Two men enter a bar and kill a policeman ,the woman who runs the joint identifies 2 small time crooks as the killers and on the sole testimony of this woman of ill repute they get life even though the judge didnt agree with the verdict of the jury and supposedly was going to ask for a retrial. There are more holes in this story than swiss cheese. James Stewart plays a reporter who 11 years later is called to do the job that supposedly a totaly incompetent lawyer never did. The funniest thing is that the innocent victims of this affair are 2 but the reporter Stewart plays only bothers to help one of them and the movie forgets all about the other guy.

The Problem here is the plot. Supopsedly theres a bunch of communist agents who want to steal government secrets. The police and the FBI are aware of this and in the beginning of the movie they are following a woman who is known to belong or be associated with this group of foreign agents. THis woman is supposedly completely unaware that her boyfriend is one of the communist agents and so she has noreason whatsoever to be careful with who she associates with and who she meets. Here starts the main problem. The FBI is shown to follow this woman but is not shown to follow her boyfriend who is the main suspect. This guy is shown to have meetings with other agents but the police and the FBI are nowhere to be seen when these meetings take place even though they know the guy is a spy. For some reason the entire story revolves around apickpocket that accidentaly gets involved in this situation. The guy steals afilm and hides it in a shack where he lives but when the police search his shack fail to find it which is completely ridiculous. Widmark who had specialized playing losers is miscast in this movie and the romance with jean Peters doesnt ring true for a second.

This is easily along with the Bruce Lee movies my top martial arts movies. This movie is simply a masterpiece,. All the main characters are flawlesly acted . Jing Bai as the main character called wing chun is easily worth of an academy award in this movie. Her character grows from a happy go lucky girl to a more mature person who learns about love and justice in the world. It is an incredible performance which culminates in the most dramatic ten minutes you will ever see.

Shaoqun Yu is also excellent as the man chosen by her parents she should marry,he goes from a perplexed and dissapointed suitor to perfect match.

Kara Wai who plays Ng Mui.is also academy award worthy ,a fantastic performance full of wisdom and warmth.

Cllin Chou makes a chilling bad guy in an also great performance.

But generally,all the main and supporting actors do a fine job,theres noone lacking in this movie.

The story revolves around the popular story about the origins of the wing Chun style and develops in a more dramatic adventure.

The IMDB rating is simply ridiculous. This a classic .If you like Kung Fu movies theres no way you can have missed this one.

This story is about an aging movie star and her daughter who fall for the same a young man. Hedy Lamarr was 44 at the time and still looked good,George Nader is badly miscast as the young man ,he was a mature looking 37 and is supposed to be something like 25. His character is basicaly a bum,he doesnt work and even though he is supposedly a struggling actor spends his days mostly lying on his girlfriends couch. However he continiously protests to his moviestar girlfriend that he doesnt want to be thought as a kept man and that it bothers him what people will think of him. One would think that a man like that would have looked for some sort of work before protesting.,Jane Powell is supposedly a teenager but was 29 at the time and looks it. The age thing is of great importance in ths movie because the whole story is about which one of the two women it will make some sense for the man to choose. The way this movie is cast Nader makes a fine couple with Lamarr and looks completely ridiculous with the lively spirited little girl Powell plays.

The title says it all ,pretty much. Lousy attempt at romantic comedy with actor Justin Bartha absolutely miscast and boring beyond belief.

Whoever thought this guy could romance Catherine zeta-Jones has no business making movies. The script doesnt help at all,Zeta-Jones is a divorced woman who tries dating only to go out with potential beau John Schneider who stops in the middle of the street while walking with his date, to go to a public toilet but keeps talking to his date from inside the toilet. THis is the kind of stuff one has to go through to watch this movie. There isnt much else to say about this lousy movie,its unfortunate Zeta-Jones couldnt find a bteter script and a better leading man.

This was supposed to be about two sisters ,one who is a conservative mother of three and one who is a wacky but lovable ex-Hollywood actress. The show's characters are mostly cartoonish but where they failed is even in that concept the Kellly Rippa is just a totaly selfish ,totaly unlikable character ,who even though is supposed to have some redeeming qualities she has none,she is just one insuferable bitch who doesnt really care about anyone but herself. She is supposed to care about her sister,but time after time is shown to not really care at all,she just uses her sister and manipulates everything to suit herself. This is too much to be funny,after a few episodes one has had enough of the Kelly Rippa character and you just wish you never see her again.

This is a remake of "accent on youth". In the original Sylvia Sidney falls for Herbert Marshall. Sidney was a tremendous actress who makes it perfectly believable,this one stars Caroll Baker a very limited actress who cant fill the shoes of this role. To make things worse they changed the ending and make it a pointless story about an older man who believes he is too old to accept the affections of his young secretary. Nobody wants to see Clark Gable say and act like he is too old. In fact his age didnt make any difference in his next movie where he romances Sophia Loren. I can understand why people hated this flick.

