The A-Team (2010)
best movie of 2010
22 August 2010
I love this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the opening scenes in which each of the team are introduced individually onwards I was amused and entertained by The A-Team.The main cast-and the chemistry between them- was 100% accurate.

All of the cast shone but special credit must go to Sharlto Copley who steals another movie as HM Murdoch. He is hilarious in every scene and gets most of the film's best lines.

Special mention also to uber-hottie Jessica Biel. If God had a girlfriend she'd look like Jessica.

Unlike tired old stuff like The Expendables or Salt The A-Team is really inventive and original effortlessly combining action and humour.

I'll be pre-ordering the DVD and praying for a sequel.

the unlovables

Remember in the Bruce Willis movie Cop-out when Bruce and his partner discuss a fictional movie to avoid talking or listening to Kevin Pollak?

Can you remember the title of the fictional movie? well that's what i wanted to call my review but somehow i did not think the IMDb would let me.

The Expendables is a slow (until the end), dull, badly acted bore that doesn't make sense. I know we don't expect much in this type of film but there has to be something to keep us interested.

I had expected there to be a lot more action than there was but what there was didn't impress me. Not because of the way it was staged which was good but because of the editing which meant I couldn't really see what was happening.

ugly women of crap
27 July 2010
It is impossible to describe how awful this movie is. I searched this out after reading the bad reviews thinking that anything that bad must be worth laughing it. It isn't. Watching this cheap, stupid, bigoted, incompetently made and badly acted film isn't even worth an amused derisive chuckle.

I know there are some people who love "boobs and blood" films but the blood is about as convincing as little children have as part of their fancy dress on halloween and the boobs are attached to overweight, pasty-white slappers who couldn't turn a television on.If this description still applies to you then try google images.

With the exception of Harmony Starr all the women in this movie are either obese, painfully thin, flat-chested, ugly as sin, talentless, buck-toothed or Scottish. In most cases more than one.

There might be people who find the same four letter word used a million times hilarious but I'm not one of them. Whoever wrote the so-called script should have his fingers broken to stop him writing anything else.

I didn't listen to warnings about how bad this was. Don't make my mistake. Zombie Women of Satan is not worth renting, buying or downloading for free.Avoid.

Bad Day (2008)
utter rubbish
1 June 2010
I don't know who gives David Ian Diaz the money to make these things but this is another one of his 'lots of people get shot but there's no plot' movies. Thankfully its better than Fallen Angels but its still awful.

Donna Air is unconvincing as a tough cookie, some of the supporting cast are wooden and it doesn't make much sense. this is definitely not worth buying, only worth renting if you're desperate. Thankfully I didn't pay to see it.

There are lots of glowing reviews on here presumably by people connected to the movie and the negative reviews have been systematically deleted..don't be tricked into thinking this is good. You'll have a bad day if you spend time or money on this.

a turn too far
17 April 2010
I saw this ages ago at the Frightfest Halloween event in London.

It is a pretty bad film with not much to praise..which is a shame as i liked wrong turn 1 and 2.

The CGI effects near the beginning are embarrassingly bad..i've seen better effects on youtube videos. None of the cast are up to scratch in their various roles.

The action scenes are amateur and there doesn't seem to be much point to the film. This was made super cheaply as a cash cow...it ddeserves to fail. Worryingly Frightffest showed an even worse film called Umbrage which wasn't even finished!!

Arabesque (1966)
diverting

while this film is often compared unfavourably to charade, with good reason, it is an entertaining film.

Charade is almost perfect and it would be difficult for any other movie to match its iconic status.Gregory Peck and Sophia Loren cannot compare to Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn but they are solid stars in their own right..Loren is not the world's best actress but she is exquisite to look at. Peck is aging but still a major star and there is an old pro's grace about him.

OK so arabesque is not charade but its a beautifully shot piece of entertainment with a good central performance from Gregory Peck and its better than 90% of the rest of the movies out there.

Warning: Spoilers
I've never been a fan of Nicholas Cage at the best of times, but he is truly awful here in this pointless US (that's United States, not useless..although come to think of it...)remake of a much better Hong Kong movie.

Here he plays a weary, jaded hit-man who falls in love with a young oriental girl who apparently has a false hair fetish. Cage rapidly descends from unconvincing unlikable contract killer to unconvincing lovestruck unlikable sap.

There is a great deal of schmaltz in the movie and the ending is so sickly sweet and saccharine-y it could induce diabetes. Avoid this ...
