I first saw this in 2007 on a dvd which I own.
Revisited it recently on YouTube since I am planning to watch it's sequel. Lazy to play the dvd player.
I am a fan of killer dogs movie but this one is tame compared to the other ones.
Wes Craven's name is added to entice viewers but he is not connected to this movie at all. He returned the favor to the film's director, Mastandrea, who worked as an assistant director to Craven's movies.
Michelle Rodriguez is the only familiar face.
I enjoyed the movie then. Entire movie is shot in broad daylight n the dogs r menacing.
But after revisiting, i found it to be dull, less body count n suspense n thrill almost missing.
Apart from the merry go round impaling scene, ther ain't anything gory. One tension filled scene of that of Michelle Rodriguez's character hanging on a rope n pack of dogs jumping to pounce on her.
In one scene when a character goes to the basement, he finds bottles of wines.
All the wine bottles r full of dust but the bottle he picks up is solid clean.
Also nothing is explained about the experiments on the dogs.

I saw this in MovieTime Suburbia Bandra with my family.
After a long time i enjoyed a good horror movie in a theatre. Jus few days back i had seen the lousy Heart Eyes, a wannabe slasher.
This movie has solid amount of tension, suspense n some of the most inventive n gory kills.
This movie even has some good humor but it is very terrifying at times.
The effects r top notch n so is the cinematography.
One of the best part is the editing. The movie moves at a good pace without having unnecessary characters or unnecessary plot.
All in all a must watch in theatres.
Tony Todd looks very pale due to his real life sickness but he managed to pull thru n he gave a befitting reply, goodluck.
Of course he will be missed in horror movies.

I got enticed into seeing this cos of the trailer n the premise of the movie's story taking place in an asylum with just a few doctors n security guards hunted down by an intimidating, aggressive, fast and furious killer.
It's pretty obvious that the director is influenced by Assault on Precinct 13, Last Shift n Asylum Blackout.
Most people r complaining how the killer got out of the confinement. Mayb they didn't see the entire movie. It is revealed in the end that he was helped by ......
Of course even i can't fathom how the killer got hold of a meat cleaver n how he was able to track down the Asian security guard in the toilet.
Also why the killer lets Jeeves (the old security guard with heart problem) go for no particular reason.
The movie has few tensed moments, the chase scenes are heart pounding.
I expected a showdown between the killer n Ashley's boyfriend Mason (played by one of the writers) but alas.
The poster looked very similar to Storm Warning, a guy with a machete surrounded by red color.
