The Deep Dark (2023)

Great concept, bad execution
10 April 2024
The atmosphere is bleak but the direction could've been better to make it a bit of slow pace/slo burn kinda deal but instead it just goes typical and there is nothing new to see here. The creature looks like a puppet, Idk when these movie directors are going to learn that not showing anything or less is also doable and builds up the tension even. Some lore would've been better, gory scenes don't have any impact.

As a muslim, I'm completely blown away ;)
5 February 2024
It was a surprise how good it was, the representation of Muslims and Islam was so accurate and beautiful, quoting hadiths and even prayers were done correctly. There is so much humanity in this show, the beautiful Norwegian people and their kindness. There is a brief lesson to learn and question 'why', why and how someone is radicalized, decades of oppression and misery can lead to hatred, and people become irrational and even forget the teachings of Islam. If it was Hollywood, it would be nothing, just another generic script, targeting and using stereotypes to generalize a whole population of Muslims. It reminded me of Anders Thomas Jensen (Flickering Lights, Adam Aebler). I would be following the creators of this show (Izer Aliu and Anne Bjørnstad) and see what else they have created. Even when the English subtitles I had, weren't perfect, maybe machine-translated, it didn't stop me from binge-watching this brilliant series!

Beautifully shot, good performance by the lead but lacks in story
22 August 2023
The end got me thinking, and I couldn't understand or believe that if that's not selfish. So basically you can use people to grow up or replace them because you had a 'feeling'. It's supposed to normalize or either portray that it's not selfish to be indecisive and just look for Your Happiness, doesn't matter what other people go through or how big of a mistake it was, you keep on searching. The ending really made me feel completely unrelatable, how self-absorbed and oblivious she was, but at the end of the day, she just let go of it, like nothing happened. Overall it will have your attention, but it might leave a sour taste if you feel indifferent to the real message of this film.

More dumber than a right wing politician

Nothing scary besides the fact how famous this franchise is, and what is wrong with those people who praise this movie. I don't know what else to write, I love horror movies and i am always taking a chance but when i was watching Insidious, my expectations were low but I forgot the potential hollywood has to make a movies like these, with crazy budget and still hire writers who can't even write a decent script but recycle the same story with new characters, that's their writing style! Add more people or add another supernatural entity. You can only rely on indie directors for horror when it comes to hollywood or just search foreign movies and get lucky that you found some that you Haven't Watched.

Imagine it was made by Charlie Brooker AND.. Sacha Baron Cohen
16 April 2023
Not that bad but it could've been more brutal, just every horrendous clip from how trump got elected and his good ole american rants and creating a new platform for nationalists, paving the way for every racist to be not just be racist but defy reality, fight reality and become pathologically Dyslexic about the definition of 'freedom'. How covid revolutionized the concept from WFH and how effective it is. There is a lot of good material which should've been used. Maybe use people like Steve hughes and Doug stanhope for their brutal social commentary. Sacha Baron Cohen is a master of pranking and roasting wackos on another level.

Netflix, on how to make mediocre shows
15 April 2023
Love watching other cultures but not like this, all this show does is teaches you about masculinity, feminism and lgbtq. I wanted to watch a show about middle/lower class mexicans and their superb food, the authentic portrayal of their lives. Is it possible to have a show which focuses more on the culture, instead of educating everyone about what's trending or what we should say/think? How about just teaching everyone to be human, stop dividing us? At one time they are trying to change our mentality and yet it's so clear they always have ways to show us, how to live our lives, how consumerism and success is so important. Not everyone is co-opting, maybe they are content with their personalities. Mo and This Fool is a good example, we need more shows like that.

Remember watching something original?
5 April 2023
This is it! You will never forget this random, weird movie and appreciate people like Anders Thomas Jensen. When you are bored of watching pulp fiction again and again, you need to look up Anders Thomas Jensen's movies, from Adam Aebler to In China They Eat Dogs. There is always something about his movies, from dark/dry humor to the human condition. You can never predict his movies, there is no certain theme, it's always exciting to watch what he ends up experimenting with, from relatable characters to completely unexpected twists... This movie feels like it was made by Lars von Trier and Guy Ritchie. This is in the top 10 movies that I love.

after 911...
5 March 2023
At first i thought this show might be exploring the bleak side of reality, Fire, and stuff but weirdly it's mostly about a few guys and their boners taking them to new places in life. The acting is good but side role characters are either goofy or completely absurd. The forced comedy is out of place, maybe they try too hard or maybe they lack originality and repeat the same old routine where everything becomes predictable and it's embarrassing. Tommy and sheila are both good actors but the show lack a solid script or maybe its targetted audience is people who like FUN and are not afraid of ghosts haunting them. It's hard to watch grown-up adults, especially macho lady killers act like kids.

And the music with the sudden realization update in the end... doesn't work.

