The Wonder Years (2021–2023)
9/10
A different kind of Wonder
22 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When I heard there was a remake happening, I wasn't to keen on the idea. But then I found out it was going to be from the perspective of a Black family and that piqued my interest. I like this version! Sure, the original was amazing! We wanted Kevin and Winnie to be together forever! But you can't compare the two because they are each their own perspective. And why not have a different perspective? They're definitely not going to be the same.

Spoiler alert My favorite episode is #19, Love & War. The older brother Bruce is back from the Vietnam war, and at one point, he takes Dean to go see a dead comrade's parents. Later Bruce and Dean are talking, and he shows a picture of his friend and his little sister, Gwendolyn. Turns out to be Winnie. I like this reference.

Great Escapism film!
21 December 2020
I watch this film off and on since it came out on dvd. It's a great romance film that includes some great details during the time those great artists were in Paris. Great visuals of the City of Lights. I also like watching it when I miss Paris. It is cleverly written and the acting is first rate! It's a great movie to watch on a rainy day, with some wine...or whiskey. Enjoy watching alone...or with ton amour!

Emily in Paris (2020– )
8/10
It's the ultimate dream, with a little realism
1 November 2020
I love Paris. Love to visit and can't wait to return. Emily in Paris is what some young women dream and think that they could be her. But the reality is that it's not that easy. This is an interesting series and I watched it for the scenery. It also helps my French listening to the Parisians talking.

Most of the Parisians I've encountered have been very polite. My high school French gets me through the country. Some have allowed me to practice my French which you'd think Emily, with all her energy and gung-ho, would be practicing and learning with the same amount of attention like how she approaches her projects.

It's entertaining to watch and not to be taken so seriously. I can see the French are not too pleased, I wouldn't be either. Granted, there are some French who are rude, like the guy that was behind me when I was trying to buy my pastries. Again, EIP is a fantasy show. Although, I think that it's a version of Carrie Bradshaw if she were in her twenties living right now. Her Paris adventure was never really explored fully. EIP looks like a "what if?"

I do hope there's a season two.

Could have been so much better!!!!
3 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Since it was on STARZ, I thought what the heck since I didn't have to pay for it at the theaters and waste my time. It took me about three days to watch. The first day, I watched it to see if I would be interested in finishing it. I was a little intrigued. I liked how the Townsend Agency has gone global since if I recall, when they were in Hawaii for the last season, I think they only had offices in Los Angels, Honolulu, and Milan? A few days later I watched it some more and was...meh...and I rarely use that word. Another few days later and I just finished it....well, I started watching it and it has some clever points like the mind, body and soul guy, the different offices, the other "angels" that help along the way.

However, read a few mainstream reviews, and rewatched it because I think I fell asleep through part of it. The story could've been stronger and considering Banks wrote, directed and starred, more star power in the angels...she could've cast someone from Pitch Perfect. There had to be a stronger chemistry between the three angels. Who knows, maybe a second one could be better....stranger things have happened.

What I really liked, and what they could've really developed a story within a story, was when Kelly Garrett appeared, and whom I assume is running the agency. But just think if the story made stronger references to the angels who came before and had them more involved. This would've given it more mass appeal because the fans of yore would flock to go see it. Not enough character development for the audience to connect with, although I kinda liked Kristin Stewart's Sabina, who was always hungry.

Again, too bad the plot was weak because it could've been soooooo good!

Fun movie to watch!
20 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of those ABC movies of the week that I remember watching with my family, so it brings a sense of nostalgia when I watched it. Donna Mills is hot! She does a great job with the character! I like the police calls that she makes her son remember, what a great idea! The physical part is plausible because I've worked with some small women who are amazing akido athletes, and it makes you think twice.

William Devane's character is interesting! How he picks his victims is something that could be done, so that is a little disturbing. The 70s style of cars and clothes is cool to see. Interesting that both Mills and Devane would work together again in Knots Landing as lovers and enemies.

It's not Emmy or Oscar worthy, but worth watching on a rainy day!

Effing FUN Movie!!!!
13 February 2016
I was laughing at the get go! This reminds me of Guardians of the Galaxy but funnier! So good for Ryan Reynolds that people can forgive him for Green Lantern. He is in his element!

PARENTAL WARNING!!!!! There is some very adult humor so it's up to you if you want to bring the kiddies.

