One of those cases where the sequel is far worse than the original
They kept all the bad things that made the first one really unlikable and added a few new ones. It totally deserves the low rating. Even the soundtrack is worse.
The dreadful overacting and stupid behavior of characters are even more prominent this time.
The only thing more idiotic than the antagonist's plan is the execution of the said plan. He should have done nothing. His goal doesn't makes sense at all.
The special effects are still laughable just like the fight scenes.
The whole ozone-thing is a good memento of the unreliable predictions of our future. Otherwise you don't lose much if you decide to not watch this installment of the tetralogy.
It is interesting how this became a cult film...
Despite being so bad. I mean the half-assed plot, the cliche behavior, the (over) acting, the sub-par special effects, inadequate accents, the abysmal fight scenes and so on... The only thing remarkable is the Queen soundtrack.
Don't get me wrong I don't hate this movie but after re-watching it as an older person it is hard to not see all the failures. It served as a basis for an idea to be followed and fleshed out later. Although not everything that came after this was good either, like the even worse Quickening.
By today's standards this simply isn't a well made movie but not seeing it is still missing out.
Yep, this is sex ed...
In a primitive, dirty version. Way to fight against the stereotypes of female comedians. Congratulations, Nikki! Let's talk some more about body parts and sexual acts. Apparently there is nothing beyond this topic that a woman stand-up performer can blabber about.
The show is ordinary, boring and feels longer than it actually is. It has zero re-watch value and zero redeeming qualities. You could easily exchange her to some of her peers and you wouldn't notice anything because they all speak and think alike while doing garbage "entertainment". These type of comics (Iliza, Schumer, Whitney) became worse with time. She was funny in the CC roasts but that probably wasn't her own material.
The Winchesters (2022)
The road so far is pretty bad
Sorry, Jensen but you should go back being Soldier Boy (or do something else). That was a good role but so far this show is absolute garbage and a waste of time. It brings nothing new to the established lore.
Bad acting, bad casting, zero chemistry, insufferable characters, stupid dialogues, nonsensical behavior, boring and illogical plot, copied premise, "blurry" image, cheap CGI, uninteresting monsters, talk-diarrhea about feelings, Scooby Doo imitation without the dog, usual CW teenage trash... Should I continue?
I simply cannot find anything good in this cringy Supernatural afterthought.
Is this supposed to be comedy?
What happened to this guy? At least he was somewhat funny but this special is so boring and preachy... I fell asleep halfway around and later forced myself to finish it. Sure, he can do accents but that is far from enough, especially from someone like him. Not once did I laugh. I was just sitting and quietly thinking: is he serious? What the heck is this? It's not even mediocre level just pure garbage.
Regarding his messages that felt really forced: it was more like repeating talking points and not a stand-up show. It looks like the isolation really made these famous people even more out of touch with reality and common folks.
Also his material feels outdated, this would have been acceptable maybe 1 or 1.5 years ago. Also most people had enough of this whole worldwide sickness misery... let it go already!
Avenue 5 (2020)
I don't understand how this got a second season
The first one was so bad. The series isn't funny, interesting or any way good. Hugh Laurie is completely wasted on this (don't expect a House-level character). Every character is either unlikable or stupid. Most of the time both. I guess I should be rooting for their demise instead.
Others may call the "humor" dry or dark I call it not existent. This really feels like torture.
The plot is unbelievable just like that the ship's crew is actually qualified to work there. Common sense and logic goes out the window, too. It has zero re-watch value.
Only watch this if you have masochistic tendencies.
You cannot replace Craig Ferguson
Especially not with this hack. Fake and lame host. He really lacks the charm and talent of Craig. It's hardly believable that they choose him. Were there no other competent candidates?
His mannerism feels false and forced like he is hiding his real (bad) personality. He doesn't have the insightful attitude toward his guest which i think is crucial to make a really good talk-show. He is playing it safe and mild which doesn't make him and this product unique or at least good. Making him the host added nothing valuable to it.
I hope they choose someone better next time. He did not deserve this role but he deserved to go.
Lacking in budget, writing, casting and logic
It's also not faithful to the already existing comic-book and animation versions. I'm not just talking about the looks but the demeanor of the characters, too. Basically they are using the names to create a totally different product. This type of stealing/destruction should not be allowed.
