The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story (2023)
Really bad film
Really bad movie about a horrible story. The acting was awful and wooden, the characters unbelievable. The whole thing with her being completely fine afterwards and people just randomly being in her house not caring what she wants. The wife with the crazy eyes saying that she loves him no matter what. The police officers treating her like a show pony. The police being soooo incompetent. The people at school talking about her while she's right in front of them. Her just smiling when she wakes up, no trauma, no feelings. I know the story is true, but it is just shown in a super unbelievable way. It wasn't even emotional because of that.
The Wilds (2020)
Annoying
I find the series annoying. No closure, just super drawn out plot and some 'cliffhangers', but in the end we are exactly in the same place: with the girls being helpless victims. They can drag it for 2-3 more seasons in the same way and still nothing would be resolved.
Dead to Me (2019)
Good idea, but annoying execution
How many times can you repeat exactly the same motive? Someone good does something bad, tries to hide it, in the end cannot, confesses / gets found out, in the end everything works out. I liked it as an original idea at the beginning, but repeating it 3 times is just frustrating. Also, the connections /coincidences are just crazy, they would have to live in a town with a population of 10 people for all of that to happen.
Brittany Runs a Marathon (2019)
Liked the film, hated the main character
It's incredible what an obnoxious and disgusting person the main character is... She doesn't deserve any of the people around her. She treats them like crap for months, then they all forgive her and support her after a pathetic apology. But her 'best friend' is the devil and doesn't deserve forgiveness because she didn't treat her running seriously at first. Overall, it was hard to stand the unrealistic aspect of the main character's relationship, but I like the way they showed the fight with your weaknesses, the ups and downs etc.
Sex Education (2019)
Smart and thoughtful
I wasn't convinced at first, but I'm glad I watched all of it. The show tackles difficulties of parenthood, friendship, sexual orientation, school, being a teacher, interests, careers etc. in a kind, smart and thoughtful way. I wish in real life people were this accepting and kind, even if it's only deep down. The only thing that annoyed me was the ending: the "they just missed each other" and "somebody leaves someone a heartfelt message but someone else deletes it and they never hear it" thing is soooo typical...
Miss Americana (2020)
Unfortunately, boring
With all the respect I have for Taylor as an artist, I feel like this documentary was a shallow puff-piece aimed at showing a part of her life that she chose to show, which wasn't a lot. If you decide to make a documentary about yourself, let people in, show something, don't hide... Don't just show the deep political thoughts / dilemmas which make you look good, without showing some aspect of the relationships, friends, feuds, parties, imperfections. In the end, it just felt scripted and planned for most of the time and lacked authenticity that Netflix's docuseries usually have.
Élite (2018)
Excellent show
I love this show. It has everything: a gripping plot, complex, interesting characters, beautiful people, good acting, sensuality and tension. Higly recommend.
Supergirl (2015)
Higly native and shallow
I don't know what I expected, but this show feels like I'm just watching the same episode over and over again. There are no complex, interesting characters, everything is just soooooo predictable and naive... Hard to watch
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004)
Sad to watch
It's actually quite sad how somebody can basically copy a great film that was Bridget Jones (some scenes are literally the same - same jokes, same motives - like poems on the boat or jokes about big pants) and still make it oh so bad... Not worth seeing. But do see Bridget Jones 3, that one was great
My Dad Wrote a Porno (2019)
Stick to the podcast
I love the podcast, but the show seems rehearsed and unnatural, a bit forced as well. I love the podcast for the natural reactions and spontanous jokes, while the show is hard to watch
Green Book (2018)
Incredibly predictable and average
Another proof of how Oscars don't mean anything anymore.
The Holiday Calendar (2018)
So bad and so annoying
The predictability is not the biggest problem, most of Christmas movies are predictable. What I found most annoying is the storyline with the doctor who literally did nothing wrong, was open and direct, liked her and told her so and just seemed like a good guy. After which he got dumped for DARING to say that the calendar might not be magic. I found the main character obnoxious, angry at the whole world and not seeing any faults in herself.
This is really bad, you guys, just don't watch it
