Army of the Dead (2021)
Probably in the army of the worst movies ever
I decided to watch this movie after having seen "Army of Thieves", which is good entertainment and fun. To tell the truth, I was very lucky to have watched the prequel before this crap, because if I had gone the normal way and watched this one first, I probably wouldn't even try the other one.
"Army of the Dead" is probably one of the worst movies I've ever watched, and I've watched a few thousand in my 50 years. You can choose the worst in the movie: acting, direction, story, script, effects... whatever you choose is a good option, it's all a total crap, the only thing that saves a little is the soundtrack .
If you haven't watched "Army of Thieves" just because this first movie is all this crap, give it a chance, the prequel is on a much more acceptable level even without being any masterpiece.
"Army of the Dead" - 0.5 out of 10 (half a point for the soundtrack).
"Army of Thieves" - 6.5 out of 10.
Army of Thieves (2021)
Funny
I didn't watch "Army of the Dead", which a lot of people say bad about the movie, and maybe that was good for me, that I started watching this one without having any knowledge of the other and it brought me fun.
The movie starts very well, the first 20 or 30 minutes are very good, then it drops a little in quality, mainly because some supporting actors are a little forced, like those who play Brad Cage and Korina, but the main couple of actors is very well and carries the film on his back, compensating a little for the forced and more amateur work of the supporting actors.
One thing I didn't really like was that the action scenes that take over the screen in some parts of the film aren't very well done. But even with these slips and drop in performance, the movie is still fun and good entertainment. And more: the cinematographic part that involves the scenes with the safes is very beautiful, a great work of art direction and production.
A film that gets a score between 6 and 7, a good pastime, with very fun moments.
Sotto il sole di Riccione (2020)
Are there only white people in Italy?
It's okay that this movie is completely ridiculous and idiotic, with actors without any quality, a script that borders on stupidity, and a steakhouse musician soundtrack, ok, there is (bad) taste for everything. What can't be accepted is that such crap doesn't have at least the slightest concern in a cast that has about 8 to 10 main actors, about 10 to 20 supporting actors and about 1000 extras (counting the audience at the show, on the beach and in the nightclub), not having only one single person who is not white. Not a single one. I took the trouble to pause the scenes and do a search like "Where's Wally?" in the crowd at the final show and I didn't even find it.
Thousands of people in more than 1 hour of projection and a parade of strictly 100 percent white people.

Prey (2022)
Some good things, but lacked a quality story
I'm laughing here at some reviews that are criticizing the film because of the lies and absurdities that completely escape reality, but the question I ask is: who watches a "Predator" movie expects to find some realism? It's very naive. The important in movies like this is to have a well thought out story, a good script to tell it, and good cast, direction, production, soundtrack and effects. Realism doesn't matter.
The movie is relatively fun and well done, it's not the best CGI in the world, but it's acceptable, and the actors and direction are decent, and the soundtrack is very good. The biggest problem I saw was the story, completely meaningless in terms of the Predator's presence there in that region. What is the use for his race or people? What's the need for him to spend weapons with cutting-edge technologies to kill a few innocent and defenseless wolves, snakes and bears? It lacked a solid reason and creativity from the writers to explain the function of that monster there in that place and at that time. In fact, the place and time were great ideas, but it lacked a reason and a story, because it was completely futile what it showed.
The film willingly earns a 6 for spending time with good direction, production and performances, but it could have been a lot better if it didn't have such a weak story.

The Man in the High Castle (2015)
Season 4 is a rubbish
I don't know, I think maybe some actors didn't renew their contracts for the fourth season and the producers had to invent a new story with new actors, this can be the only explanation in my mind for the total lack of common sense that the last season presented.
Let's see, what happened with a lot of the trademarks of the show? Ed McCarthy and boyfriend, Jewish old couple and entire Jewish community, German filmmaker woman and her American journalist girlfriend, Joe Blake, the Neutral Zone bar, the Resistance... all these trademarks of the series didn't appear in any episode of the fourth season, as if they never existed, even though they made up all of the plot of three entire seasons, they were simply erased from history. In parallel, new characters were created through BCR, as if they needed a solution to fill the season. This BCR has never been mentioned at any point in any previous season, and out of nowhere it appears in Season 4 as if it were the biggest revolutionary movement to have existed for decades. Surreal.