Superb cast in a boring mess
2 March 2023
Everyone plays like they are autistic and nobody knows what's going on but they are still doing something and then baam! The CABAL. The chick with from suicide squad is acting like she's still in a super hero movie, cheesy acting. If there was reason for wasting time watching this was christian bale and chris rock, but it was such a boring mess. It's a perfect example that hollywood doesn't care, tier A cast and the high budget of this sleeping aid? Maybe people would say it's art, art to make you wonder when would it end because kept going drifting off and then Baaam! Adhd's gone, we got something now in general.

Alpha Males (2022– )
3/10
Learning material for old school men
16 February 2023
16-year-old daughter teaching her dad the ways to hook up on tinder, a content creator buying followers, taking selfies, and making money. Everything about this show is to train you to the 'new' world, where you don't question anything and just go along with it because if you don't, you will hear a lot of words like 'alpha male ego', 'machismo', 'sexist' and 'patriarchal'. The only couple that is actually funny is the old couple who are trying to make it work. It's a shame that they love to normalize overly sexual society and make it a norm that content creating is an actual job and the only requirements are that you have to be pretty, no matter through surgeries or makeup or whatever it takes and then you create 'content' by wearing sexy clothing and pretending that most of the followers are not taking a dump on your empowerment by just lusting over you in whatever way, so a cardiac physician shouldn't be compared to a content creator because it's the same thing and that's the world we face nowadays. The message to all the guys is you are a loser, if you don't want an open relationship or if you don't participate in orgies. Monogamy doesn't work, it's obsolete because it's unnatural to be with just a single person, and it's important because our raison d'être is to shag everyone, all the time and that's true happiness.

Overused jump scares and extremely dull
4 January 2023
Ritual (Modus Anomali) made me follow Joko anwar's work but sadly it's been disintegrating, from predictable plots to using typical formulas. There is no ingenuity, nothing new and Communion made sure that I stop wasting my time with his movies. This whole movie fails to tell a story, the jumpscare arena aka the apartment will bore you, there is nothing to see but old tactics being reused to a point, it's so dull that it's hard to finish the movie. The misinterpretation of Islamic practices was such a huge letdown, even when Indonesia is the most populated Muslim country, yet they couldn't bother to make it accurate if they chose to show it in the film. I would recommend watching Shutter and The Medium (thai).

If you are a fan of Doug Stanhope, you are going to love Steve Hughes
7 December 2022
Highly underrated, and philosophical. The best way to describe Steve hughes is.. imagine Charlie Brooker doing comedy, but instead of using symbolism/fantasy to convey his message, Steve laugh mocks at our mundane, controlled reality. He questions and decrypts every thread of our lives, every ritual/habit and the gaping hole of societal indoctrination. At first, he comes off as a conspiracy nut but if you listen, you will understand he's rational, intelligent and tired of every 'norm' and uncovering the cloak of media and it's long-term effects on our psyche. I hope he keeps making more shows, because there is no one like Steve hughes and Doug stanhope. I hope Charlie Brooker becomes aware of this intelligent man and creates a series, as he did with Doug stanhope. Love from pakistan!

Clerks III (2022)

Huge letdown
14 October 2022
Love the clerks 2, and was really looking forward for this one, non-conformist randall rants. I had no idea that this could that bad, never thought it would be this. I'm hugely surprised, how hard was it to write a script about something where you already have the characters and all you have to do is write jokes, maybe some social commentary of current events in a hilarious fashion through randel, some truth bombs? Plus they are older now, it doesn't all need to be funny but more on the dark comedy, it's weird to look at silent bob looking/acting like a cartoon because he's old af. Idk I think many of us can write a better script than this garbage.

The whole point is to make you disgusted
8 October 2022
The direction and the cinematography is top notch, the actors are good, there are some things which weren't given any answer, like was the husband depressed and what was the reason. It feels like the person who made this movie, his only sole intention to make you feel like crap and he no doubt achieved that, but was that it? The whole point of the movie is to feel down to a point that you would feel so bad? I can feel bad by seeing any animal get hurt, it's that simple but there was no other reason, no subliminal stuff to back up the reason why they did what they did. Avoid because this isn't a movie with much explanation but filled with random cruelty, just to spark emotions and then pretend that it's powerful stuff but it's really not.

The Rehearsal (2022– )

What is the point of this show?
14 September 2022
Honestly, I don't get it, is there a cryptic message which my little brain can't seem to see or decipher it? I love dry/dark sense of humor and comedy but this is not comedy, maybe more about the human condition and exploring different personality types (obviously the weird ones or the ones which are weird to me). The show's budget and the production is great, it's done really well but the whole point of these rehearsals are what? Catharism in disguise? There is no comedy nor a real message, but simulations of different people with different mindsets, on a psychological level it might be interesting but every episode has a plot and it revolves around it, making us believe that there is something more than absurdity and there isn't. The gist of the show is, that people are weird, people are irrational. If you are a fan of watching weird people being weirder because they are on the camera, then this is for you.