Lots of great characters and one liners...loved the old school references, and the soundtrack was pretty cool! Great seeing Leslie Uggams as a wisecracking roommate!!! Great action scenes and then when it would start to get too serious, someone would say something to make us laugh...and we all laughed hard! I would definitely go see this again on the big screen! Can't wait for the blue ray and I wonder what kind of extras will be involved!

Makes you wish magic was real...
30 December 2015
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies! Sure there are some really negative reviews here, but they are by some people who have lost their make believe...their imagination...their belief in enjoying a movie...and that's what it is...a holiday movie for those of us who refuse to grow up and still believe that Santa is real, even though we know he's not...or is he? Which is what our heroine Ginnie finds out.

What I like about it is that some Christmas' are not the best for a lot of people in the world, and bad things can happen. It reminds me a little of A Christmas Carol, The Little Drummer Boy, and The Bishop's Wife. It's too bad that some children were "scarred" but do we shelter our children from the realities of life? I love this movie! But that's me...you can judge for yourself.

A magical feel good Christmas movie....
30 December 2015
I love this film! I usually watch this about 3 or 4 times during the Christmas season as it's in my rotation with Home for the Holidays, It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, One Magic Christmas, If You Believe, Bell, Book, and Candle, A Diva's Christmas Carol, and The Family Stone. My roommates hate me during this time of year! I like to think there are people out there that believe in helping others unselfishly. I strive to be that kind of person.

I like seeing some of the other character actors such as Elsa Lanchester who is in Bell Book and Candle, and Sara Haden who I only knew from the Shirley Temple movie Poor Little Rich Girl. Oh and two of the children from It's a Wonderful Life...Zuzu and young Harry Bailey. Definitely watch this one! I think it's way better than the remake, although Denzel and Whitney are great!

Drop Dead Diva: Secret Lives (2013)
Season 5, Episode 5

Drop dead funny!
16 March 2014
I was bored and flipping through the stations and caught an episode of this show...the premise is just funny....a model thin woman is "returned" to a more curvy one who had just flat lined...lots of problems ensue. This episode had two great story lines and nice resolutions, and it was funny. The gay athlete story is pretty relevant today. Great to see Sandra Bernhard! The show kind of reminds me of Ally McBeal, with serious moments infused with some quirky and interesting moments. The writing is really smart as it takes the title character, Jane, and puts her into some tricky situations, with everything wrapping up nicely, which sometimes I find a little hard to believe.

But if you have nothing to do, look for it on Netflix and sit back and laugh!

1 disaster...this movie!
29 December 2013
I watched this movie in Portugal. My friend was sick, so we stayed in and came across this so called movie. It's one of those movies you can't not not watch and laugh through the whole thing. The great thing about seeing it in Europe is that there is limited commercials.

Mayan rings? Really? The father, Joseph, and the mom, Mary, have a daughter named Jacey??..JC....seriously??? and a son named Peter? There's even a "Jude" who betrays the holy family! Oh, and Kane...I was waiting for Abel to show up somewhere.

I feel bad for Magda Apanowicz...I felt at one point she was thinking, "Why didn't I get that part in the Hunger Games???" If it's on, just leave on the background while your cleaning your litter box.

Social Nightmare (2013 TV Movie)

Such a shame...it could've have been very good...
14 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I was just flipping through the stations and stumbled upon this movie. The title seemed interesting since it is a topic that applies to today's teens. There are a few moments where the actors actually care about their work. A better script and storyline would've made a difference. Luckily the young actors will still have a chance to continue.

It's a shame that Daryl Hannah has been reduced to this, and what happened to her face??? The end is purely laughable since you can clearly see she's not choking Emily. I only continued to watch it because I wanted to know who the person was that hacked into Cat's phone and computer. It was also sad to see who I believe was Tim Russ and Holly Robinson Peete (3/2/14 I was looking for something else and just realized Russ was listed and I mistook Rachel True for Peete) in supporting roles, but are not listed in the credits. I guess I wouldn't either if I was in this awful movie. Don't even bother watching if you see it. You'll waste two hours of your life!