I wonder when people will have enough about movies glorifying fascist violence and the sickness of society. Its more than obvious Sergio Leone admires gangsters and ths was his loving tribute to them. WE follow abunch of kids growing up to be gangsters. They are disgusting when they are kids burning a poor mans newstand because he didnt pay a cut to the gangsters and follow them to bigger things when they are older. In all this story we are supposed to feel for these hoodlums and care about their friendship. Well i didnt care at all,from the first reel i just wanted them to rot in jail and never hear of them again. Just my two cents about these stories of the so called crime genre. Only in america crime is condidered to be just another business and movies about it are considered masterpieces. Just like the Godfather and so on. Its sad people really enjoy in a sick way to watch the lives of murderers. Society will be a lot better when this type of movie will not exist anymore.

I only saw this movie once ,i was at the premiere in New York city and saw that print. Its been 40years but i still remember it. There was a special excitement in the cinema,people were anxious to watch what they expected to be something special,because the buzz over Ciminos genius was enormous at the time. The opening of the movie is pretty grandiose,and the crowd we were feeling we were in for atreat. Then John Hurt has to deliver a speech that goes on and on and on and its the first scene that people felt something is wrong here. When the movie was over i remember very well .people were perplexed,it wasnt that the movie was bad,it had told an impressive story with a lot of drama ,but first thing it wasnt the great masterpiece thing everybody was expecting and second it wasnt a fun or really satisfying movie. So i think most felt like i did,the crowd was silent,it wasnt that it was bad but it wasnt really good either. The one thing that bothered me personaly ,was the casting of Isabelle Huppert,a good actress but i never considered her a movie star and this movie needs a female movie star to balance the men. On the positive side,this movie is photographed really beautifuly and visually its a really goodlooking movie. The strory about the Johnson County wars is Ciminos pointing accusing finger at america,and this annoyed a lot of people. Also a lot of people were envious of Cimino at the time and were praying fo him to fail. By all accounts the movie is nowhere as bad as critics made it to be,They were mostly criticizingg Cimino not the movie.

Lousy idea of recreating and twisting the Disney tale,badly directed and edited,its too bad a great actress like Emma Stone needs to make these movies in todays completely untalented Hollywood money machine,targeting people who dont know any better,most kids have no idea what a good movie is because they havent watched any.

This is really bad,direction,acting ,plot everything is B grade and Harvey and Ann Margret must have joined this probably as a vacation to cosmopolitan pre civil war Beirut. This was shot on location in Beirut ,and its the only interesting thing about it,actually one feels sad watching this movie that this city called at the time Paris of the East ended up in ruins. The movie is about a bunch of crooks who deal with casinos and mostly takes place in casino settings. Harvey looks rather miserable in this movie and Ann Margret has a small part ,like she just joined this for a quick buck.

The winner of the Arhens 1896 first modern Olympics was a Greek water carrier called Spyridon Louis,and this movie is a heavily fictionalized version of his story. They used Jayne Mansfield to sell the movie and she plays some sipposedly famous Greek actress of the time who has an affair with a Greek athlete. Theres a scene where she is undressing but her part is not very lengthy. What is interesting about this is they shot it on location in Greece and they used the actual stadium where the real games took place. There is a lot of footage of a reenactment of the 1896 games shot in the stadium filled with local crowd which is interesting. The rest is all about, what was to become the american team who actually won most of the gold medals in athletics which were the main event in the main stadium. The americans went there actually representing themselves since nobody in the US at the time thought these games would amount to anything. The IOC has since registered the athletes as representing the USA. One last thng,i wish FOX would release this either on DVD or Bluray in its Cinemascope frame,the actual DVD they are selling is cropped in 4/3 old TV format and missing most of hte original framing which makes it terrible especially in the wide angle scenes of the Olympic stadium.

At this time the rating is 7.1 for this movie,which is simply ridiculous. This is a comedy in the Disney style but not anything like the good ones ,i cant think of any age target group for this except 5-6 yera olds that maybe will find this funny but im not sure at that either. Anybody else who will try this thinking its funny in any adult sense of humour will probably be upset for wasting their time like i did. A bunch of pro comedians acting like overgrown kids in what is a realy dumb script with boring jokes. This deserves a 3 and im being generous.

This is well directed and with decent script. Most actors in it are ok in their parts ,even Jayne Mansfield tries to rise to the occasion and act as naturaly as she could. The guy who mostly ruins the movie is Rick Jason of Combat fame,even though he was an exceptionaly goodlooking man was not a very good actor and thats why he never rose to serious leading man. In this movie two women are drooling over him ,one being the super sexy Joan Collins. The guy just could not make himself likable. He is the main character in this movie and this would be star making material for the actor but he just couldnt do it. Somehow he drags the movie down with him,even though the movie is suspenseful and the other actors make it interesting Jason just doesnt cut it and you are left with a lukewarm impession of this story.

