A movie with much to talk about.
18 July 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Possible spoilers

Fahrenheit 9/11 is the smartest movie, I have seen so far this year. This movie keep me thinking about how the people of world is focus in America and the people who in this country. I wonder how they think about us after what has been going on since the last three years with Bush being president of the USA. The 9/11 situation is just tip on the iceberg. Fahrenheit 9/11 goes beyond the headlines that Americans do not normally hear about the America's trouble with Iraq. Innocent civilians and military lives are being lost in Iraq for what? Oil? If you are an American like I am think twice before you vote, who do you want as your president for the next four years?

End of possible spoilers

Super Size Me (2004)
The food is part of the blame.
15 June 2004
I had watch this film to understand why people eat fast food. Morgan Spurlock just name McDonald's as one of many fast food places making people. I give Morgan credit for doing this documentary pinpointing one of the problems of obesity in US, and subjecting himself to eating McDonald's for 30 days. Everyone is at risk eating this food and making the Health Care industry rich by eating the food. As Americans we do not exercise enough to maintain a healthy life style. When watching the film, you wonder what went wrong with the American dream, today compare ten or twenty years. It something to think about in many years to come. What can we do to solve this problem, before it gets out of control?

A good romantic comedy mystery movie.
25 March 2004
Julia Roberts and Nick Nolte play two newspaper reporters, who are competing for news breaking stories from two different newspapers. I admire the way they act with each other through the plot of the movie. It would be interesting if Roberts and Nolte do a film together again. They are a good movie team for a film. It almost reminds of the old movies with Tracy and Hepburn, the they used to act during the 1940's and 1950's. The film is reminisce to time when movies had class on the screen. I like this movie to watch because it for your troubles and put them on hold for a while. It is not mind bending triller, but the film is enough to entertain you. Enjoy yourself to watch this film and ease your mind.

A movie not for the faint of heart.
20 March 2004
This film is more than a religious movie, it is an event. I had watch movies about Christ's Crucifixion before this film. The Passion of the Christ follow the story through The Stations of the Cross. The other films seemed to be watered down to the pain Jesus felt dying on the cross. It is a film that make you think about rereading the Bible's readings for me, and getting know the people from Jesus' era. In somebody else they might it different, than what I saw in the film. I would not recommend for children and people who are used to watching any violence. The film very intense and graphic to watch on the screen. Mel Gibson made a well powerful film that has meaning to his intention audience.

Bad Santa (2003)
I was disappointed in this movie.
16 January 2004
I though by look that the reviews of Bad Santa, it was good. My thinking was wrong. The story was not solid as rock. The plot dragged through the movie. It was a shame, that this was John Ritter last film. Leaving on a sad note. Bad Santa is a waste of talent and film. I cannot recommend this movie. Wait for Bad Santa on cable.

I don't think the movie is offensive.
7 January 2004
Bruce Almighty is a good movie about God without saying about a certain religion. It is a comedy that makes you think of God in general sense of his power over man as well as the universe. Outer space lasts forever and so does God. Never reaching the end of time and space. To sum the movie up, I like it.

Stone Reader (2002)
For a love of a book.
6 April 2003
I am not avid reader, but I enjoy watching the film. Mark Moskowitz is actor, director, producer, and screenwriter of the film Stone Reader. Moskowitz talks about various books through his youth in the film, that he remembers reading, but one book he wonders. What happen to the author after writing one book (The Stones of Summer by Dow Mossman)? Moskowitz searches for Mossman through the film and asks why stop after writing one book. An journey of a forgotten book that you never forget.

The show is superficial.
23 March 2003
I watch a couple episodes of the shows on TV. I did not like how judge the people looks not their minds. This to me sends the wrong message to the viewing audience especially to young viewers. Nobody is perfect in this world everybody has their imperfections. I admit I watch Miss America but at least the women are honor for community involvement.