This could have been a great movie
17 February 2013
The only thing cool about this movie is Jay Chou whose character alone could carry this movie. Without him, Seth Rogen's Green Hornet is a big loser. Every time he gets into trouble, Kato has to bail him out or save his life. Cameron Diaz should have just agreed to do another Charlie's Angels movie before agreeing to do this. I am glad I didn't pay money to see it in the theater like I originally wanted to when it came out. I would have been mad! I wanted to like this movie but I had to change the channel after 20 minutes, expecting something great to happen. Maybe I should see if I can get the 20 minutes of my life back. However, cool gadgets! I wouldn't mind having the coffee machine, but no amount of gadgets can save this movie...it's just too painful to watch. Now I'm gonna go try to find the original online! Oh, I gave it one extra star for Chou. Poor guy shouldn't have to suffer through this muck!

Devilishly Wicked FUN!
5 November 2012
Once in a while, this kind of movie comes along and all you have to do is sit back and watch it and enjoy it for what it is! Great seeing English speaking Asian actors! As much as I like seeing martial arts movies from Asia, it's refreshing to not have to read subtitles.

I find it amusing that some of the reviewers are trying to put some intellectual critique on it instead of just enjoying the blood, guts, and action. It's not gonna win an Academy or a Golden Globe, but it will win fans of this kind of genre. Sure, some parts could have been better, but for RZA's first film that he wrote and directed, it is so much fun to watch.

Is it wrong that I was the only one laughing when people were getting killed? LOL! If you're the kind of person who has to over analyze every movie you see, don't see it. But if you want to watch something really fun, it's a must!

Wonder Woman (2011 TV Movie)

Could be improved...
8 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I just watched the pilot. There are some strong points, but there should be some reference to her origin than just some ancient Greek artifacts in her office. I like the name of the company, Themyscira, but not the fact that the public knows who she is. I felt her costume had too much cleavage, I mean, Etta said it herself, "Wonder Woman is not vulgar." And if WW is suppose to be ageless, she would be a little more mature about things.

It was okay, but could've been better. David E. Kelly is mostly known for Boston Public and the dramedy Ally McBeal. This show needed someone who is familiar with the genre and WW. I didn't care for the visible jet, nor the lasso that really doesn't do much, I mean, why did she have to torture the guy for the info, couldn't the lasso make him tell the truth??? So yeah, there's problems and I can see why it didn't make it to the fall schedule. Maybe SyFy could pick it up and retool it.

I felt Elizabeth Hurley made a very hot villain! And the bullets/bracelets scene was pretty good. But I understand there may be a film in the works. Hopefully, they get it right. For now, just watch the full length animated movie. That one is pretty good!

Great film and I recognized quite a few places...
25 November 2011
This film explains "what do you do?" Matt has to come to terms with the issues that have been simmering below the surface, deal with them and reconnect with his daughters. I'm not a big Clooney fan, but he does a great job. It's not sappy sweet but honest. Robert Forster's character adds a nice punch (pun intended). It was cool to see Michael Ontkean, but he doesn't say anything which I thought was a little odd.

I did have a couple of problems with this film. Here is a family with a long history of living in Hawaii, but at the family gathering, I found it hard to believe that none of the cousins married any Hawaiians. Most were all pretty pasty and pale too. I also felt that as bohemian as Beau Bridges looked, why didn't he speak a little pidgin English. But it was great that Matt didn't come off as a greedy haole.

Overall, a great film to watch...worthy of a DVD buy!

Fun entertainment
27 November 2010
My niece wanted to see this since she's a Christina fan, and I guess I'm the Cher fan...so go figure. We've seen the story before. I liked this movie better than the remake of Fame. Sometimes Cher looked like a very good drag queen. Sometimes I felt like I was watching an MTV video. No one gets hit. No one really gets hurt. No one uses profanity much. The song and dance numbers are great to watch. I would've liked to have seen a more character driven story...something like Gypsy. It kinda ended pretty quick. Is it my imagination or does Stanley Tucci play a lot of gay characters? He looked sexy for an old guy! LOL! Oh, and Mr. Barbara Streisand had a small cameo...lol!

This was a fun movie to watch!

