Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Ok I am in so far.
Seeing Star Trek being bent over a table and done horrific things to over the years, I was anything but skeptical to this new installment. But watching the pilot, I found myself wrapped in the optimistic feeling the series was meant to inhabit. The writers seems to steer the series away from politics and woke agenda and more towards actual story telling. Perhaps this horse isn't dead yet. We shall see.
Fear the Walking Dead: Dead in the Water (2022)
No suprises here
The Walking Dead and the spinoff has been going down the path of oblivion for a long time now and this pilot will not assist matters. It added nothing new and the writing was down right boring. It is completely unnecessary and pointless.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Just no
Boring and idiotic. It adds nothing new. What you see is done a 1000 times over. This was a completely unnecessary production with no value what so ever. I almost dozed off during the screening of this thing.
Moonfall (2022)
Hey Moonfall!
The god of ripoff wants a word. So do the god of cliches. They were not only lining up, but started fighting in the cue to get in first. I mostly knew what would happen before it did. The effects are decent (why the 3 stars), but does little to elevate the movie. I watched until the end of fascinated boredom. You want a brain dead sci-fi with Hollywood science, sure! Grab the popcorn and turn off your brain for 2h and 10 minutes.
Dog (2022)
Not bad
This was a pleasant surprise for me. I expected the usual worn out tropes when animals are involved, but this flick was a lot more mature. Give it a shot if you haven't already. Worth your time.
Chloe's Pocketbook Diary (2022)
Ouch
Embarrassingly incompetent. The entire thing goes on with no sound track. Acting, sound and editing is horrendous. Makes Wild Eye movies look like Shakespeare, and that is saying a lot. One of the worst I've come across in 2022.
Everything's Gonna Be All White (2022)
What is this?
You are tempted to think this was made for one thing and one thing only. To cause more division and resentment. The people who came up with this idea and actually made it should be deeply ashamed of themselves.
Those Who Walk Away (2022)
Ignore the fake high rating
This is true B movie garbage. Amateurish and poorly edited and cut. 20 minutes out in it, it was clear it was made by people who knew little about movie making. Did not waste anymore time on it.
Judge Steve Harvey (2022)
No it's not funny
He is just a burned out game show host trying to stay relevant and doesn't care how he does it. It's sad really. There is a time when you have to look in the mirror and call it quits. But some of them can't face that reality it seems.
Encanto (2021)
A very meh Disney experience.
The animation was good as you would expect. Got a few funny scenes, but the story was not inspiring, nor was the songs I suspect few will remember. It is your classical run of the mill Disney mash. To make a comparison! It doesn't hold a candle (pun intended) to Raya and the Last Dragon.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
Bad casting decisions
Before the characters introduce themselves, you have no clue who they are. And then you are just confused because there is nothing about them that reminds you of the games. The director said he was a fan of the franchise which is clearly a lie. He didn't understand a single one of the characters. The scrip is a mess and the acting often laughable. I give 2 stars because they at least got the police station right.
Life Beyond (2019)
Fantastic
Everything is planned with care. The sound tracks, the cinematics and the narrative. It makes you wonder, fear and marvel. An amazing journey into a possible future. This is an inspiring master piece.
Santa Inc. (2021)
Wow and not in a good way.
How on earth did they think to green-light this? This is possible the worst thing I have seen in a long time. This is just sad and depressing. This shows how out of touch Hollywood can be with the audience thinking this was actually a good idea.
The Unkind (2021)
Good grief.
When you see the Wildeye logo, you know you are in for a spoon full of cow dung. Horrible and in all the wrong ways. Why they keep making C level horror movies like this is beyond me. If you see this movie walking up the street, cross the road.
Nisser (2021)
Plagued by bad acting
This had promise if handled in a different way, but we got a dumb protagonists (with a hint of Disney) Josefine who causes death and chaos because she is a do-gooder. I was for a moment routing for the Elves to finish her off. Generic and boring series with nothing new to offer the horror franchise.
Bruised (2020)
Halle Berry did ok but...
The story is generic and long phased with much melodramatics. I found myself waiting for the movie to move forward. But it is competent enough and I give kudos to Berry for the obvious preparations for this role. Still it is a long way up to Million Dollar Baby which is the natural comparison.
Clerk (2021)
And he blabbers on.
Silent Bob was a perfect role for him because there he had to shut his trap. People will never forget his blunt lies that made him the medium for ridicule. Go away Kevin. You are not relevant anymore.
Hit-Monkey (2021)
What a blast.
This came out of nowhere and hit me smack in the face. It is hilarious, gory, brutal, all at the same time. This show does not pull any punches and makes no excuses for it's self. I can do nothing but highly recommend this. One of the most bingeable stuff I have seen in avail.
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
Good grief
Re makes is a curse onto the art of film making these days. They are cheap and easy to make since they have the brand to rely on. Looking at you Disney. This movie is a waste of time. Not even the nicer Youtube critics could find anything redeeming about this one.
Apex (2021)
It is sad...
It is sad to see a once great actor going down in flames like Willis are. At one point he stopped giving a crap about the profession that made him rich and now only shows up so he can collect the paycheck. This movie is b material with nothing redeeming to point at.
Invasion (2021)
Snore feast.
I dozed off waiting to get past all the drama that just kept going and going and going. I see what they went for here, but it doesn't hit the mark. I am giving this one up, lest I risk being bored to death.
The Covid Killer (2021)
Absolute rubbish
Let me put it this way. Someone found a camera and managed against all evidence to turn it on. That's how I suspect this dung pile was created. And all these fake 10 stars reviews that are clearly made by the creators, their friends and their family. They are an embarrassment as much as this (and I am using the term lightly here), movie.
Star Trek: Prodigy (2021)
To boldly go where and so forth
The show is a little tame for older Trekkies like myself. It is "very" family friendly. But the younger audience which this is aimed at might find it worth while. Let's hope future episodes justify it's existence.
The Harder They Fall (2021)
I gave it a chance.
I am not going to give it a standing ovation just because the cast is more or less black. I shall judge it on it's own merit. The revenge plot is old and overused. The violence added nothing new. The music was horribly misplaced and some of the actors I simply didn't believe. A Tarantino wanna be that fails to deliver something original. I give it 4 for the end plot.
Amityville Cop (2021)
Good grief.
This is down right insufferable. There is nothing what so ever here worth reviewing. An absolute insult to even B movies. Avoid like the plague unless you and some drinking buddies need something to ridicule.