A motion picture of art.
21 February 2003
I wanted to see this film in the theater, but after release on video finally saw it. The acting was not special even it was in French with English subtitles, the only thing I give credit to the director using outside painted background scenes with working with the actors. Using this style in the movie made the atmosphere of the picture. The acting could have been stronger using the full effect of the time period. It lack stress of emotions that the actors are feeling. The Lady and the Duke is worth watching if you like the feel of walking through art work. I would like to see more movies done this way provide that the acting is better.

The Polish Americans (1998 TV Movie)
A documentary account of Polish Immgration to America.
16 February 2003
A good introduction of Polish from the Old Country who planted as a part of American culture through Business, Politics, Sports and Entertainment. The first immgrates to the country did not have it easy, because English was not their native language who came from Poland. It was part of the reason they had a difficult time begin apart of the culture, but persist to make America their country in the melting pot. A definite documentary to see if you are Polish like me. The shows similar are The Italian Americans, Irish Americans, Greek Americans, German American, and The Puerto Ricans as good as this program.

A movie everybody could watch.
26 January 2003
I do not know how many times I watched this movie. It enjoyable every time I see it. Gabrielle Anwar who plays Sonora a runaway is desperately to make her dreams true as a driving girl. A lesson worth learn about in the film. All the performances are great. A film worth the celluloid it printed.

A question of history.

The circumstances in history will make you think different about Benedict Arnold by watching the TV movie. His honor was questioned even by his friend George Washington. You will see the reason to the events leading to his actions effecting the course of history in America.

Hack (2002–2004)
I hope this show will be on for couple of seasons or more.
12 December 2002
David Morse plays a ex-cop who is a cab driver in Philadelphia. Tries to redeem himself from his wrong doing cause by his ex-job to help people in trouble. This is filmed all on location in the City of Brotherly Love. Hack is a good television show and puts the city in an excellent light.

A good movie, but it not strong enough win to Oscar for picture maybe for actor Kline performance.
8 December 2002
Reminiscence to Goodbye Mr. Chips and Dead Poets Society, Kevin Kline try to make the movie his best performance even the plot new is not new. Kline plays a teacher who love to teach his students. He comes cross one student who hates to study. You wonder if the student will learn his lesson when he goes out of school for the real world. The movie worth seeing for Kline, because he carries through the end and holds the film together.

Trapped (I) (2002)
The title fits.
26 October 2002
I have watched this movie while ago. I do not what to think or feel about Trapped. When I left the theater, I felt the story was empty and did not make sense to me. The actors did their jobs of performing, but the acting was not enough to save the film from disaster. If you want see a better film, see Gaby: A True Story directed by the same director as Trapped. Something went wrong when he directed Trapped. I am not saying he is a bad director. In the future look at past movie successes before making a big mistake next time.

Mike's New Car (2002 Video)
A cute film.
16 October 2002
I enjoying watching Monsters, Inc. with Sulley and Mike, then seeing them in this short film. It is nice bonus to Monsters, Inc. that Pixar put Mike's New Car with buying or renting on VHS or DVD at your video store. Mike is funny when he and Sulley react to the new car. I like more films with the characters. I will not be surprised if the Mike and Sulley make a special appearance in Finding Nemo at the end of the film in the goofs.

A house of a unique standard of architecture inside and outside.
14 October 2002
The House on the Waterfall is about a house build on top of a waterfall. Fallingwater is a vacation house in Bear Run for the owner of Kaufmann's Department Store in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He asked Frank Lloyd Wright to build a house for him and his family to enjoy for the summers in the property owned by Kaufmann near a waterfall. Kaufmann described how he like the waterfall and picnicking near it. Wright incorporate the design of the house into the waterfall. The house of Fallingwater is the world most famous house not build for royalty or dignitaries. This house is a masterpiece of Frank Lloyd Wright work in his later years of his life. A nice companion piece to the Frank Lloyd Wright mini-series from Ken Burns.

A sad and shocking look at photography.
14 September 2002
Warning: Spoilers
Possible spoiler

Robin Williams plays Sy Parrish a lonely photo store tech, who is interested in a family through their photographs went too far. He follow them and watch their every move they make. Suddenly Sy finds the family not so perfect as he see them, when the husband has an affair. To Sy photography is more than a job/hobby it is obsession. His loneness to sadness into anger for the family whose photos he has on the wall of the apartment. He not knows when the fantasy end and reality to begin.