Conrad looks great for his age at that tine in this movie and its almost believable that a guy inhis early fifties could play with kids. Well if pro quarterbacks in this day and age can play the NFL in their fourties ,its not at all unbelievable that a talented 50 year old guy in great shape could play college football. Anyway if you are middle aged this is the movie that will make you feel a lot better .Conrad is likable and the story doesnt turn into too serious ,is always with tongue slightly in cheek. I enjoyed this and recommend it to anyone interested in this sort of movie.

I saw this when i was a kid and i couldnrt imagine any woman in the world sexier than Raquel Welch. She did look incredible in those days and thats the whole thing about this movie. The drama about a single mother trying to work as a pro skater and bringing up two kids is not believable for a second. The character Raquel plays wouldnt have two kids.

The other problem is there are many dangerous stunts in this movie and its unfortuanately more than obvious the stunt double for Raquel is a guy with a wig which looks really bad..They didnt have many stunt women in those days.

This movie was the highest grossing movie of 1947. And yet didnt do much for its star. This was a big expensive film,the studio gambled on this one,Darnell was finally asked to carry a big movie which should have skyrocketed her career. But her career after this one was more mediocre parts in mediocre movies. The reason i believe is because even though this movie made money ,the leading character is so unlikable,that audiences didnt have much cause to be fond of Linda Darnell. Usually,actors become very popular from some popular role. Noone could have been popular portraying this woman who tried to manipulate everyone from peasants to the KIng. It is based on bestselling book,but best sellers dont always make popular movies. Darnell didnt get lucky with this one,if only her big movie was to be portraying someone likable she could have had a different career. But basicaly thats the main problem of this movie. Other than that the production values are good but the story of this 17th century woman who wants to get to the top while obessing for a man who cares very little for her, leaves a lot to be desired.

After serving loyally 20th century-fox as support to its main leading men for some years ,and mainly Tyrone Power,Linda was given to play this first bad girl role,after having played many nice girls. She did an exceptional job with it,her girl part who uses her beauty as a weapon to get what she wants, is alarmingly realistic mainly because she looks the part,she is breathtakingly beautiful and you feel sorry for anyone who would fall in her path. Linda followed this with several other bad girls,and turned her career to a new direction. As a movie its an ok drama,i have to object they used Horton who does his usual comedic routine which doesnt really fit with the rest of the movie all other characters are strictly dramatic. Other than that the center of the movie is Darnells character,and the star pretty much shines here.

Darnell and Hunter are stranded on a deserted island where they spend most of the time arguing.. The characters are so incompatible that any believable romance is out of the question. You must be satisfied just watching the stars to watch this. The good thing is Darnell on the beach looks great in technicolor .The bad thing is the Tab Hunter role is badly written and badly acted he sounds more like a brat on vacation than a marines corporal who has to deal with an emergency situation. The character is pretty annoying ,spends most of the time arguing with the Darnell character who is a female officer,like he was arguing with his older sister. It was Hunters first starring role,they took a chance having him star next to an established star like Darnell,the results are mixed,he looks all-american boyish but the choice to have him star with a mature actress fails miserably..The movie actually spends more time showcasing Hunters half naked physique than it bothers with Darnell. So,basicaly this movie is for hardcore Tab HUnter fans,even more than Darnell fans.

Why make a supposedly biographical movie about a real person when you intend to make up a completely fictional story about their life?

Jean Harlow if anything was an early mature woman,married very early in life,had numerous affairs with men and was a very well experienced when she arrived in Hollywood. In this movie,they decided to make up an absurd story about a supposedly virginal little girl who arrives in tinseltown only to shockingly discover it is full of wolves. Ridiculous bio,but somewhat entrtaining if one forgets its about a real pesron and watches it like a completely fictional story. Carroll Baker is pretty in it,the photography is pretty nice and it is somewhat interesting as a movie about moviemaking in tinseltown.

If there was ever a movie that should have been in color is this one.I dont know who was the genius who decided to shoot this in B&W ,every scene cries out for color.This was a major movie with Tyrone Power so there can t be any budget excuse.Gene Tierney is beyond ravishing in this,i hope they colorize this and that they do a good job.All actors have been in color movies so they know their colors. Other than that its a great fun movie.

Ella was one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood,but in most of this movie she wears "ugly duckling" makeup.It doesnt matter her inner winning personality shines through,and one even wonders why male characters in the movie are so mean to her,she is still so charismatic with fake face and all.Ella does a great job portraying what some women have to go through life when they are called "ugly".She is really heartbreaking because she plays a character who is an intelligent and beautiful person judged only on looks.I loved the movie and Ella is so great in anything she was in.
