Scorpion (2014–2018)
5/10
The kind of show that would have a couple of good episodes in a season.
28 September 2014
Alright. Here you go. Pilot episode, the protagonists are 4 geniuses in the fields of Engineering(Mechanical and Computer Sciences),Science,Mathematics with questionable EQ and a diner waitress.Err.,Which show does this remind me of? Anyways, moving on, The plot of this episode is simple,a recent software update to the LAX Airport terminal is corrupt, which renders the entire control system of the airport redundant. Here is the catch, the older version isn't available because the company that made it became defunct about 2 decades back. Now this partly reminds me of the recent iOS 8.0.1 update debacle. A simple problem,if not solved may have huge and terrible consequences. So,how would the 5 characters, and a agent in charge of them go about solving it? Now,here is where the "finding the solution" part gets exaggerated. Its like there is not limits to how much they would drag this part to fit inside the 40minutes time frame. The show started off good, and I even posted a tweet about how this would be my new favorite, and unfortunately,I probably jinxed it for myself. Nevertheless,I am still going to give this show a chance, only because, these are the same people who made "Lost and "Fringe" and compared to those, this is just an huge disappointment. To end this review,if you have never seen FBI-centric/sci-fi shows before, you would probably like it.

Perception (2012–2015)
8/10
Neat!
29 June 2014
As I write this, there are quite a lot of detective shows spread across various TV Networks, each with an unique premise. The catch of Perception is,the protagonist suffers from 'Paranoid Schizophrenia' which comes handy to him to solve cases for the FBI.Well, there's nothing new about the premise, but here's what makes the show worth watching.

1.The Episodes.Episodes per season are less, fluctuating between 10-13,as compared to other detective shows, which can go up to 22-24 episodes per season.Lesser episodes means, the show qualifies for binge watching.

2.The show had a good first season, and an even better second season. Some of the episodes in Season 2 were excellent and Season 3 is off to a great start. The show is constantly improving.Episodes 9 and 10 of Season 1 remain my favorites of the show. The twists provided in each episode are quite fascinating.

3.Eric McCormack, playing the role of the Vulnerable, lovable, paranoid Neuro psychiatrist protagonist shapes up this show to what it is now.

Finally,if you stumble across the Perception page at IMDb,do watch this show and you won't be disappointed. Here's hoping there are more seasons for this one.

Hannibal: Mizumono (2014)
Season 2, Episode 13
10/10
Revenge is a dish served cold.
24 May 2014
Yes,revenge is a dish served cold, but not like this, this is Arctic level cold,or rather the 'Snowpiercer' type nuclear winter cold.Too much awesomeness is packed into one episode. A very intense season comes to an end with the fireworks of this finale episode. Hannibal, since its very first episode has been appreciated for its the dark nature of story telling, albeit slow, the story really picks up pace in the second season, accelerates to a breakneck pace somewhere in the middle of the second season and just explodes into smithereens at the end. The result is,oh so fantastic. Alright, let me draw some comparisons here, for the people who watch Game of Thrones and not this show ,this episode is on par with 'Rains of Castamere' and 'The Lion and the Rose' in terms of shock value, and let me add this too,Hannibal is,to put it simply,is THE serial killer, who makes Dexter look like a circus clown. To end this review, when you begin to watch Hannibal, remind yourself to watch 'Silence of the Lambs' occasionally.Although,Sir Anthony Hopkins was rather brilliant in his portrayal of the eponymous serial killer,Mads Mikkelsen is on his way and is coming rather close to being known all over the world for his performance as Hannibal.

True Detective (2014– )
9/10
What an great start to the Year.....
27 January 2014
First of all,a huge thank you and Congratulations to HBO for yet another great show.I expected a lot from this show, and fortunately,I was not disappointed. The episode starts with Det.Martin Hart and Det Rust Cole narrating about the case the former and the latter were assigned to,years back. Now, this is set against the backdrop of another high profile murder, the Lake Charles murder, which is currently going on. While Det Hart is a family man, loved by his colleagues,Det Cole is more of a secluded guy, somewhat of a jerk, who gets what he wants, who keeps to himself, whose past isn't known much, except for a daughter who passed away and a wife who left him.Det. Cole and Det. Hart are two sides of a coin.