End of possible spoiler.

I think the family characters nicely explained in movie, but Sy needed more little screen time to understand how he was when he younger. This movie is not for everyone taste and for younger audience than 17 years. The film is hard to describe, nevertheless it is interesting and haunted images of people. Mark Romanek directed/written unusually piece of work not usually seen in cinema today or in any other decade. One day this movie will be a classic in years to come.

Bagdad Cafe (1987)
A film worth seeing.
10 September 2002
A German woman had a fight with her husband and left her on the outside a motel in the middle of the desert. She meets colorful characters along like motel owner and a former Hollywood artist. Usually the plot make the movie, but the opposite is true for this movie. It is the characters that make the movie plot click together. Unlike any movie you never seen before on the screen. I recommend watching Bagdad Cafe for the excellent performances of each actor in movie. A film saying a statement without expressing a bad word.

Thanks for the Memory (II) (1938)
The title of the movie where Bob Hope got his signature song.
2 September 2002
Bob Hope plays a down of his luck writer who do not want the wife to work. His wife finds a job to make ends meet to pay the bills, so he can write. Company come to visit unexpectedly chaos break loose. I do not think is Bob Hope best movie work, but his comedic style show through in story line. There are better films he did in career that show his talent full of potential plots comedic skill. Hope is funny starring with himself in Casanova's Big Night and The Princess and the Pirate, or with Bing Crosby in the Road Pictures. Just to name a few of his better films. The film was in enjoyable to watch, but the only curiosity thing where he got the song for end of his comedic routine.

Blue Crush (2002)
An interesting look at a life of female surfers.
1 September 2002
Anne-Marie, Eden, and Lena three female surfers living and working together as hotel maids in Hawaii with Anne-Marie sister Penny. They live and breathe surfing on the island. Anne-Marie who is the best out of her friends want to win the big surf contest and meets a football player that friends think might effect her chances to win the contest. I enjoy the surfing shots and realistic view on surfing in the movie. There is only one complain in the movie, the hand sign hang loose was not used. This sign is part of Hawaii way of life, otherwise I though the movie was very good.

An original chiller.
29 August 2002
I remember seeing Seance on a Wet Afternoon, before I was teenager. And then seeing it again five or six years later. It still had the same impact watching the movie as I was young child. If this playing on TV tomorrow, I would watch Seance before any TV show. It is an excellent study of characters in story. This is one the movies made me interested in older films. I did not care if the movie was in black and white or color as long as the film is made well. I enjoy for the mysterious atmosphere the movie is set and creativity that the actors bring to their roles. The plot had been copied many of times on film and TV but never can duplicated. Kim Stanley plays the strong controlling wife who does the seances and Richard Attenborough as her weak husband. If like the Others and Sixth Sense, you might like this film.

Possession (2002)
Most romantic use of poetry.
22 August 2002
Possession is about two people searching for a poet's true love through his poetry. I found that one of the most romantic movie so far I saw. It tastefully done with the love scenes through out the film and get to know characters conflicts in the plot of story without explaining to much. It is evenly paced in the film by using one scene to going from present to an era from the past. This is a refreshing change for Neil LaBute who directed his last movie Nurse Betty. Directing films in direction give a director a change to grow and do not get struck one typical movie type. If you like romantic movies as I do without being offensive, you might like Possession.

Signs (2002)
Not as good as Sixth Sense.
18 August 2002
I enjoyed the movie in spite of the mixed reviews from people on the IMDB. Signs has some references to Spielberg and Hitchcock through the film and put them to good use in the movie. It was interesting that Shyamalan using a former religious man as the main character in Signs. In the movie it make you question your own faith reflected how the character and family feels. Each director bring some to the movie that reflects a life experience his life and religion is a part of Shyamalan's experience from his young school life. He is being compared to Spielberg, but he has an different style than other the director out there. Shyamalan is one of a kind, in the future he will be consider a master at his craft.
