Seriously boring and slow paced, so many loopholes
Gone through this one episode and in the midst of the second episode and decided to give up.
I don't know if this is the norm of Swedish movie/TV show with such slow paced. I don't even understand why there is only one investigator involved in such a big school shooting case which resulted in four dead and one critically injured. The atmosphere is mostly dim and the conversation/dialogue is boring...
The substandard acting is a pain to watch.. everybody has mostly a joker face... the story is age old and nothing new. perhaps the only consolation about this show is to remind parents to properly do the parenting. otherwise your kids will wind up either dead or in jail.
Ok. on second thought. how about go ahead and finished the show before I jumped to conclusion too early. Nah.. the rating stays the same. It was still a mediocre show. actually it is even worse than the first two episodes. The story happens at the end was staged to justify the verdict.
The story has so many loopholes, some examples: I find it hard to believe how a straight A student would crawl back to his alleged sexual attacker, remember this female lead is not someone who is weak, she is rebellious, mean and rude (to her own parents and to anyone else), the ridiculous thing is the counselor defend is she didn't went to school that morning knowing what Sebastian will do, seriously?! they bring explosives and guns!!! the judges just take her words "I dont know"...??!!!
The jail guard shows so much sympathy to her..cmon, you dont became a correctional officer because you want to befriend inmates. You became an officer of the law because you believe the law and somehow you believe in justice.. or am i being a perfectionist? or illusionist?
Amanda's mother's reaction defies logic reaction, no mother could have love/forgive her daughter's killer so soon after the murder... just crazy
the end of the story is she goes home without any conviction, not even a manslaughter charge... oh yeah, I wouldnt be want to reside in Sweden because murderers probably are walking among us and criminals could be sitting beside you on the subway...
Comclusion : a very bad written fiction story, and a total waste of time
In Family We Trust (2018)
surprisingly a good show
Accidentally bumped into this show on Netflix.
I am really surprised by the quality and acting of this Thai TV series. This is my first time watching a Thai show.
The story is good, actually most of us can relate to the story specially if you are an Asian. The age old conservative family of the old, the importance of male offspring than female members. The close knit family and the love they have for each other.
I am also impressed with how the story flow as in the middle of the season, the killer is revealed and how every member struggle to comprehend and react.
Another surprise is the acting of all the young actors (9x9), I must admit i thought they are just a random average boy group but was genuinely impressed by them specially the two lead (Yi and Pete).
The only minor flaw I have is "do people really can get that upset over something that had happened 20 years ago, so upset that one can kill?"
Overall conculsion : a good and enjoyable show.
Somewhere Between (2017)
average show with a very bad acting lead actress
This is not the most intense, most interesting TV show there is.. but it is not that bad as some reviews claimed.
The story is quite predictable as I get to episode four, I can already guess who is the bad guys here. The show has somewhat fast pace which is good, not much twist and turn but with some actions. This is a killing time kind of show. I can tell you there are way lots of garbage show in Netflix than this one.
The only thing that will hinder you from continue to kill time with this show is the lead actress - Paula Patton, i do not know how she became an actress, maybe the trend now is actresses cant act, singers cant sing..
She consistently has that "trying-so-hard, over-the-top" look on her face for the whole 10 episodes, her hairdo doesnt help either, she looks kind of old and haggard to be the wife of that DA guy. Even the child actresses (Serena & Ruby) acts better than her. And that Serena character is a spoil brat who is a constant pain to watch too. Seriously, Should have fired the casting director and probably the director for accepting such sub-par acting.
How It Ends (2018)
This is the worst film by Netflix, say no more, move on...
La forêt (2017)
seriously 7.3 rating?? complete waste of time
I am beginning to question my sanity. This show has a high rating of 7.3 by 17 reviewers?!
I hope in real life the ability of the French police force is not what they have portrayed in this series cause I will be worried for the average French citizens. That middle aged angry woman is one obnoxious and annoying character..., seriously, pointing a gun at a suspect inside the police station like that is meaningless in France... no investigation? no suspension? So basically, the French police can do whatever they want with their guns??? Calling the shot for major manhunt without her superior's approval is "OK, just don't do that again"!!! cmon?! Shouting and threatening two underage boy without the parents or a lawyer's presence? Is this how the French operates? I can't believe the sloppiness
The captain is a weak, no decision-making skills head of the town's police force. And the whole story is just so set up for the next action, there are just too many loopholes I don't need to go over it here. And that teacher keeps going back to the forest can gather more info than the captain??
The most hilarious one is why Mr. Lopez (the killer) would taint the school's notice board and direct the teacher to him??? Because the story didn't tell us who steal the photo so I assume it must be him. But why would he do that?
Overall, it is a major waste of time....
Osanago warera ni umare (2017)
Hard to understand Japanese Culture from an outside's view
Stumbled on this film on a lazy sunday afternoon. Opened my eyes to the Japanese Culture of family belief and norm. This is hands down one of the worst movie that I have watched.
As with all Japanese and Korean movie, they are slow paced and actors and actresses seldom display too much emotion on their face (compare to Hollywood movies). No problem there, as I do expect that.
However what I do not expect is the culture, if this movie is to be believe, does it mean when a couple divorced, the father has no responsibility or no rights to his children? The children just simply pass to the step father to raise and that's it?