As for the first episode,it just sets the stage for much more to come, all I can say is this point is,the show is a sure shot winner. Matthew McConaughey and Woddy Harrelson, deliver a stellar performance. They both understand their characters and do justice to them.To put it simply, they take the epicness to an whole other level.

The script is tightly woven and for a mystery/thriller show,it sure is quite unpredictable.Lots to things are yet to unravel, and I'm quite glad, that I wrote this review at this time, where there aren't much spoilers to be given out.For the fans of this genre, the show is a huge gourmet treat. If this awesomeness continues, this one would overshadow other shows at the awards next year!

In conclusion, this one is a brilliant show that is here to stay.If you've ever compiled a best TV shows list, then it needs a revision,ASAP.

Sherlock: The Sign of Three (2014)
Season 3, Episode 2
6/10
The Sign of Three
6 January 2014
Not even a week and the next episode of the series is already out. This episode disappoints a bit, compared to the previous episodes of Sherlock. Here,Mr Holmes is reduced to a very common detective and the case, according to me was quite plain.

What the viewer sees here,is a case that has to be solved in real-time,with a certain time limit, before things could go absolutely hay-wire.And what's more perfect setup for this than Dr Watson's wedding? The case starts off on a bang, but ends quite plainly.

One can easily draw parallels with the Beginning episode as to how Sherlock solves this case. Unlike with all previous episodes of Sherlock, this one was quite predictable.Overall, its a at,most,a once watch episode.

Mainly because,I was expecting something grand,as in a quite un conventional murder case, planned against the backdrop of Watson's wedding, but unfortunately, that wasn't meant to be. The saving grace that still remains,is ,well, there are no coincidences.

About Time (I) (2013)
7/10
This was Unexpected.
4 January 2014
The welding of a concept of time-travel to a rom-com,well,that,is indeed really unexpected.Time travel and rom-com are in the two opposite sides of the movie-genre spectrum and Richard Curtis does a quite impeccable job of bringing them together, and well, the end result is magnificent.

The movie, although is a romantic comedy, explores the relationship of a father with his son.The central theme of the story is that,Tim Hall, the protagonist of the film, inherits the ability to travel back in time from his father, and how he uses it to his advantage.

Although the movie is a different take on love stories, its like what a good love story should be,i.e. funny and interesting. The movie showcases the trials and tribulations of Tim,right from 21 years of age till he has his fourth child.Overall,Tim Hall leads a near perfect life, barring a few moments.

Having said that, well, the cons are,the movie gets a bit too dragged at times, and could have been shortened a bit. Also, the movie is a little bit too happy. But that's expected, since, the protagonist uses his gift very well to his advantage,to an extent,he can't.

The performances are beautiful, especially from Bill Nighy. As for Richard Curtis,in my opinion,I still feel his directorial debut, the love anthology film,Love Actually better than this one.

To conclude, this is a adorable, fun movie, one that is better, when watched with a loved one.

Well,what they say about humor....
2 January 2014
...is that analyzing a joke is like dissecting a frog.Eventually, you'll get it,but the frog dies at the end.Well,I've seen all TBBT episodes.Compared to this, some are incredibly funny, and well, some are not.The storyline is this,Sheldon aims to become funny,by analyzing humor,in general and Raj and Stuart try to be less awkward.Penny gets a role in a TV Show, but unfortunately, her scene doesn't make the cut. There is a twist at the end,I won't spoil it for you.

But the real reason why I decided to write about this week's episode is that vanity card at the end. Here,Chuck Lorre apologizes to a actress named Lexie Contrusi because they had to cut her scene, since it was making the episode run long. This a really wonderful gesture and not many people in show business do that. You don't see something like this everyday. Kudos,Mr Lorre, you are a great talent,no doubt, but reading today's Vanity card,my respect for you has increased twice fold.

The Burn with Jeff Ross (2012–2013)
8/10
Ah! That guy from the Roasts..!
1 September 2012
Jeff Ross made some outstanding jokes in some of the Celebrity Roasts like Charlie Sheen,David Hasselhoff to name a few.

In his show,Jeff Ross does what he does best.Roasting current events, celebrities, overall ,all things living or (recently) dead! The show, like any other chat show is divides into segments, like Public Enemy and Too Soon? There's also the Rapid Fire and the comic panel,in which 3-4 stand-up comics get together and take digs at current events.