To make matters worse, BCR has its greatest leader killed and even so half a dozen survivors members manage to come up with a "fantastic" plan that in two days blows up everything from the Japanese and still manages to kick out them from the US, which the germans on the East side , much more powerful, strategists and numerous than BCR, could not do... And more: the Japanese population that already had an organized life there with family, work, schools, etc, decided to leave without complaining...
Plus: we spent 3 entire seasons watching a "premonition" of Juliana Crain being shot by Joe Blake inside the Poconos tunnels, and in season 4 this real scene just didn't appear, as if it had nothing to do with the story anymore, which in fact once again leads me to believe that they didn't renew the actors' contracts and Joe Blake couldn't work on the scene. Then a completely meaningless and bizarre ending was invented, with all those people going through the portal, looking like an episode of "The Twilight Zone".
Rating:
.Season 1: 8/10 rating.
.Season 2: 7/10 rating.
.Season 3: 6/10 rating.
.Season 4: the complete rubbish I said up there - 0/10 rating.
Taking the average for the entire show: 5.2/10 rating.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Rating 4 because I'm in a good mood
Well, I haven't read the books, so at least in this regard I wasn't as disappointed as many who have written reviews here. Even so, this show is weak.
There is a very serious problem, which is the cast. Apart from Rosamund Pike, not a single one can be saved, it's one worse than the other, a festival of amateurism in the art of acting. And when so many weak actors take care of the projection, there's no way the result will be good.
It's a shame, because the setting is very beautiful, as is the quality of the 4k image, but there's no way a show can get rid of the catastrophe with these actors. And, to make matters worse, the soundtrack plays at very low volume whenever called, as well as the story and characters have no development, always very superficial and fast.
It would be a show to earn a rating of 1 out of 10, but as the setting is very beautiful, and Rosamund Pike does her job with dignity, I give it a 4.

The Last Duel (2021)
A good movie, but not excellent.
Great quality production, excellent direction and great actors, with the exception of Ben Affleck. I can't understand what people see in his work, I find him very weak, always stereotyped, making the same faces, using a modern tone of voice and language, completely out of touch with the reality of that time. He's a bad actor.
Regarding the movie itself, the script, it's good for people to know that it's not an action or adventure movie, it's a drama, heavy, dragged and long, just having a little adrenaline and movement in the final duel. The fact that the film is divided into three acts, which tell the same story from three different angles (in this case, the points of view of the three main characters), makes the film a bit dull, tiring, because we keep rewatching the same drama from slowly three times. Anyway, the fact that it is a story with around 80% of true facts is decisive to make the film important, portraying the difference in the treatment of male and female in a sexist and chauvinist society.
A very cool thing about the film is the setting, as well as the photography and the soundtrack, cinematographically it is a neat production, very beautiful.

Eternals (2021)
Eternal must be your patience to endure this movie until the end.
I haven't watched a movie as bad as this in a long time, really. Okay, it has amazing CGI and special effects, but even that doesn't save this movie from complete tragedy. Bad direction, bad work by the actors (some scenes get to be comical because they are so bad), bad soundtrack, stupid dialogues and horrible script. All this festival of crap in a movie with almost 3 hours long, we need to be more powerful than the Eternals to face all this endless suffering.
For me, I would have stopped watching it with 20 minutes, but my 8-year-old son comes home here a few times, and he really wanted to see the movie, I made the sacrifice of holding on until the end.
Who hasn't seen it yet and wants to take a chance, well, I recommend being prepared for the worst.

Back to the Outback (2021)
Don't fall into this evil trap
Despite the cuteness of the characters, this film presents ideas that are not good for children. Since when are lethal animals like crocodiles, scorpions, snakes and poisonous spiders cute and harmless? What's more, the risk that can lead a child who watches such a movie to get close to one of these animals?
Honestly, this movie is very strange.

The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)
Be careful, this movie sends a somewhat immoral message
I'm just going to review what I saw in the movie, as I haven't read the book, I don't know if it has similar content.