The cheapness and the lack of commitment ruins this. I know that body-painting is a troublesome procedure but they should at least apply on the hands and faces! The talking heads solution to the money problem is irritating. The actors are miscast or given useless script. The writing is daily soap opera level. Action scenes are a rarity and often bad. Moronic behavior plagues everything.
Also, starting the first season with probably the biggest of baddies was an idiotic idea. You can only go lower after that and unfortunately they do.
Summarized: if you are able to suffer through the huge amount of bad you get rewarded a small amount of good.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
The only good thing in this series was the continuation of a different one
Does this count as a spoiler? I mean Pedro Pascal is in the cast list.
They completely butchered and neutered the character of Boba Fat (pun intended). He acts like a totally different person. Naturally they try to explain the change in the show but... it just doesn't feel right. He also looks old. His story is flat, boring and sometimes doesn't make sense.
Some characters and their design are laughably bad (the "Vespa" riders) and occasionally the behavior of people is ridiculously stupid.
Ming-Na Wen brings her expected and usual form which is actually not bad.
Without Mando this would have been a 1/10 rating.
The Terminal List (2022)
Crisp Rat never was and never will be a serious action star
He has a goofy look and personality that is why he is more suited for comedic roles. I expected him to start laughing in every scene he was in while he was doing his serious Star Lord face.
People may like this series because it doesn't push the MESSAGE like basically all the other ones. I am sorry but that just not enough. I am not saying this is unwatchable but it is far from a 10/10 masterpiece that the positive reviewers suggest. I mean you could waste a couple of hours watching this if you don't have anything better to do.
The story isn't much either and if you have seen the Netflix version of the Punisher you might find some similarity between the two.
The Woman King (2022)
History falsifying, agenda pushing trash
This specific African tribe (Dahomey) was FOR slavery not against it. They fought against Europeans to keep enslavement in place to serve their own self interests. Also they were quite brutal, torturing and sacrificing humans on a regular basis.
They can make a movie like this just don't claim that it was based on reality. This is a disgusting fantasy based on current day politics that spits on the memory on everyone who actually fought against subjugating others. Don't try to make heroes out of villains!
Just because they put some effort into the scenery and fight scenes does not make this a good movie.
Clerks III (2022)
Don't expect a comedy! This is a drama.
Anyone who actually watched this sequel is painfully aware of this fact. The movie doesn't even try to be funny most of the time and when it tries it fails. At the end it has some mediocre jokes anything before that falls flat with the soul-less delivery.
I should call this false advertising which seems to be Kevin's thing lately (He-man).
It is nowhere near the previous two Clerks. Not in quality, writing, dialogue... The actors are old, probably too old for this. Nostalgia alone can't make a good film.
I seriously dislike the events. Clearly there wasn't a problem with the availability of actors so they choose this miserable plot. Disappointing.
Current events and politics ruin the show
People had enough of that and try to move on or simply doesn't want to hear that in a supposedly entertaining type of event.
The other parts are also not really good. The almost two hours were not used well.
Mostly longer stories that are kind of boring and lacking in the jokes apartment. It felt like self advertising and bragging.
Too much focus on the event and not on delivering quality to the audience.
He is not my favorite comedian but he has better specials than this.
I believe the long hiatus ruined some (or most) standup performers. They became disconnected, out of touch with people.
Hot Forever (2022)
Easily her worst. No jokes just boring stories. A lot of talk about female body parts because that is funny and interesting for everyone. Also that is so unique and totally not common among female comics. Bleh.
You don't like my review? I did not like this show. This was made for women, probably. It is so hard being female... yeah, sure. Try being a guy.
Dumb, shallow, preachy snooze fest. Naturally she has to address current politics... and express her self-believed superiority in the topic.
Something is fishy with the reviews. Only 12 at this moment after two weeks?
This is my 3rd review, the previous 2 were deleted without explanation. Someone doesn't like the truth.
Spin City (1996)
Overrated and messy but occasionally funny
Most jokes are flat and forced but there are some exceptions. The show's base idea is unusual. Some characters are likeable despite their massive flaws. The mayor is not one of them. He is a selfish, egotistical moron who ruins the lives of the people who serve him and sacrifice their own happiness. I don't find this funny at all. He should have left the series.
