Not for everyone, quite disturbing, some scenes potentially disgusting for some.
Lynch is very experimental here, it somewhat works.
Everyone has to start somewhere.
As a starting point it's a decent neo-noir flick.
Nolan had to start somewhere and it was quite a unique start indeed.
Not so great
Apart from the cinematography this movie feels empty and shallow.
Once the end credits start rolling, you feel no emotional connection to the characters, nothing. Very forgettable.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Good vibes but the hype train is unreal
It's a good series, but 10/10 ? Nah fam.
The IMDb scores just shows how many Star Wars fans are active online.
Donnie Darko (2001)
The hype train this movie has had in the past said it all.
It truly is a good movie. Maybe 9/10, sometimes I would give it 10/10... it's hard but it's really stunning anyway. Highly recommended for people with curious minds.
V for Vendetta (2005)
What we live in.
Very much inspired by 1984 and other dystopian novels, but it truly is the depiction of our current world in most instances.
Who would have known they got it so right. Natalie Portman's performance is very good as well.
Cloud Atlas (2012)
Most underrated 10/10 movie on IMDb.
I reckon this must be the most under-appreciated, undervalued and misunderstood movie on the IMDb. Holy smokes, this film gives you the kind of feeling people write novels about!!!
Upon reading some of the reviews I'm shocked by the sheer stupidity of the authors. Not 'nuf brain cells it seems.
I recommend 2-3 viewings AT LEAST to fully grasp and/or appreciate this masterpiece.
The Matrix (1999)
The timeless classic.
This film doesn't age, it will be contemporary even in 2030 or 2040.
Wachowski's best one, by far.
True Detective (2014)
M A S T E R P I E C E
1st season = 10/10
2nd season = 10/10*
3rd season = 9/10
*to understand the 2nd season you have to watch Eyes Wide Shut by Stanley Kubrick, it's definitely inspired by that movie and those who haven't seen it might feel let down and lost, hence the fall in ratings.
It's one of the best TV shows ever made. AAA quality. Need more seasons.
One of the best TV-shows ever made.
Westworld and True Detective are probably the best TV shows made in the 2010s. It took huge balls to pull this off, kudos to Jonathan and Lisa.
Fight Club (1999)
Best Fincher movie
Perhaps one of the best movies ever made, a truly spectacular film that EVERYONE should watch. It's ... well it's a classic that still feel modern in 2020.
The Prestige (2006)
Well well well, it's just 10/10
This Christopher Nolan classic never gets old.
For me Chris truly broke away with this one and started his own league, this is his earliest film I rate 10/10 and it paved the way for the success to come later.
Even though it's based on a novel, I believe it's Chris' genius what has made this a masterpiece.
One of my favourite Michael Caine performances here as well, the dialogue is superb. It's well worth multiple viewings as every viewing uncovers something you missed prior. It's a very clever movie. Not for people with short attention spans and low IQ though. (like most Nolan movies)
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Excellent but falls short of its predecessor, mostly due to high expectations it had set. The IMAX shots are beautifully shot, Tom's performance is really really great.
The ending is ...well, you might shed a tear or two. Lovely.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Best superhero movie, by far.
This is the best comic/DC/Marvel/Superhero genre movie ever made.
Within its genre this stands on its own, there is nothing that comes even remotely close. A proper 10/10. Nolan achieved something I would never have thought possible with a superhero movie.
Heath's performance is the best in the motion picture industry, eclipsing Marlon Brando...and I don't think anyone else is a candidate for this.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
One of the best movies ever made. The ending truly is something most people love about this one, me included.
One of the best movies ever made, period.
I guess everything's been already said about this one. It's definitely amongst the best 3 Nolan movies, surely a 10/10.
Movies of this calibre come seldom to never.
This could be a once-in-a-lifetime motion picture to behold.
If you could only watch 1 film in your life, it should be this. 'nuf said.
A truly remarkable achievement Nolan haven't yet eclipsed, even though Interstellar and Tenet came pretty close, I feel like this one is still the best.
It's an absolute grandiose spectacle on all fronts, music/score, editing, visual effects, acting, cinematography, writing, direction, and most imporantly THE VERY CEREBRAL CORE of the movie, the urge to engage with it, to grasp it fully by watching it more than once, the sheer scale of the movie... 10/10 *LOUD APPLAUSE*
One of the worst remakes?
Holy smokes that was bad...
I feel insulted by Disney :D
More "green screen" effects probably only in Black Panther.
Skip this one folks, this ain't worth anyone's time.
No way 10/10 ratings are truthful
Hitchcock fanboys have been hyping this for over 60 years. It's a good thriller movie, no reason to rate it R. There is basically no blood or violence ON CAMERA.
The pefromances are mediocre at best. The effects are good for the 60s era I guess. 6-7/10.
Man on Wire (2008)
Nothing you would watch twice.
Title says it all.
It's okay to watch it once but not really interesting, as the archival footage goes, the most important part - the wire walk - is missing. lol
The Illusionist (2006)
Prestige > The Illusionist
No way this is better than The Prestige.
Prestige is 10/10 compared to this one.
Into the Night (2020)
Fairly pathetic but I will keep watching!
Idk why but I will keep watching this, it's a very easy watch...
Most characters are stupid like others have said but it's not supposed to be a cerebral spectacle, it's a late-night chill series I'll keep watching.
The twists are good, it's very underrated!!
People voting 4/10 because "it's not a horror movie" lmao... it's not supposed to be scary, it's a good chillin' nightmare you keep waking up into.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
It's not bad....but
It's not bad, I really wanted to love this, was super hyped but...falls short of expectations, feels very... "dead", there is not much to connect to, so lifeless so... soulless :D
Really expected something truly groundbreaking here, which wasn't the case!
Bad Banks (2018)
Great series! Very promising.
Superb perfomances by the leads.
Looking forward to seeing what more there is in the next seasons.
