Good Burger 2 (2023)
a very so so follow up to a hammy good time film
I just want to say having been a fan of the original good burger even given the fact that its not a great film but the thing is it was funny and you could tell that kenan and Kel were having a lot of fun and I liked the fact that the film was about just regular average joes fighting against a bigger restaurant with bigger burgers sure the baddies were over the top and all but I still enjoyed it for what it was. This movie on the other hand has a few funny jokes the one with Lori Beth Denberg at the start of the film was great because it felt like a scene straight out of all that her acting is very underrated the scene with fizz halfway through the film where its revealed that he had been frozen.in the freezer for 22 years was funny as well. But that's about where the positives end for me first let me just say I actually in real life work at a fast food restaurant and let me tell you all of the good burger workers even though I know its just a movie could never ever work at one in real life because its a very hard business to work in. That aside the villains in this were not as great they would have been much better off bringing the villain from the first film Kurt Boswell back I actually thought they were going to do that. But surprise it was the younger sister of Kurt cat Boswell all along and the worst part is nothing happens to her at the end of the film Kurt gets freaking arrested at the end of the first film because he was using the illegal food addent at the end of the film he even goes so far as to send ed and dexter to a mental institution to keep them from going to the authorities. What I am saying is even though the first film was a sloppy mess of a film a lot of the story beats actually make sense to what's going on ed creates a sauce that gives good burger business over mondo burger so Kurt beefs up his burgers in response in this movie cat Boswells main goal is to replace human workers with robots that was her master plan that was the only true message that this movie gives off well robots could never replace human workers no matter how flawed human workers are they are much better than robots. And the last thing is the other good burger worker characters were so much better in the first film even the guy who swatted flies on his face had more personality than any of the characters in this film which is tough because they weren't the worst characters but there is no character development. So I'm sorry to say guys I think you should pass on this one I wish I had 4/10 for me.
Till (2022)
A headscratching biopic
I am for one just want to say yeah emmet till was brutally murdered they didn't show anything thought whoopi Goldberg was ok thought she was better in the color purple Danielle deadwyler was great but the thing is it doesn't matter because the problems with this movie outweigh the pros this movie was predictable as hell you knew everything that was going to happen before it happened it was slow but the biggest thing the director actually pulled her punch in this film she showed nothing on the night he was murdered and the thing is it would have been so much more powerful if she had showed something headscracther man!
Halloween Ends (2022)
don't understand all the hate a middle of the road film
Let me just say that i have watched pretty much all the halloween films and there have been a few misfires here and there but overall i have enjoyed halloween films more than some people have. Positives: Jaime lee curtis is great as always in this film, the granddaughter character is great again and has great chemistry with the male lead in the film, and the beginning of the film is really strong and the ending isn't bad either if you consider the story david gordon green is trying to tell. Negatives: The biggest negative is spoiler alert this movie gets to a point where the twist is just like friday the 13th part 5: A new beginning, what i mean by that is the male lead by the name of cory who accidentally kills someone in the opening scene then runs into micheal myers looks into his eyes and becomes a homicidal maniac just like micheal and takes his mask and starts killing people he hates just like the mental patient in friday the 13th part 5 he is just a pretender killer. And the one other negative is that too much of the story is spent on Alison and cory and not enough on micheal and laurie which is the whole reason me and everybody else in the world watch these films to see what happens between the two people that have been after each other for almost 50 years. But in the end while halloween ends is better than halloween kills and has a better beginning and ending some of the twists and turns in the film leave a lot to be desired!
The Winchesters (2022)
A not terrible prequel but could have been a little better
Ok first let me say i am a fan of supernatural i really loved the first 5 seasons of the series from season 6 onwards my interest waned incredibly but i have to say not a bad series but not the best i have ever seen on the cw but not bad i don't think the actors are at fault here. Positives: The story is fresh and new. The actors were well cast in this series i think. They do make interesting connections to the original series like with the men of letters and car they drive in it takes a lot from the original series and thumbs it in. Negatives: The pilot is so fast paced that a lot of the character moments seem rushed like it felt like they just threw the team of characters together in the series maybe that's just me but i thought it felt a bit rushed. The story how do i put this the story is really hard to get into and i think over the course of the next episodes i hope that they do a little more world building and put the story together a little better piece by piece but they can do it. But i think they have crafted a series that has great potential to be hopefully a little better in the long run and i think with a little bit of improvement will be as great as the original series.
Barbarian (2022)
Very good psychological suspense film
Barbarian is definitely one of the best films of the year without giving away anything. Positives: very suspenseful throughout the film. Acting is top notch across the board. The setting is fantastic for a horror film. It makes you believe it is going a certain direction and then shifts its course. You root for the characters in the film despite all having flaws themselves. I would also say that you should go in knowing next to nothing about this film let it surprise you. No jump scares the horror feels entirely organic and you feel it through the whole film. Negatives: If there is any negatives it's just this the movies basic plot is very similar to don't breathe in that it is set in Detroit and the two antagonists are very similar. But that aside barbarian is an experience you absolutely can't miss out on make sure you see it on the biggest screen possible.
Pinocchio (2022)
Only thing it has going for it the visual effects
Yeah not great not the worst i have ever seen from disney but not nearly as great as it could have been. Positives: It was visually fantastic especially pleasure island whoever the visual effects people were on this movie should definitely be applauded for there efforts on this movie a+ effects work. And one more positive i thought the one new character was fine i think she brought more to the story than people think she wasn't completely necessary but still thought her and the female puppet were fine. Negatives: The plot felt completely rushed where as the animated film had a great pace this one does not. And not only that but the side characters are treated that way as nothing more than non moving pieces in the film with no character backstory or development. There aren't that many songs in the film the film doesn't feel scary at all in the animated film it felt scary the whole time like honest john and the coachman and even stromboli felt way more malevolent in the animated film. But overall disney did the right thing putting Pinocchio straight to streaming on disney plus despite being visually stunning and having a single storyline being good Pinocchio is still a forgettable mess and it makes me wonder if Robert Zemekis has lost his touch as his last two films have not been great.