I am aware that real life events messed with the production. Some of it was unavoidable but others probably not. If you have a serious illness that is it but if actors are not treated well... I mean there must be a reason why many of them left without a real explanation. Not to mention that this was barely or not at all addressed in the show.
Charlie Sheen was a wrong choice for replacement just like Ashton Kutcher in Two and a half man. Is this delayed karma? MJF had a presence while he was just his usual crappy self.
The last two seasons are barely watchable.
Y: The Last Man (2021)
Unintentionally ironic /well deserved cancellation
This is what you get when you take a dump on everything that makes a good story. Especially if it was already well written. They should have just followed the comic.
A show about the last man on earth? More likely an extra in his own series. Pathetic. This type of political pandering kills ALL creativity and leads to unwatchable garbage.
These people had no idea what they were doing which resulted in some funny consequences. A world without man falls apart? Yep, exactly. Gender studies won't help with these kind of problems. Women are just as bad as men? Yep, maybe even more.
Make faithful adaptations or nothing!
Not watching this you lose nothing...
But you lose your time if you do. Definitely not recommended. Stupid, slow, boring, cliche-ridden film.
Except for one final twist this movie is so predictable that you can skip multiple scenes easily and not miss anything valuable.
I can't even spoil this because barely anything happens in it that has any importance and the repeating flashback scenes are just tiresome.
The characters are ALL flat and behave irrationally even in the face of danger. They are also unlikable. The antagonist motivation is unbelievable.
Stallone does his job adequately but clearly this is just another paycheck to him.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
It is clear now that the Mandalorian was just a fluke
ALL the other live-action shows are bad including this one!* What was the idea behind this? To create a show about a white male so that they then could create a show about a black female? A throwaway series? No wonder it's garbage.
Ridiculously stupid and illogical writing which leads to unbelievable scenes and events. Some of it would be shameful even in a show made for kids under 10.
To put this simply they castrated Kenobi and also made him a moron with zero ethics.
The only reason I'm giving this a 2 because some of the Vader scenes were good for showing what the force could do in the hands of a master.
Have I mentioned the idiotic writing?
*Although Andor has some interesting scenes if you have the patience to wait for them.
Disney is really pushing the fake reviews on this non-Star-Wars soap opera snoozefest
(Updated after the end of the first season. Minor spoilers.)*
This is a cheaply made "space" soap opera. It is so boring that i push the fast forward even in the few "action" scenes. The visuals and equipment are wrong, mostly look like a Blade Runner re-imagining or what Earth could be later in the 21th century.
Ridiculous amount of side characters of zero interest in this prequel of a prequel. Why should i care any of them? Why should i care about the main characters? These are just random people thrown together with 0 connection and by people i mean humans because there are not many other species.
This doesn't feel like SW at all, it could be any generic sci-fi show.
Just like Woman King on RT this stinks of manipulation. There is no way this series which can put you to sleep is rated above 8. It is nowhere near the Mandalorian!"
* Updated review:
After watching the whole season I had to correct certain things:
- This still doesn't feel like SW although later episodes improve in this matter. We actually get to see some Stormtroopers, too!
- The show is really slow moving, especially in the beginning. You have to wait more than halfway through to things pick up. That is why I claimed the fake reviews. Watching the first couple of episodes makes you want to quit just like I did.
- Most of the time you don't know who is important in the story and who isn't.
- Still way too much drama and talk but certain characters start to become interesting.
- Some parts of the design became better but cheapness still occurs like current every day objects as props. Also, Coruscant should be way more advanced looking.
- Some aliens are present but we mostly see ordinary humans.
- The tractor beam-scene was pretty good just like the whole funeral.
- The prison and torture scenes are really disturbing and they feel like not belonging in the SW universe. I guess that's why people call this an adult version of SW. I would call it unnecessary, especially with everything bad happening in the world right now.
There is a possibility that this will be better in the second season. More action would be nice.
Werewolf by Night (2022)
It is not bad just not particularly good
I highly dislike the black and white thing. It doesn't have a place in 2022 when 10 bit 4K HDR is quite available for ordinary people. It feels cheap and badly made. Like robbing the audience of the real experience just to save a few bucks. I get that they call this "homage" but i still don't like it.