The best part of the show, according to me is the Public Enemy.Watch how Jeff Ross gets on that roaster Coaster, goes for a spin around town and grills Cops, paparazzi etc. to name a few.The jokes here are spontaneous, random and before you know it,you'll be laughing.

Lastly,yeah,its a fun show,worth watching!:)

Anger Management (2012–2014)
6/10
The TWO and a half MEN nostalgia
29 June 2012
Ah! I love a good sitcom once in a while. All you see is these intense shows on television. Not many sitcoms these days, with the exception of The Big Bang Theory. But another sitcom, that too starring Charlie Sheen, who according to me is the best thing ever happened to sitcoms in the 21st Century,is both a welcome and a refreshing change.

After Two and A Half Men, Charlie sheen returns to screen as Charlie Goodson the quirky,easy-going therapist-cum-playboy who has anger issues of his own in Anger Management. There are almost all the ingredients of a typical Charlie Sheen sitcom-a dysfunctional family,a million dollar home, dozens of hot and dumb chicks, and a bunch of weird guys thrown in,finally, dirty humor.

The entire show rests on Charlie Sheen himself. Most of the other characters are quite weak and fail to impress. The jokes are good,in bits and pieces.

All in all,the show could be much better. Having said that,is Charlie Goodson as good as Charlie Harper, yes. But can Anger Management be as good as Two and a half Men,that, only time can tell.

Touch (2012–2013)
7/10
See,Math isn't as bad as you thought!
23 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
First of all,let me begin by saying that, this show is like none other. We have all seen the power of this wonderful subject,Mathematics and the way Hollywood uses the subject to weave some wonderful stories(A Beautiful Mind,Numb3rs,Good Will Hunting) is fascinating.Likewise, here comes another show,Touch. Initially,I was disappointed that House is coming to and end,but it has found a worthy successor.Yes,to put the 2 episodes of Touch in one word,Brilliant! The first few minutes into the pilot, you will be expecting something bad,say a murder or a robbery.Well, that's what I expected. But then, there are twists and turns along the way, that's where is gets good! Watch out how the father-son duo unite people from different walks of life, make people's wishes come true, stop a terrorist attack, bring back a estranged father-daughter together, all using the powers of Mathematics. These are just the first two episodes, but I'm definitely waiting with bated breath for the next one. I've seen many shows, some are feel-good light hearted comedy, some intense, some drama.Touch integrates the 'intense' and 'drama' part beautifully, with a 1:1 ratio(pun intended!). Acting, especially from Kiefer Sutherland is top-notch.David Mazouz,in a non-speaking role creates quite an impression. It is definitely a cut above the rest.Kiefer Sutherland, will probably go on history as one of the best TV actors ever.Kudos!

Sherlock: The Reichenbach Fall (2012)
Season 2, Episode 3
Thank You,BBC!Thanks a lot!
18 January 2012
Episode 1 already made my year...Episode 2 was good, episode 3,Epicness!! It starts off rather slowly....and then the awesomeness parade begins!!Sherlock is one of those rare TV Shows which keeps on getting better with every episode. The writing is tight, not many loopholes and it is complemented by some brilliant performances from Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Speaking about Episode 3,its Sherlock v/s Jim Moriarty all the way..Moriarty is hell bent on bringing Down his enemy of all time and he does the same, one step at a time! I'm really not gonna say more than this, because, then I'll be committing a crime of spoiling your experience. Those who haven't started watching this series,do yourselves a favor, start now! Its never too late!

Episodes (2011–2017)

Could be the next big thing
4 August 2011
OK,let me start my review by saying that there aren't many good comedy shows or sitcoms in TV these days.I was hugely disappointed when Charlie Sheen was removed from Two and a half men,for instance.Well, then I came across this show and found the premise quite interesting. Season 1,of the show was fairly good, with some smart humor scattered here and there. The show reminds you of 30 Rock at places. If you love 30 Rock, then you will probably love this one too. Still what's cool about this show is that, the pilot made me watch the subsequent episodes. Acting wise,The performances by the lead actors were pretty good, especially Matt LeBlanc, who I think,is the best in the show.He may have gotten older, but acting-wise,he's still remains one of my favorite TV Actors. However, the drawbacks of Season 1 were,as I said before, few and scattered jokes, and less number of episodes, only 7,also,I couldn't understand some of the British words. However,I still feel that,if the show is given a chance, then yeah, with some slick writing,it may turn out to be the next big thing ever,Talk of the Town,if I may. Probably the best episode of Season 1 is the finale episode, the fight between Matt and Sean is quite hilarious. On concluding,I would like to say that,Season 1 does not disappoint you.