Was it just me or does this movie tell the story about a naked adult man visiting a 6-year-old girl to make her fall in love with him? Just this girl never had the opportunity to grow up normally, meet guys her age, because since the age of 6 she was stuck in a love relationship with a naked guy who was old enough to be her father?
This film looks like an apology for pedophilia, at least that was the impression that clearly gave me.
As I said above, I haven't read the book, I don't know if the story is the same or if the film sends a different message, but the film is a very dangerous film in its concept.

The Spectacular Now (2013)
A less elaborated kind of Good Will Hunting movie
This movie reminded me a lot of "Good Will Hunting". I won't say it's bad or plagiarism, but it has many similarities. Still it's a good movie, well structured, with good acting performances, good direction and a script with few flaws. Few, however existing.
Anyway, it deserves some attention.

The Lake House (2006)
Well, I really liked Sandra Bullock here
Well, I'm not a big fan, expert or connoisseur of rom-coms or romantic drama fantasies, but there are some that I like a lot. "The Lake House" is one of the movies on that list. Trying to remember a few more here in my head I could also list some rom-coms or romantic drama fantasies (in alphabetical order): "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Good Will Hunting", "Groundhog Day", "Il mostro", "It's Kind of a Funny Story ", "Johnny Stecchino", "Just Like Heaven", "Little Manhattan", "Love Actually", "Midnight in Paris", "Moonrise Kingdom", "Reckless", "Something Wild", "Somewhere in Time", "The Girl Next Door", "The Lobster" and "Trust" (this 1990 Hal Hartley movie is the best of all for me). Obviously there are more movies on that list, but I can't remember them in my head right now, so don't be offended if one you like didn't show up there.
This movie showed me that Sandra Bullock is an excellent actress, the same cannot be said for Keanu Reeves, who is very artificial. But even with that problem, it's a great movie. Great story, great direction, great atmosphere, great soundtrack and impeccable acting from Sandra Bullock. It's funny that even though I consider her an excellent actress, 99% of the movies she's made suck, they're terrible. In fact, as far as I can remember, only "The Lake House" and "Gravity" are good.
Well, if you like fantasy and romance movies, with a well thought-out time paradox, "The Lake House" is waiting for you.
Rating 7/10.
Gravity (2013)
Fantastic
I really love this movie.
I read many reviews here questioning that several things in the movie are implausible, hurt science, etc., etc. I would just like to know which sci-fi movie is totally believable... kkkk none. The name itself says, it is a fiction, if it were reality it would be a documentary.
"Matrix", "2001", "Interstellar", "Prometheus", "Blade Runner", "Alien", "The Terminator", "Star Wars", "Dune", "Arrival", "Contact", etc. They are all implausible and hurt science. And? All wonderful.
So this argument from implausibility is the stupidest I know. Didn't like the movie? Okay, but don't use this argument, it's a fiction, not a documentary.
Finally, I would like to say that this was one of the few movies in my life that I enjoyed with Sandra Bullock. I really think her filmography is terrible, as I remember only this "Gravity" and "The Lake House" are saved. And the funny thing is that besides thinking she's very beautiful, I think she's an excellent actress, therefore, a waste of talent in so many bad movies.
By the way, excellent soundtrack.
10/10 rating.
Midnight Mass (2021)
If you are a Christian or at least like God in some way, avoid this series
At the beginning it seemed that the series would be interesting, the first episode following a line that was reminding me of the horror movies of the 70s, with a very slow, mysterious and elaborate narrative, a mixture of "The Wicker Man" and "Nosferatu" . However, as I watched episodes 2 and 3, the projection went from slow to boring, with endless dialogues without any enriching content.
Well, I would even go over that and force myself to keep watching, but then the bigger problem arose: until half of the third episode the religious content was not all bad, as there seemed to be a discernment between good and evil and respect for people's belief , but the revelation at the end of the third episode ruined it all.
I even understand showing religions as products that have already done a lot of harm to humanity, but then to want to attack not only religions, but especially the image of God itself, there is a big difference, the proposal is extremely aggressive with God and Christians, I really didn't like it.
Reckless (1984)
Kids in America
Well, come on, ok, this is a very dated movie, but for anyone who saw it at the time it was released in the cinema, it was wonderful.
