Forgotten TV Westerns (2016 Video)
10/10
For fans!.
24 December 2023
If you are one of those who enjoy seat for a while watching and remebering good moments when one comes back home from school in the afternoons and...there´s no such things as mobile phones, computers, streamming channels...even dvs or blue-ray discs...only a tv-set..sometimes..in black and white ..still..Certainly you should have fun with this small piece..or have to say great ...of work.

It´s all there..gunfires,brawls,horses ,indians, heroes and villains, carriages and stagecoachs...all packed in small but woderfully chosen scenes of some very known showns like BONANZA and THE LONE RANGER and some forgotten masterpieces.

There´s just one issue..too short!... But the producers will be back.

Very good oldie.
1 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Very funny and watchable. Good actors, the fight sequences are ok,the props...fantastic toys, the special effects ..are something. The rocket, the story, visual effects are timeless for whom ,like myself, are huge fans of oldies and films from the fifties and sixties but the very best, with any doubt are the BENTLEY and the LAND ROVER SERIES 1...with comes and gos during the whole film...are the stars in many sequences, including the interior of the vehicles are well presented. The land rover with and without dust...and the wonderful moments when the bentley is the main character;one is the gate menacing sequence and the other alien hidden sequence. My rating is 10 mostly because of the cars.

Good film!
7 August 2022
My titlle is so simple like this.

I'm not Africaans ,of course, but someone that is very interested in South African culture for a long time and a huge fan of Mr Vosloo as an actor.

Not being a masterpiece, the film gave us some moments of thrill.

I really enjoy productions based in real events but the problem with this one is that are too many liberties in the script .The real facts....are another story!.

It certainly could be better!

Terrific GOOD!!!
5 January 2022
This film is a perfect exemple of the old saying... that's so bad ...that's wonderful!!!.

Wacht it whitout any prejudice and you will have a lot of fun.

I consider it a classic from the 80's. To the admirers,i recommend a blue-ray edition with extras just out now in UK.

Regular western.
26 December 2021
I am admirer of Budd Boetticher'films, mainly the ones with Randolph Scott, this one being nothing but watchable.

My copy has some color problems being the night or dawn scenes darker than it should be,some action is lost which cause some distress to the viewer. I 've read that the film is in process of restoraration. I look forward to...

Anyway, this one is just a regular western with some good action scenes. Rate 6!

Pink thunderbird
19 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have to confess that, for the moment, i'm doing an arrangement and classification of my private films collection...this particular film was in the western section..which in my opinion..that´s certainly not!

Adventure,maybe?!...with some incongruences and minuendos that are great to the goof section...one simple example....the probably 5 tons boulder foot smashing scene. The first 40 minutes are ok and the best is the pink thunderbird.

My Best Fiend (1999)

Kinski versus Herzog
10 September 2009
uoahhh!!!! I really think this is the only expression one can experiment at the end of this masterpiece!!! Does everybody knows the magnificent and intrinsic magic of that unusual relationship? If ,for some reason ,you are fan of one these guys, please do not miss it!!!!.

This "HERZOGIANDOKUMENTAR" is the best in his filmography,it consolidates the basic principles of filming gathered together with life lessons about friendship and, above all, human relationships.

y can remember now all the turmoil of sensations that had run in my mind just before the end and after it ended.A deep sense of understanding and comprehension of what human nature is,specially, amongst those who lives from the outstanding art of performance and filming.

Strongly recommended!!!.

Where is steiner now?
6 July 2009
It is necessary a great filmmaker to transform a simple sport in something interesting and fascinating. This 45 minutes documentary show us that it is possible!. HERZOG acts as a witness leaving STEINER do the entire work becoming a bird and talking freely about his fears. One the most amazing moments is when STEINER tell us a certain story that happened when he was a child, pure poetry in complete resonance with the film as a whole. In other moments ,the camera captures in a thrilling way all the danger involved in ski-jumping. STEINER made a small appearance in other HERZOG'S masterpiece, KASPAR HAUSER. Where is STEINER now?. I have read in internet that he lives in a small village in Sweden and works as a Gardener.