I truly dont understand Nanae's surprise when she sees her husband's child from his first marriage, so a japanese wife is expected that her husband will cut all ties to his previous life once he is married to her? And the daughter just introduced herself as her father's friend to the father's step daughter as if the step daughter has more right to him than the biological child. And the father didnt even bother to correct it!! and the current wife reiterated that the biological child is his friend!!! How crazy is that!!! It is as though he needs to sneak to meet with his child like it is a crime! And the biological child acted like she is the mistress getting caught, is loaded with guilt to have the father drove her to the hospital!! this is truly amazing (means as a sarcasm)
So, basically, the Japanese society is you let other man raise your child and you raise another man's children, just like that??? And the craziness of all is this guy paid the biological father to meet with his step daughter who despised him and all the mother can do is shout No No, No , you cant let them meet!! dear lord.....give me a break
Now I understand why Japan has the most aged population in the world. With a family sturcture like that, who in his right mind would want to get marry and raise the next generation (who probably aren't his children).
Painful to watch and a total waste of life's time
The story is probably good with some not so new idea. I get that over population is one of the main problems of the world.
The whole cast of acting is so bad they can all collect an Oscar award for the most bad actors and actresses. Leading the way is the guy who play the Adam character, his voice is hoarse and unconvincing, it is a pain to watch him on screen, and the actors that play "Wiley", "chuck" , "Gord" characters, I don't know if it is the characters that is so badly written or is it just the actors portraying them failed big time. The acting is just so painful to watch to the point that I am glad Gord is killed off and I am hoping Chuck wont be getting up from his fell ...
BTW, they all look way way older than 22, c'mon, that girl Wiley look like she is hitting 30 and Gord, 22? Give me a break.
The Girlfriend Experience (2016)
no direction, not entertaining
Definitely one of the worst TV show. Stumbled on this show accidentally and was attracted by the title.
I am on my episode 10 and still did not understand the "gist" of the show. I failed to see any real theme or reason for Christine's decision to become an escort. She didn't need the money, and she certainly did not enjoy the sex. Same goes with her decision to uncover her supervisor's illegal activity on the lawsuit. Why would she do that and it seems like a very hasty decision to go to Erin right away without careful consideration, considering that she just started out as an intern in the firm for not very long. And she is supposedly an Ivy League smart law student. Not a smart move if you ask me.
This show has too much sex scenes to the point of repetitive and boring. This high price escort sure made her money easily, she (or the actress) has no emotion, no charisma, not sexy or charming, not witty or funny, just a plain woman without any character. Even the sex is boring, just bland death eyes looking into nothing, like two robots having sex for the reason to procreate not for pleasure. And that old fool left her 50K? The woman paid her 20K to leave her husband? This all sounds so unreal if in a real world. A millionaire would never voluntarily drag his own name and be associated with a prostitute.
The acting is so bland and cold, maybe that is intentional I don't know. Her dialogue was delivered in the most robotic like, no feelings or ups and downs....Just monotone with dead eyes and tired face, it really is hard to understand men would pay 1000 an hour for her seriously??
Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
A must-see film
This is an inspirational movie about how two broken souls found each other and heal each other by their love for each other. It also sends out a very important message – that there is life after every tragedy, every broken heart. Although I realize in real life, life doesn't always have a happy ending. This is also a film about family, friends, love, compassion, understanding and helping one another. Every characters has their own life problems, while trying to live with their own life/problems and somehow remember to look around and give their support to a friend in need. I especially like the ever-so-patient friend (John Ortiz), of his love and support for his bipolar friend
I was never aware of the intensity of the mental pain and anguish suffered by a bipolar until this film. Through this film, I learn more about bipolar, how it affects the life of the patient as well as those around him i.e. the family and friends
Bradley Cooper gave a very good portray of a bipolar, for once, we could get pass his good look and concentrate on his acting instead. I would like to praise Jennifer Lawrence for her role as a depressed young widow. She is very convincing and has the potential of a great acting talent. I could only imagine how depressing and painful it is to be a widow at such a young age, at of the pain and guilt of losing that someone you love so dearly and so suddenly . Overall, I would recommend this film to anyone, in my opinion, this is one of the must-see film.
Modern Family (2009)
A nice family show
This is a great show all in all, a joy to watch
.. I like the main family (the father), he marries this loud Latina, lives with her passionate little boy, Manny. The three of them create quite a hilarious family with a lot of laugh. Then comes the son's (gay partnership) family, you can almost feel the normality of this arrangement and somehow forget that gay partnership arrangement used to be a taboo, I am glad that they set it up like this rather than the conventional husband-wife scenario. These guys are funny. They complement each other very well.. then there is the Dunphy family, I like father Dunply, he is the best comedian of all the Dunphys follow by his little boy
the only casting I am not convince is Sarah Hyland as Haley, I don't know, just feel that maybe someone taller and older could better play the character especially since Haley does nothing but keep chasing after boys
and she wears too much make-up too.
Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)
A truly inspiring story
This is one of the best films that I have ever watched, it is the most heartwarming and yet the most heart wrencking movie, can't recall any film have such emotional impact on me. I still keep thinking about the story and every time when I think about it, I felt sad and so sorry for both the Prof and the dog, I am sure this is a film I won't forget ... the soundtrack is another praise.., definitely a classic for Richard Gere..
Although the movie centered on the bond/love between Hachi and his human parent, this is also a story about love between spouse, love between friends, father-daughter love and most of all, a close knit community of people with a big heart...
My favourite scene is where Mrs Wilson come back to town after 10 years and found Hachi still waiting, so touching I can't control my tears... the closing scene is just devastating, Hachi died still dreaming of his master coming out of the train station.....
This is a must see movie for every dog lovers. For human, dogs may just be a part of our life, but for the dog(s), we are everything they got. Again, Richard Gere is just superb and natural, so did Joan Allen. And lastly the dogs are so cute and adorable.
A truly remarkable wait - 10 years... words failed to describe the amount of love, devotion and loyalty Hachi had for Parker...
