooks, Richard Pryor, Andrew Bergman, Alan Uger, etc..).

BTW my friend and I were the only people dumb enough to shell out money for this. (The theatre was empty). Well, at least the popcorn was good.

Guilty!
15 March 2024
Yes, Hasan Minaj was guilty of spreading a false narrative as well as a conspiracy theory. Hasan only takes a fraction of the blame as he has a microscopic audience in comparison to his media counterparts. Most of the blame goes to the legacy media.

As another reviewer stated, this disastrous show was absolutely one sided. Feeling reign supreme over facts in Hasan's mind. This show has aged unbelievably poorly.

Liz Collin's expose was the final nail in the coffin for this narrative. (As stated before, Hasan was not the only guilty party here).

Compare this episode "We Can't Stary Slient About George Floyd" to "The Fall of Minneapolis" and compare for yourself.

BeeWare...

Where to start? First of all, this instalment of Cosmos is the weakest in the series. Neil Tyson deGrasse was tolerable in the other series he hosted up to this point but sadly there is a huge decline in the substance and narration in the series in general & in this episode. IMHO Carl Sagan would not care for Neil's assumptions and scientism. Let's face it, Mr. DeGrasse is not in the same league as Carl Sagan. I can watch episodes of the original mini-series over & over again.

The only reason this episode warrants a 3 from your truly, is due to the filming of the episode. As usual that is top notch.

IMHO it's time for Seth Macfarlane & Neil to take a permanent vacation from Cosmos.

A Tool Of The Regime
28 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Tucker hit the nail on the head when he called out Jon Stewart as a "tool of the regime." I had to watch this episode in its entirety. Initially I turned it off after a few minutes. Sadly this show is nothing more than a continuation of his failed series "The Problem With Jon Stewart". IMHO it should have been renamed "The problem IS Jon Stewart'.

Jon clearly suffers from TDS. (Tucker Derangement Syndrome). There were absolutely no laughs in a show that is billed as Comedy-News-Talk Show.

The only time I laughed is when Jon proposed the reason America's subways are so filthy, as Moscow's subway is pretty much spotless, is due to the "freedom" we have in America. Gee Jon but Tokyo has extremely clean subways as well. Last time I checked they were a free country.

Comedy Central really needs to rethink whether this should be part of its programming or put it out of its misery once and for all.

No Order?
24 February 2024
Wondering where the "order" was in this premiere? Isn't the courtroom supposed to be as engaging as the police/detective activity to begin the show?

Is this the directors fault? Certainly not. In fact. Holly Dale has a pretty good track record of directing some very good shows.

Is it the script? Yes, IMHO the script was 50% of the problem. A dull script we've seen many times. Playing it too safe for my liking.

Is it the company of actors? Yes again. I'm not sure what the producers were going for here. Was it to check as many boxes as they could? Very likely. The skill set of the actors were unimpressive in this premiere.

I'll give it a couple more episodes. Let's see if it gets better.

The End......
17 February 2023
An excellent episode. Really not a finale in any way as this was not a mini-series. Sad to see it was only a mere 10 episodes. I found every episode entertaining. Well acted & directed.

I guess ratings are the bottom line and the show never found a large enough audience. It's too bad they couldn't have given the show a full season in an attempt to bring more viewer on board.

Actually quite sad as there are detective shows in 2023 that are still on the air and not nearly the quality of King & Maxwell.

I know the review is ten years late but I do think this show was cancelled too hastily. JMHO.

"Wonderboy"....well maybe not...
7 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
No Roy Hobbs comeback in this one.

Gene was hilarious on the diamond. Definitely no natural. Did anyone expect Gene to excel in sports? Maybe if eating hot dogs in the stands was a sport?

Sadly Linda put her faith in a con artist to help Gene remedy his game. Big mistake and the results, although sad, are hilarious.

I laughed quite a bit throughout this episode. Bob wasn't laughing at this turn of events.

For me this was an excellent finale for a very enjoyable Season 3. No question that this episode won't be for everyone. If you enjoy baseball or sports in general and have kids.......this episode is a hoot.

I have no problem recommending this episode.
