Zombedy Fun!
23 June 2013
Having seen most every zombie flick there is - from great to good to downright painful to witness, this rates amongst the more pleasant ways to spend time with the undead and those attempting to remain amongst the living.

Someone earlier wrote it is like "The Breakfast Club" meets zombie flick, and I cannot come up with a better analogy (partly because I have a raging tooth infection!) If you like zombies and comedy, you'll enjoy this flick. As for its budget, or lack of = didn't notice, didn't care - which makes it an even better film in m y big ol' book of "Seen It..."! Enjoy!!!!!

HATCHET III Rolls Forth Without Losing Momentum! - *SPOILERS ALERT*
13 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Just watched it - it was at least comparable to the first 2, so in my estimation, it succeeded in the entertainment level I hoped for and expected.

For what it is, the films remain comedic, over the top slash and gore with some originality in execution (ha ha Groannnnn) - and of course, the ever increasing number of people they throw at V.Crowley... And yes, the main character protagonist remains the same. Plus... movie timeline wise, this is night #3 consecutively. Oh, and the Asian actor is back, as someone else - a recurring side bit I rather enjoy.

Slasher fans, Hatcheteers - don't give this one a pass. Get your popcorn, gather your friends, usurp the big screen from whatever game is being played or sporting event being yelled at and have f-u-n! I do see number IV coming... I wonder how many military will end up on scene? Since they are almost to touch down already.... hehehe. Enjoy folks!

Day After Tomorrow... Wannabe
29 June 2011
We watch a lot of movies - and I exaggerate not here. I would comfortably say we average two to three new films per day. Yay for the internet! So, understandably, we get our fair share of bad movies.

The best thing I can say about this film is that I didn't shut it off midway. Perhaps I was curious at what point it would get worse, or maybe I was holding out for some glimmer of authenticity. Sadly, it only got worse as it progressed.

The special effects were pathetic. With all the tech available for free download, this could have been way better. Plausibility? Of course, with any "disaster" genre flick, you have to suspend reality at some point so as not to throw the plot vehicle off the road - but this went beyond suspension - it was more like some horrible whacked out nightmare complete with somewhat incoherent sequences and sudden strange happenings that make no sense at all. Nothing is ever explained, probably because most things can't be since they are just impossible.

You can see all the base elements of the story ripped right from "The Day After Tomorrow", but the fun stops there.

So - I won't pick on specific scenes or elements (ha ha) so as not to spoil the film (errr... yeah.), but lets just leave it at... I didn't shut it off.

If you want a good disaster film, I would definitely look elsewhere, because this disaster is not the "Giant Glacier", its the whole movie itself. So bad its not even funny. *sigh*

Fresh, Scary - Great Creatures!
7 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This is the movie I have been waiting for - something a bit off the beaten plot formula, with a fresh take on deadly creatures. For the gore-hounds, there are plenty of kills, and some unique ones to boot! From beginning to end, I had no idea what was coming next, and each corner the storyline took you around brought another layer of depth that made you want to know more, more, more. I think I'd actually really truly enjoy a sequel. Now, go see the film... or keep reading if you don't mind a few spoilers.

**SPOILER ALERT** I thought the entire concept of a whole separate ecosystem that developed obviously deep beneath the earth's crust fascinating. And that one concept was deftly woven throughout the film. The actors, while not exactly dishing out award winning performances on Oscar night, still lent good and genuine reactions when coming face to face with unworldly and possibly ungodly creatures - which I think about 9.9 times out of 10 ended quite poorly for the human...

The film does make you consider another concept entirely of an apocalyptic end to the earth, depends on your views on religion and prophecy. But, all in all, this film is extremely worth the watch. Bravo to writer, director, actors, make-up and effects artists - it was a wonderful blending of talents and vision that I will be seeing again and recommending to family and friends. I am now going to add glow-sticks to my Emergency Disaster End of the World Kit.