The story isn't much. They easily could have done it in a 10 minutes short film. Contains a lot of filler and unnecessary shots.
Some parts of the fight scenes are laughably bad (attackers standing around and inexplicably throwing away weapons) while other parts are good. Like they didn't care and released a half-made version.
It is not a bad watch though, the ending is OK.
The Orville (2017)
While it has some interesting episodes overall it is bad
The first season had some intriguing ideas but after that everything goes downhill. Lot and i mean a LOT of political pandering happens later. The personal relationships of actors also negatively effect the show (dating in real life).
There are a bunch of long scenes with overused CGI shots and supposedly emotional music. Fast forward and skipping is the way to deal with them. Even the fighting was made boring.
In the beginning it was a mixture of homage and comedy although the jokes weren't that funny. Season 2-3 became more of a soap opera in space with current day politics. Bleh. Quite disappointing. It could have been much better but they choose the easy way. The (hopefully) final parts are simply terrible unless you like to be hammered in the head with the MESSAGE.
If you have nothing else to do you may waste your time watching this but there are way better space-series.
The AI that wrote, acted and animated this movie needs an upgrade
Especially when it comes to how humans talk, act and feel in real life.
This a soulless, stupid, illogical piece of trash. Character depth is non-existent and their behavior is unnatural/irrational. Everything they do feels robotic.
It is a huge disservice to the Green Lantern John Stewart who was a pretty cool addition in the Justice League (Unlimited) series. Here he is just a wooden, shallow puppet. The others are bad, too. They also take a huge dump on Hal Jordan... and the Guardians... and pretty much everyone else. Including the viewers.
It feels like it was designed by a machine that has been fed a certain amount of data so it can select the common points and make something out of it that resembles an actual film.
This show is horrible. Sure, it has nice visuals (occasionally) but otherwise it is a pointless, empty, shallow piece of propaganda garbage. A hijacked IP like many others.
It must be mentioned that they replaced 2 main white male characters with black females. Naturally this brings nothing extra to the table but they can pat themselves on the back by being so diverse. (Although there are other groups to choose from if they wanted real representation). A very important character that should be male were also replaced with a female. Why? Just because. We can't show well intentioned white males in power as a good thing. It is against the RULES.
The first episode has some Foundation in it, after that everything feels like fillers. The entire emperor story line is unnecessary. I'm interested in what happens with a galactic empire not people talking about how they feel about each other.
I had to force myself to finish the first season because it is so bad. Fast forward becomes your friend quite soon. Or should i say "SKIP"? :)
Don't expect high philosophy, science, logic. You wanted questions like the fate of the entire human race, free will and determination discussed? Look for an other show!
Everyone who read the books will be disappointed with this generic sci-fi. Those who didn't read it have barely anything to gain by watching it. I don't recommend this to anyone.
The Sandman (2022)
It requires real talent to create such a boring show about otherwise intriguing characters
How should i describe this mess? Slow, tangled, weak, agenda pusher? I guess they made it this way because of the dream theme. So you fall asleep while watching. It's immersion :)
They have immensely powerful characters which you only know if you have preexisting information about them. The series does a very poor job showing this to the viewers. All of them seem off somehow. Like seeing a familiar picture but the details are all wrong.
The casting is horrendous. No actor fit their roles. Clearly talent wasn't a requirement. Even the voice acting is bad.
There is a breaking point in the storytelling after episode 6. Everything becomes worse after that.
Overall it should have been more gritty, gory and faster paced.
Doragon bôru sûpâ: Sûpâ hîrô (2022)
Unfortunately it is a huge step down from the previous ones in every category
The story, the characters, the animation style are all worse than before. The main threat is just laughably bad. They try to get us with nostalgia but it doesn't work. I'm afraid that is the new (garbage) direction where we headed and not just in the anime version but also in the manga.
They need to go back to the "old" style of animation and to the good stories with meaningful plots.
There is some inconsistency with previously established skills/abilities, events and character traits (Pan, Gohan, Piccolo, Bulma).
Power-ups just magically appear from nothing. I don't like that. No training, no preparation. These things just happen with no prior signs.
The new androids look too generic and lack real personalities.
The bad guys motivations are illogical and barely believable.
Overall this movie is quite unnecessary. They should have done the Galactic Patrol Saga even if in multiple installations.