Source Code (2011)
8/10
If you thought Inception was Greek, you will instantly fall in love with this one!
3 May 2011
21st Century's movies have become more sophisticated to watch and even more to understand.Every filmmaker has his own way of telling a story. But,when it comes to sci-fi,using some of the basic science concepts an weaving it to a movie's storyline is just amazing. Having said that,Source Code relies upon Quantum Mechanics in its storyline. Now Quantum Mechanics,as most people know,is one of the most complicated branches of Science ever.So naturally, the movie goer expects a twisted screenplay. But the biggest factor acting in the movie's favor is its lucid style of storytelling, that keeps the audience hooked to the screens from the first minute of the movie till the end. The movie reminds you of Deja Vu and Vantage Point at places.Especially, the Vantage Point's way of story telling,by replaying the some of the same scenes again and again, and at the same time, revealing some important twists along the way. Although an intense action/sci-fi/mystery thriller, the movie will be loved by men and women, movie buffs and non-movie buffs alike. Although the movie boasts of many plus-points,I was quite disappointed with the visual effects in this movie.Blame me,but my eyes have only begun to accept High Definition and filter everything out! On the acting front,I think this is a landmark movie for Jake Gyllenhaal, and he will be popularly known the world over as the "Source Code" star. Although,I expected more of Vera Farmiga on screen. OK,let me stop here now,on thing though, don't read the synopsis until you watch the movie on big-screen! Trust me,this is one of those movies, where you should blindly go by what the Movie Critic says....!

Cast Away (2000)
8/10
Loneliness definitely haunts........
8 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Imagine being in a island alone for four long years, with no company,no shelter, surrounded by saline water all over. How would you feel?

Only Tom Hanks can make such good movies.I absolutely loved Forrest Gump,Apollo 13,and now this!I just watched it a few days ago and six years later and every part of the movie remains etched in my memory. The story is simple,it is about how Chuck Noland(Tom Hanks),a FedEx employee becomes a castaway in a island after a terrible plane crash in the ocean,is left to fend for himself. The rest is how he survives the island and finally comes out of it.

The locations are exotic and the story is wonderfully executed. As for the Special Effects,it's amazing.

The movie, like Forrest Gump,The Shawshank Redemption,Its A Wonderful Life speaks about hope, courage, survival and in short about the strange twist and turns of fate.Frame by Frame, the movie reminds you of Robinson Crusoe but, then you realize that even a common man can become a Crusoe,if he wants to get back to his world, his family, his love.

On the acting front, the movies,in its entirety belongs to Tom Hanks,Helen Hunt does her part well, but the rest of the cast come only for a while in the beginning and in the end.Its a Tom Hanks show all the way.

While I can't call it a masterpiece, the movie is definitely worth to be watched a few times.

Thank You for reading

Have patience-till the interval
28 March 2009
Thrillers are my favorite genre of movies.2009-there were already 2 of them.Raaz 2 and 13B.I liked Raaz 2,but I was not so sure that 13B would be good.I watched this movie in a theater(which I rarely do for Hindi movies) and the verdict-13B Rocks.Initially, the first half of the movie had nothing to offer, but guys have patience till the interval. Then begins the real story.I am not going to say anything about the movie here, but TV is the real hero of the film.Climax is excellent and Madhavan,as usual is cool.1st half could have been much much better.Overall,I loved the movie.I hope to see many more thrillers in 2009.

OK!Once Watch Movie
11 November 2007
I think the movie is a very usual love story, and if you really want to see it,wait for the DVDs.The movie lacks pace, and its climax is also disappointing. The cast was good, but the other features fail to attract, Like the story, screenplay.Never waste your money to watch the movie.Give it a miss. The Hero sets to explore the heroine's mysterious past, and I still don't understand what is Rani Mukerjee's character in the movie.Besides,I actually slept for a while during the movie, then woke up. I don't believe that Bhansali has directed this move. Speaking about the music, all songs are pleasant to hear, and also gives a break from the Jazz and Rock songs of the Present day
