Shakira (2019)
A quick glance into vulnerability
This story feels deeply and also explains bluntly the vulnerability of the Roma community, vulnerability that is shared by minorities all over. The narrative is dynamic and leaves you with a feeling of intended frustration.
Curiosa (2019)
Erotism as a release valve
Social and cultural rules bound this woman to experience forced erotism while the same norms impulse voyeurism in a very finite group of men. In the end, pleasure is learnt and forced by continous dissaponting relationships.
Noémie Merlant carries positively the weight of this chaotic film.
Les drapeaux de papier (2018)
Truth within a conflict that we do not like to discuss
Courageous Film about a topic that is rarely discussed... life after confinement. In a very simple script the film discusses the complexity of welcoming someone you love who has been incarcerated and how it might or might not be possible.
A vibrant performance from Noémie Merlant and Guillaume Gouix who portray this sister- brother relationship that comes to terms with life itself.
Le ciel attendra (2016)
The story behind rhe story
Loneliness, fragility and a world filled with superficial thoughts take the best of the main characters and make them vulnerable. Performances are deep and true, the story is slow and complex interrelating how both characters became prey to a hunter. It is not a film about faith, is a film about feeling alone and wanting honesty and love.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)
It is refreshing!
Did you see Iron Man and Robin Hood? Yes? Well, this film is better, simply because the story is original. I know, I know, it is based on the computer game...which I used to play ages ago...but the story portrayed in the script is classic and refreshing at the same time; the performances are natural and the stunt scenes are unbelievable. Now, what did Iron Man 2 miss and this movie excels at? Plot, and a fast action pace without being over caffeinated big bang explosions (ever saw G.I. Joe?)
Having said that, you must be warned, the dialogues are simple but not stupid and it does contain a fair amount of moral references.
Sure everyone is crying out loud about the British accents... "ohh but Persians didn't speak English" yeah but this isn't The Passion of The Christ, or Apocalypto and Mel Gibson was nowhere near the production, Jake Gyllenhaal is an American, but the rest of the cast is British, makes sense they should all have a similar accent doesn't it?? So quit yer whining
Overall a good wholesome fun summer movie. worth repeating!