Nowadays, different types of people are usually accepted in society, but back then there was a lot of prejudice about anything, and a rebellious character in the antihero model fit very well in a good movie. And that's what we get in "Reckless," a romantic anti-comedy, with a screwed-up antihero winning the heart of college's most popular preppy, a pretty young Daryl Hannah.
My unforgettable scene in this movie, which must also be the unforgettable scene for many, is when they break into college at night and crash to the tune of Kim Wilde's "Kids in America". To this day I love this song.
8/10.
Ascenseur pour l'échafaud (1958)
Jeanne Moreau, Miles Davis and Paris
Dude, this movie is awesome.
An incredible story, an astounding performance by Jeanne Moreau and a devastating soundtrack by Miles Davis, one of the top 5 soundtracks in the history of cinema in my opinion.
All of this blended into a tense criminal thriller set against the backdrop of incredible Paris scenes.
Fantastic movie. 9/10.
Janghwa, Hongryeon (2003)
Brilliant
This movie is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
The story is amazing, the script is masterful, the soundtrack is beautiful, the setting and details are wonderful, the direction is impeccable and the performance of the actors is superb, especially the two child actresses.
It's basically a psychological horror drama, the amount of really supernatural elements is minimal, and the story is a puzzle you'll have to unravel, and it's not very easy. I had to watch the movie twice to capture everything that happened and understand the whole plot.
It's a unique cinematic experience, a test of the viewer's intelligence and acumen, while being a film of very beautiful little details. 10/10.
After Hours (1985)
Underrated gem
One of the most unknown films in Martin Scorsese's filmography, but not the weakest for that. On the contrary, it's insanely great.
I think it was the first movie to portray the situation of a lost person in a strange neighborhood, with no money, at a time when there were no cell phones and internet.
An extremely tense and harrowing comedy, with great performances by Griffin Dunne and Rosanna Arquette, as well as incredible supporting cast work with Verna Bloom, Linda Fiorentino, the fantastic Teri Garr and others.
If you're a Scorsese fan and haven't seen this movie yet, you don't know what you're missing, and even you who aren't a fan shouldn't miss it, quite unlike the director's mafia and thriller movies, it's a dark comedy that will keep you on the edge of your seat. 10/10.
Dolores Claiborne (1995)
Spectacular
Spectacular film in every way: superb performances by Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Leigh, powerful soundtrack by Danny Elfman and flawless script and story by Stephen King.
I put this movie in that short list of movies that can be included in both the drama and thriller categories, like "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?", "Suna no Onna", "Witness for the Prosecution" and a few others. It's a drama so hard, intense and well done that it makes you stay on the edge of your seat.
Highly recommended. 9/10.
Suna no onna (1964)
Anxious
This is perhaps one of the most terrifying movies of all time. An incredible claustrophobic drama, so intense and dramatic, that it can easily be included in the drama category but in the suspense thriller and psychological horror movies categories too.
The actors' performance and the movie setting are perfect, it's so harsh and realistic that it's hard to watch this movie twice, even though it's a 5 star movie. 10/10.
Something Wild (1986)
Brilliant and underrated
Brilliant and underrated movie.
Despite being an old movie, from 1986, it is not dated (except for the technological artifacts of the time, such as public telephones, manual credit card machines, etc.), it can be easily watched nowadays and it still works.
Melanie Griffith, Jeff Daniels and Ray Liotta are astounding in their roles, with superb direction from the genius Jonathan Demme, best known for the classics "The Silence of the Lambs", "Philadelphia", " Married to the Mob" and "Stop Making Sense ".
The most amazing thing is that this underrated gem manages to bring together comedy, romance, road movie, violent suspense thriller and con movie in 2 hours of projection, doing well in all styles, you'll laugh, get emotional and feel scared, everything in a single movie.
Totally recommended, unless you're very conservative and don't like movies where the main characters aren't politically correct to pay their bills. 9/10, maybe a 10/10.
Trust (1990)
I really love this movie
Well, I need to say something about this movie simply because it's one of the 5 best movies I've watched in my life. A simple and inexpensive independent production, filmed in very little time, without any resources, however, flawless. A precursor of indie movies, with perfect actors, precise dialogues, fine humor, love and sadness describing life and society as they are. I really watched this movie more than fifteen times.
