Nathan for You (2013–2017)
10/10
Manipulative and Hilarious
10 July 2014
Nathan has a very clever way of manipulating people, whether it's the people he's supposedly trying to help or the customers he is trying to lure. It's not malicious, just hilarious. His ideas are ridiculous and completely irrational but the funny thing is that they work. From creating viral videos that end up on the news to creating TV shows that girls want to be in to promote themselves... it all illuminates how easily people can be suckered into things especially in the world of business and TV. If you're not amazed by the cleverness of the concepts and you don't like deadpan humor then it may not be for you. But there's nothing really like it and I hope more people find out about it because it deserves a good long run.

Good message, weak delivery
28 April 2009
The overall message was good: The war in Iraq and war in general, has sociological impacts beyond the physical damage of war. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a severe and serious psychological problem and should not be ignored. War can really mess with someone's mind. But overall the film fails at really delivering the message in a simple, effective way. It feels contrived and the movie treats the audience like idiots, force-feeding the message down our throats. The actor's performances are alright. Charlize Theron does a good job and Tommy-Lee Jones does alright. The rest of the performances are forgettable, but not distractingly bad. The movie was either too melodramatic or too slow and didn't really have any moments that wowed. I give it a 6 because it was interesting enough to watch the whole way through and it did make an important point. I wouldn't really recommend it, but it's worth the watch if you have nothing else to watch.