America's favorite sport, War
8 September 2022
Love the wire but this glorification, with a pinch of sense of humor to distract from the horror of war? Doesn't work on everyone, not everyone is a macho marine who served and of course, they love the show, why won't they? To hide the guilt of war crimes and killing innocent people in the name of 'freedom' or the evil 'wmd', not the good wmd which they themselves sell. There is a reason why it's always the third world countries become a test subject for the weaponry, which they are going to sell to the world, a slideshow created with the help of patriotic men/women who believe or end up believing that there is always an enemy, but they do charity too, U. N's whole existence is to create the 'humane' look after the countries in the U. N completely destroy third world countries. It's like hail mary, after committing genocide.

The direction was almost perfect, very visceral and the actors were good but the whole point of war, or the feelings about the war was never discussed in a fashion that left an impact, instead it was like 'that's how it is' and never questioning. The whole thing about most of 'hajis' can't speak english or being primitive is just the way hollywood is, lacking to do its homework and still stuck with the cave dweller template.

Good start, hope it gets better
28 August 2022
Some of the things culture/religion wise are bit exaggerated, not really true. Still it's fun to watch and there is humor and succeed in showing some part of culture in a right way. Maybe in the same fun way they can do better, pointing out all the stereotypes for muslims constructed by the western media for decades and correcting them and showing our real culture/religion and why it's beautiful. Love to see Maria's side of the story, hispanics portrayed in a realistic way, instead of the cartel stereotype. How similar our values are, muslims and hispanics, from living with our families to loving food (roti/tortilla) etc.

First two seasons were great
19 August 2022
Good writing, philosophical and a comprehensible plot, but it went really weird in the fourth season. Imagine white people's battle royale, fight scene with a new sci fi topping nobody knows about and then another fight scene. The biggest problem is the non consistent story/plot, in season four it's all bananas and they failed to try and explain 'oh right now this is happening and you will know why if you keep watching and we promise It Is Westworld not some garbage we wrote while being high on expensive drugs we bought from first two seasons'.

Waited a long time but disappointed
15 August 2022
The comic was deep, dark and philosophical. It blew away your mind, how interesting and uniquely dark it was, it wasn't about the protagonist but unforgettable stories and encounters. I knew in my heart when I first saw that netflix is making it and it saddened me because I don't read much comics but I always appreciated sandman and it was mentally stimulating for me. It's a disappointment, should've been made by HBO or the people who made watchman.

Getting too old to be manipulated into watching soap operas
10 August 2022
All the realism goes down the toilet after two episodes, a stranger becoming an accomplice? Vague and superficially complicated story, and of course russia bad! Because only US has the privilege to wage wars on countries which can't defend themselves, to exploit or claim their assets, because that's just business as usual.

Was kevin hart ever funny?
30 July 2022
It's incredible that they never learn and it's the same, dull, predictable garbage but the cast is different, instead of a 'wrestler', now kevin hart is with woody harrelson. This is fast food, easily produced and digestible if you don't mind the generic taste. Flashy entrances to really bad dialogue, with no actual funny scenes. Couldn't finish.

Scary scene and then a dramatic/emotional scene on shuffle
25 July 2022
Good ideas but the execution was terrible, the way it was directed and how they would just cut into a emotional scene too often was boring. Scary scenes were mostly shaky cameras and the good ideas which were spooky got murdered by bad execution. It felt like they copied good stuff from all the asian horror movies and combined it, it could've been better but the end result is completely disappointing and not gripping enough.

Watch first 5 seasons and then stop, not kidding
13 July 2022
The first 5 seasons captured the feeling, it was so good, the character development and how hard it was to survive and you could feel the tension but then, it went down, I wish i was kidding and exaggerating because I stopped after 7, the action scenes, these moronic new characters which made no sense at all. It was such a let down, because we were expecting quality and they were like we made enough money to make another one of these so yea.

Cool movie with no substance
30 June 2022
Felt like a watered down version of Liberal Arts (josh radnor). Majorly focuses on the good/chill guy who's on ecstacy. It's a coming of age drama/comedy, which doesn't have any solid story but he's a cool guy, helps everyone and also wants to get laid, because that's all young people do. The autistic kid was scripted to look like a robot, no feelings and no impact on the movie because she was an extra and the main story is about helping an older lady by giving her attention and a possibility of some getting some d because she's lonely and talks super low because she's also on drugs she did on fifty shades of bull$hit.

Hollywood's version of intelligent hermit
25 June 2022
So getting the D or the V solves everything? For hermits it's not something they put much thought into, dating that is. She is portrayed as an intelligent person without the realistic scenarios backing up that claim and it leans towards rom-com, should be indulged in, if you are looking for some optimistic braindead romance fun movie.