And a soundtrack, which I believe is by Phillip Reed and Ned Rifle, as simple and beautiful as the movie.
10/10 without discussion.
Fargo (2014)
Excellent.
Well, I'm Brazilian and my English is not the best, so I apologize for any mistakes.
I start by saying that one thing I don't really understand is why people lower the rating given to a show just because the last season is weaker, even more being seasons with practically independent stories, where you can abandon the last season if you don't like it, because it will not interfere with the others. My rating here is 9/10 because Fargo brings so many sensational things in the first three seasons that it does not deserve a downgrade due to the fourth season. Especially because the fourth season, despite being full of problems, has some wonderful moments.
Fargo is simply the best TV series I have ever seen in my life. The first two seasons are brutal criminal stories permeated with black humor and coincidences typical of a comedy of errors, but full of philosophical, religious, cultural, political, social, economic and historical references. The third season still follows the same line, but with a little less black humor and comedy, and investing once and for all in the moral, philosophical, religious and even spiritual aspects. In these three seasons we can see the conflict between good and evil, the evil being represented by figures with clear references in mephistoles.
In my opinion, the fourth season lost a lot of the essence of the series, in addition to having a confusing and dragged script, but even so it presented moments of historical and cultural references of great quality, the highlight being episode 9, a masterpiece, all done on top of "The Wizard of Oz", "Alice in Wonderland" and other children's stories with the theme of a lost child somewhere far from home.
I highly recommend this series and I suggest you watch it trying to capture all the details, like the real natural phenomenon of fish rain, which is shown in the first season, or the Val Johnson incident with flying saucer and the beginning of Ronald Reagan's Alzheimer's in season two, as well as all biblical and religious references, already beginning with the evil speaking of the Garden of Eden in the first season. Oh, don't forget to also look in the independent stories of each season that you are watching for references to previous seasons. Ex: the second season showed you the origin of Mr. Tripoli, Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers from the first season, did you notice?
Finally, I would like to praise the excellent work of production, direction and setting of each season, as well as the acting: Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Kirsten Dunst, Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Daniel Thewlis are spectacular.
Season 1 - rate 9/10 - Highest point: episode 6.
Season 2 - rate 9.5/10 - Highest point: episode 9.
Season 3 - rate 8.5/10 - Highest point: episode 9.
Season 4 - rate 5.5/10 - Highest point: episode 9 (one of the best in the entire series).
The Rain: Stay Inside (2018)
It can't be serious.
This episode may not want to be taken seriously, I only managed to watch 6 minutes. Since the initial scene, at school, everything was extremely forced, but the culmination was the accident on the road and right there in the forest was located the bunker that the father knew. Impossible to move forward, there is no way to take it seriously. 1/10.
Giri/Haji (2019)
A booger cake covered with a beautiful chocolate icing
Excellent production, great actors, very well built characters, great soundtrack and a great idea for a TV series.
And yet, with so many good things, this series can be very bad. The script is amateur level, the plot of the series is very weak, poorly made and completely unlikely. All that is worthwhile is the involvement that we have with the characters in their personal dramas, but at no time is the story that makes up the plot acceptable.
It gets to be ridiculous, criminals wanted by the police travel freely around the city, at airports, at train stations, as if there were no policemen, documents were not necessary, search photos were not released, etc.
The most wanted criminal of all in London, the hairy Japanese Yuto, is seen by the city's main police chief and he does nothing, doesn't draws his gun and doesn't even recognize the police car that works for him (Sarah's car).
And worst of all: the main character, who is the Japanese policeman Kenzo, arrives in London, disrupts everyone's life, his simple presence there is indirectly responsible for the death of several innocent people, such as the death of the lesbian girl and her friends, the death the police officer Sarah's ex-boyfriend, the death of the American couple, the death of Donna, the death of Tiff, among many other deaths, all this just to save the single life of his mobster brother, and yet he is the heartthrob of the show.
Excuse me, but it is all very bad in this story, even with a beautiful film production, soundtrack and great actors and a good starting point for an idea for a story.
I'll use a very cliché phrase here: style over substance.