Cobra Verde (1987)
7/10
Odd Herzog!
6 July 2009
My vote for COBRA VERDE was 7 out 10 because is HERZOG...That's all. It is really hard to see blonde deep blue eyes KINSKY playing a Brazilian bandit from the northeast region,Bahia or Pernanbuco, sometimes during the film it is not clear from which Brazilian state COBRA VERDE comes from.It burdens me a lot to see the bandit "jumping" from somewhere in the countryside of the Brazilian wastelands to a typical Andine village barefoot to find a strange bar-owner who speaks perfect German and then... come back again to Brazil to find Brazilian/Portuguese rich farm-owner who speaks...perfect German. There are two aspects in the film that amazed me ,the wonderful African landscapes astonishing well filmed and the historical background. There is no doubt, the last few minutes are,in my opinion, the best ever filmed.

In conclusion,COBRA VERDE is the worst HERZOG i have seen until now, but...still is HERZOG.

A film to dream about it.
6 July 2009
DER VERLORENE is one of these films that at first seemed to me very confusing and brought me the sensation "i am not following...".I rated it 8 out of 10 mainly because of the wonderful film-noir atmosphere, the black and white photograph, the very well filmed scenes on the streets of "old" Hamburg and ,above all,the extraordinary last minutes.

Then, time passed and months later ,i still have that strange feeling in my mind ,i have been dreaming with that loneness and absurd madness of the main character-the doctor played by Peter Lorre. So i decided to include DER VERLORENE amongst my personal list of best films ever and change my vote to 10 out of 10.

Sometimes a good work of art takes its necessary time to mature as a good wine!.In my humble opinion that is the case of this film.

The Greek monster.
1 July 2009
I bought this film with another 49 from amazon.com.It came within the famous sci-fi pack so many times here commented among IMDb-USERS.What surprises me more is this paradox,an 3.5(MARK) but 35 comments.

Generally speaking,it is a good adventure in a film with serious problems of photography(the copy that i have!),a monster that we rarely see, peasants of a small Greek island and a stupid blonde.

These characters were mixed-up with a gorgeous couple and a some sort of"archaeologist" who is fan of destroying monuments instead of study them to fulfill this story.Nothing great ,but one can watch it without commitment.

Superb!!!!
25 June 2009
The first time i've heard about the WODAABE people was in the NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC MAGAZINE some years ago and i was fascinated by their marriage ritual.I've asked myself many times what are the origins of such strange and amazing ritual. As a HERZOG'S fan it was a great surprise to discover this documentary not so easy to find and a "little bit" forgot in the middle of HERZOG'S MASTERPIECES.The first scenes are absolutely fantastic.I was mesmerised!!!.Educative experience or simply watching for pleasure, this film is not a waste of time at all.It will show you how simple human society could be ,therefore how one could live with basic and traditional principles regardless of the daily challenges who lives in a hard environment would deal with.In my opinion this work is a lesson of life.

El camiño
25 June 2009
Unfortunately, this is one of these films not very well known by big audiences even in its country of origin. In a simple but poetic way ALGORA tries to tell us the story of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela throughout centuries following the way made by a young pilgrim from West-France to Finisterra, during which one can have a slight idea of how it was in the middle age, peril included.

The best of this documentary is the photography.Galiza has astonishing landscapes and magnificent views by itself that was very well kept by the team in charge.

Poetry, legend and History were here gathered together to tell us in some minutes an almost 2000 years story.

Good German war adventure.
24 June 2009
In my opinion,it's really interesting to watch this sort of films and see to the other side of the hill,i mean the war by the perspective of the Germans. There is another title that i strongly recommend to those who intend to experience something different from all the American and British war movies easy to consume in which the "GOOD GUYS" beats the "BAD Nazis",the film i am referring to is DER STERN VON AFRIKA. I could cite other recent examples where one can have some knowledge of the war stories and adventures from the "enemies" point of view, but i think the great deal here is that we are talking about works made at a time close to historical events what shows some sort of authenticity and that is the case of ROMMEL RUFT KAIRO including the fact of being filmed in real locations at Cairo and Sahara desert.