I love this movie! Director Rodriguez Rocks!
5 September 2010
I had read two reviews and those critics didn't like it. First off, it's a movie...and a fun movie at that! Violent and bloody at times, stereotypes abound...can't wait for the next two sequels. Michelle Rodgriguez is HOT! So is Lohan (and I hope she gets her act together). Trejo is the Man...Machete....I don't know any other Hispanic actor that could've pulled this role off. Okay, so now Jessica Alba wants to be Mexican? I forgive her for trying to be the white Sue Storm. DeNiro is great without going over the top. I thought "and introducing Don Johnson" was kinda weird, but then again, he needs something to revive his career.

Bella Mafia (1997 TV Movie)
10/10
When is this movie coming out on DVD????
12 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This has to be one of the coolest movies ever made for t.v. The plot, the plot twists! I wish there was a sequel so we find out how Sophia and the rest of the "bella mafia" kills the others responsible. Does Moyra, "He's so old," marry Vito Giancamo? What happens to Rosa and Michael? Kinski was the perfect actress to be cast for this film. As was Redgrave. I especially like her during the cooking scene in the Corolla house, "There's more..." as they drug Luka.

The script is smart and the dialog well written. I kinda felt like there was some relation to real world cosmic thing, when Luka comes back to his "mi mama." Teresa needed to be given the chance to show how business savvy she was. Moyra was the comic relief. I especially like the end when Sophia, Teresa, and Graziella do a final toast with one of the mafia guys (I can't remember his name). It is so funny how sweet they are. Love this movie!!! I wish it would come out on DVD soon.

Nothing else was on....
15 March 2009
Okay, I thought with Lee Majors, maybe this movie had some credibility. At least the guy is still working even though it's a c-movie. Yeah, the lead is not appealing in any respects, but hey, it's a c-movie. The effects are awful. Who knows, one of the actors might get a really good role in a major film, and we can all say, remember when...

I think an old rerun of the 6 million dollar man or the bionic woman would be better, or even an old Wonder Woman episode.

The physical therapy was laughable. The hospital looked like an office building. The faraway speed shots looked good, but the close-ups sucked. The funniest thing that I saw was when Python came in and shot the staff. One of the extras looked up at the blood after he fell down as if he wanted to see if he did it right. I liked the Python get-up and if I was the actor, I would have milked the part for all it was worth.

It was Sunday, and there was nothing on, so I had it on in the background while I was working. But I just had to leave a comment. I gave it an extra star for Majors.

This is an enjoyable film...
27 September 2008
After reading through many of the negative posts, I just had to comment. Every time I watch this film, it makes me laugh. It asks and answers the big question, "What if..." Is Neverland never suppose to progress? Most of the comments I read seemed to come from people who have lost their sense of imagination. I read some who said "I was a little kid when I saw it and loved it, but now I hate it." So in a sense, they "grew" up and lost that magic of make-believe. All the negativity reminds of the one scene Banning has with his daughter:

"Tootles made this for me (holds up flower), it smells real nice" she said.

"It's just paper," Banning replies.

This best describes all of you who have grown up and forgotten what it's like to be a kid, have fun, and pretend. In other words, you've become "pirates." Lucky you!

Say this three times: It's just a movie, it's just a movie, I'm not suppose to analyze it, I'm suppose to enjoy it.

I would have given it a 10, but there is some questionable violence in it.

AAhhhhh Childhood memories
3 May 2008
I caught this on TBS a while ago and recorded it. Every once in a while, I dust off the VHS and watch it on a lazy day. Sure, a lot of people will be turned off by this interpretation or different perspective. However, I enjoy watching it because it reminds me of simpler times (I hate being a grown-up), which is why I gave it a 10. I don't watch it for any aesthetic value just a small reminder of my childhood.

Sure, the plot could have been better, but I like how this WW used more brain than brawn. I thought the different kind of bracelets were representative of the 70s and all her WW outfits were either red, white, or blue, or a combination. Also that blonds seemed to be a theme because Trevor was also.

During the amazon sister fight, it looked like Cathy Lee almost got the top of her head whacked from Anitra's javelin. I love the simple explanation of the burro. It's funny how the simplest things can be overlooked, even by the smartest of people. The real only show of her strength is when she pulled herself up over the glass wall.

Yes, it was campy and cheesy, but what about the Lynda Carter version? Especially when she would spin around and "poof" a wet suit and fins, or "poof" motorcycle riding gear, or "poof" horseback riding pants. I never saw anything like that in the comic. Yes, I have the complete series...LOLLLLLLL!
